  1. I think I am going away from Stomper tribe to getting a Kraken eater to run 1 of each mega and a block of 3 mancrushers in taker tribe. Taking very acquisitive trait, then get glowy lantern on the kraken eater and the 5+ ward on gatebreaker. I play tested this list and the combo of all out attack or all out defense along with using finest hour is just crazy. If a particular gargant is in a picke, you can choose that turn to be finest hour and save a CP for all out defence for a 2+ save, that is just disheartening for many on a 35 wound model. Mancrushers are still reliable damage, the charge of 3 at once averages to around 5 MW just from that, while they are more squishy, they are also a great "missile" with auto run of 6+charge when needed and chuck rocks is a decent range attack to help take down support heroes etc. Remember that 1 VP for a monster death is per round basis, so if you lose all 3 in a turn, (as Gimli said) it still only counts as one. While the Sons have sooo many advantages on the grand stategy and battle tactics. I tried this setup against a FEC list and boy did that hurt them. Roar alone cripples whatever terrorgheists that wants to come in and fight twice. Kraken eater with flaming weapon just moving dudes away and cycling finest hour and all out defence for the most exposed mega, while flanking with the mancrushers while everyone counts as a crazy amount of models, most armies cant even get units above 30 anymore!
  2. He is clearly making Duardin battlemechs infused with spirits of legendary heroes, now with laser beards. It will be a game of knights vs gundams, absolute mechastuntie mayhem. Could also be fun if it turned out to go wrong and all the duardin ancestor ghosts joined the nighthaunt as little potbelly bedsheets
  3. Well it sounds like they are doing everything to make it mandatory for those engaging a lot with the hobby, unfortunately they are lacking a bit of content, so they gotta reign in the free conveniences offered now, and include them in the package. The list builder was already a subscription feature in the app, only the warscroll builder is free and I do not believe they are talking about the warscroll builder, but the app list builder which work a lot differently.
  4. With release in like a week, why even make a preview article without a screenshot or two and just a minimum of what to expect, it blows my mind sometimes
  5. As bittersweet as it gets, another megaboss on foot, while looking cool, was just about the absolute last thing I would want... Nobody ever brings 2 and the current kit is great... At least if it was a warchanter that would be better, as the army needs 2-3 to work, with only 1 sculpt available I am aware though that these models can't be too exclusive, and if it had been an update to an old kit people would riot, like a new plastic slann. Still hoping for Ironjawz some day, but with Kruleboyz taking the spotlight and Beastsnaggas in 40k it will probably take a long while for the best greenskins to get attention again.
  6. Breaks my heart. My kids are not quite old enough yet, but I'll be darned if I do not do everything I can to get them into a cool hobby instead of playing CoD on Xbox all the time. 40k is more popular than AoS still and more easy to find other players and friends. With the added content around 40k such as stories and games, it also more easily holds the attention of kids. I have many of my best memories from the local youth center playing warhammer, tabletop games and other RPGs and still as an adult keep in touch with the friends I made. The anti capitalist point of view as GW being the villain but Nintendo or Microsoft being a better option here does not make much sense to me either. Some people like waterskiing, some buy a motorcycle, those are very very expensive hobbies. Playing, painting and collecting warhammer has always seemed like a highly efficient hobby to me, in relation to money spent and enjoyment, but to each their own. Also no reason to "quit" a hobby, just take a break, it is not a relationship or contract after all.
  7. Interesting with a new AoS app, I thought the current one was actually quite good, except wanting to be able to unlock battletomes with codes like in the 40k app, I am obviously not going to buy the book and also buy it again just to unlock the rules in the app. Perhaps they completely skip that for AoS and go by the warhammer+ model to unlock everything. Honestly 50 pound a year for full app access, animations, shows, publications and a sweet model, that seems rather alright to be fair.
  8. If they do it like Warclans they would still be able to run their own thing, just with less customization. The thing with soup tomes is, that it is great for players who like the entire collection and gives multiple options to use the same models, however it also becomes limiting for those who enjoyed a varied focused tome before, like KO. Orruks never got the nice 2.0 treatment, so did not really have anything to lose, but still as a pure Ironjawz player getting the Warclans book with just 3 very similar sub factions, no terrain, no spells or anything, with the tradeoff of having Bonesplitterz stuff in my tome I had no interest in, was a poor tradeoff. If "soup tomes" is the future, I sure hope they do better actually making that soup work, as Warclans currently is very unrewarding when combining model lines, due to keywords between Ironjawz and Bonesplitterz having no interactions at all with each other. Why even have a soup tome when all spells, commands, artifacts etc all only benefit the sub faction keywords anyway.
