Thanks!
The base is painted on its own first, then the model is attached.
The model is glued to a card on a paint handle for the priming, initial wash, and bone drybrushing. Then it's popped off and glued to the base for the rest.
Other than the base, the rest is all assembled at one go.
This is a touch different from the spear guys where the shield gets basecoated and glued on after the main model is done.

Yeah, for sure. They start out much darker, but I get, um, "enthusiastic" with the lighter reds at 4 a.m. after my 7th vodka red bull. 😉

Wow! Impressive! Is that 3 x Bonetithe nexus I'm seeing there? Care to explain?
Thanks!
Yeah, I have four total at the moment. One is for the army, and the rest are for a custom table and a tournament display board.

Back in the day that glass might have been a counts-as elf dragon or something. Now it's just a part of my painting system (I always paint better when a few drinks get me to stop thinking and start putting colors on little plastic people).

They look brilliant. I particularly love the bases. Are they some kind of GW basing kit or from some other source?
Thanks!
They are from Dragonforge. Great company from a guy who has been making our hobby better for decades. Give him a look:

I bought several extra Nexus sets with the idea of using the obelisks and statues as the basis of a custom board. It will use the same scheme as the bases. Probably the board will be the last thing I do for the army, in summer or fall of 2021, as a reward for when I complete 10K of the army itself.
Right now I'm trying to keep working on Guard, Stalkers, and any other models that don't have skulls inside them. I'm at a loss as to how to do inner skulls, so I'm doing anything but them to buy time for my brain to have an epiphany.
Plus I need to order the custom dice once the design is settled.
So much to do! (In a good way.)

I like it. The red is very nice.
Thanks!
It's pretty standard GW red, with Bloodletter glaze to bring it back from pink.

Thanks for the feedback.
Three of them use the same basic idea. I primed them Wraithbone, painted the darkest color, then successively drybrushed lighter colors in a circular motion over the bases.
The brown one was slightly different in that I primed with Zandri Dust, washed with Seraphim Sepia, then did the drybrushing thing as above.
I've experimented more since then and will now be priming black instead, and heading straight to the drybrushing. The key is to use less and less paint and a lighter and lighter touch with each lighter color as you go.
Which bases did you pick for yours?

They are from Dragonforge. The owner is a great hobbyist who has been sculpting for decades. I've used his bases before and was pleased.
There are a few sizes missing in the range I selected, and Jeff (the owner) told me he would sculpt up the needed ones. That's service! I encourage folks to check out his stuff.

Looks nice! Very cool idea as well. Fussing of scale, how does she compare to the current "official" demon Prince model?

Thanks!
I know some people stay away from red/green because of Xmas, but it's never bugged me.