  9. Gw got their work cut out for them, they are making it very difficult to connect him to destruction, just look at how many instantly see him as either a beastman or Kurnothi, two factions where we already have seen centaur like beings, we have even seen Chaos with at least the now legends Azghor bullcentaurs, so it is a baffling choice the faction of Orruks, Ogors, Grots and Gargants would get a centaur god. Honestly I would much rather have preferred a Gordrakk 2.0 juiced up Avatar, like if he had actually killed Kragnos and Gork and Mork blessed him to godhood or whatever. It would also have been cool if Gordrakk and Skragrott gad been fused together as a twin headed Avatar of Gorkamorka! We got a homesick horse that cries very load when he gets hurt, both his fluff and warscroll represent a big toddler really, absolutely 0 threat to the other pantheons in anything but arm wrestling possibly or crying loudly contests.
  10. Sad really, afraid that the Kruleboyz release on top of all the beast snaggas means it is very unlikely the Ironjawz will ever get expanded
  11. I dont think GW can get away with changing BoC to BoD , that would seriously anger a lot of customers, and I know GW also likes doing that, but imagine all the chaos god themed armies out there being alienated if switching to destruction. I also don't think Kurnothi will be something we should expect a lot more of and honestly I dont think they fit that well anywhere right now and would prefer to see so much else first. I think many Sylvaneth players would like to get the wanderers souped into their tome again... I don't really know what they intend to do with Kragnos, honestly I do not find him interesting at all and seems to bring nothing exciting to the table. His personality can just be boiled down to "alpha beast" unlike orruks he is not even entertaining in that single minded purpose. GW made a centerpiece model now, but he will never sit at the table with the other big players like Morathi, Allarielle, Nagash etc. He was intended to be destructions counterpart to these characters, but he has none of the character or wit to challenge any of these.
  12. Sequitors are baseline battleline it looks like, but Vanguard hunters might still be conditional battleline and appear further down the list. Super excited for the new mere elite stormcast, and also can't wait to see what is going to happen with Orruk Warclans, spill the beans GW so I can plan for my wallets funeral.
  13. It would be very strange to assume they just increased the cost to 200 without changing anything else in an entirely new book. Those points are from their new book, while right now they cost 150.
  14. I get your meaning, Stormcast pays a premium for their armor saves, just look at Concussors right now sitting at 235 for 10 wounds and no defence against mortal wounds. They simply evaporate points the second anything with MW output looks at them wrong. Armorsaves have become a lot less reliable and having an army with half the wounds due to paying for high saves is not all that great lately. Lets see what happens, maybe we get something like 40k Custodes, with a 6+ ward or something similar army wide.
  15. Tell that to everyone who complained about the old petrifex Mortek Guard with 10 guys with 1 wound for 130 pts. The sky was literally falling so much the entire faction got nerfed to the ground.
  16. Says updated July 2021, so that must mean it is set for release next month, this hos been true for past books! Judicators must really become "heavy archers" as well, while the vanquishers are probably lighter skirmishers
  17. I think people are hesitant for multiple reasons, I was as well but decided the models were cool enough to get regardless. We got the Stormcast on one hand, while the new models are cool, nothing about them promises to do anything better or different, this is a new coat of paint for good and bad. Slow footslogging units is rarely a premium in the current meta along with support heroes on foot. For any competitive list I suspect I wont be using any of these models down the line... They are just being too darn secretive about the Kruleboyz, at least announce something about an upcoming battletome or even then how they fit into the warclans. GW is asking people to buy some random battleline units with a few heroes that only support those rather weak battleline units, with a hero on foot that does the same as the mounted version, and we all know one of them will never actually be used. If people knew what this all led up to except vague teases, then it might sell better. People like to actually plan just a little bit when forking over this kind of cash and GW makes it so very hard to plan your purchases at all. The box would probably sell better if they by now had announced upcoming Kruleboyz and Stormcast tomes and how this box would be a perfect starting point to get into either army blablabla marketing speech. Indomitus refreshed current ranges, but people were not in doubt about what the armies are and what they are going to be, while I think many are far more unlikely to know if and what the units in the dominion box models will be used for and how they will fit with the current ranges. Basically GW is just going by "these models are super cool, trust us!".
  18. Unfortunately I do not think there is any point in considering these articles unless you are maybe absolutely new to the game and want an idea of what a faction is. I don't know why they need to have playtesters in these articles because what is being said has rarely anything to do with even half competitive play. Best to just see these as fluff pieces rather than actual rule and mechanics "reviews".
  19. Still think most armies got monsters that works better in their own allegiances for the points, even for Destro, Ironjawz want mawkrushas, Gitz want manglers, ogors got stonehorns etc.
  20. Battle Tactics are great for the Sons! Broken Ranks: gives more points for unit destroyed by monsters, win! Conquer: N/A Slay the Warlord: More points if done by a monster, great! Ferocious advance: +1 point if 3 monsters run together, good for us! Bring it down: Kill a monster, ok easy enough for the opponent, but if done by a monster +1 VP so evens out. Aggressive expansion: Pretty easy to put a toe in for gargants, they are great at that sort of thing. Monstrous takeover: Super super easy, hold an objective with a monster not contested by an enemy monster haha free success. Sabage spearhead: Monsters in enemy zone gives +1 point, well win for gargants! So all in all these are all at a massive favor for SoB, I'm thinking it will be super hard to get the better of the gargants as many of these will be almost impossible to stop the gargants from achieving at some point along with the grand strategy, without a MASSIVE show of force early on.
  21. Living outside the UK I will try to preorder any from the webshops here, but got just about 0 hope to actually get a box. Can hardly get an undercoat spray outside the UK these days, getting increasingly hard to be part of the hobby in the rest of the EU and seems GW has 0 interest in trying to address that based on this information.
  22. SoB will also have an easy time choosing a grand strategy, as every model is battleline, hold the line becomes quite obvious, you get it if you are not tabled
  23. This needs to be taken into context, as this is clearly a knee ****** reaction to Archaons cost in the context of the current rules. Archaon in a StD army was never a problem already, he was never used like that in any competitive environment. The way Archaon was used was mostly with Khorne and Tzeentch and stacking a lot of buffs and commands. You need to take everything into account to know why especially the Khorne build has been completely deleted basically. The major advantage there was buff stacking, Bloodthirster giving 6" pilein command and Reapers of vengeance giving fight twice. Now 6" pile in and fight twice is removed right there, as they are both used in the combat phase, so only 1 can be used. Warshrines were used to cast warscroll prayers AND khorne prayers while also casting judgements, now they will only be able to cast 1 prayer in total, so a major nerf. I would expect to see more changes having impact, but the Khorne build is basically gone so that leaves Tzeentch, however Tzeentch had a lot of the largest point increases all in all, so it will be an even tighter fit than it already is. Arhcaon is also now a part of the S2D faction, so he will be included in the new coalition rules, which are somewhat poorly defined in what we have seen in the GHB21 book, which might get clarified further in the FAQ. TLDR: Archaon in khorne no longer competitive at all. Archaon in S2D was never competitive to begin with. Tzeentch overall got many pts increases and might get coalition based changes.
  24. Spamming ardboyz seems like a suboptimal choice now. the coherency rules hit them hard with their 33mm bases and 1" reach. Brutes seem to be a better bet in units of 10 with the 2" reach weapons. Also with monsters being such a big deal and having so many objectives related to them in matched play, the +1 to hit for the brutes will for sure come into play a lot more, also commands on a 10 man brute unit will be more efficient than on 15 ardboyz, where the brutes will be able to attack with far more power than the 15 ardboyz can. 3 man grunta units do not kill anything really, they are neither an anvil or a hammer at that value. I'll still probably run a unit of 3 for objectives due to the speed, and still have 6 to have a proper hammer unit support the MK, with spears it should be easy enough to get them in, perhaps missing out on a pig or two, but still much more likely to wipe out what they need and trigger smashing and bashing.
  25. Someone seriously sat down and decided that Sentinels should only be +10 pts, while Saurus warriors should be +15 pts and Dragon Ogors should be +20 pts, I don't even know how we can measure anything else based on this information as coming from a reasonable place. Either those FAQs will contain a LOT of information, or this is all completely bonkers land. Looking at the 40k FAQs and our latest FAQs I think holding out hope that these release day FAQs will be anything but a bare minimum, is just a setup for disappointment.
