At this point, it wouldn’t surprise me that one or more members of the rule team occasionally reads what we posts, and remembers when they got tabled multiple times by some guy with a neckbeard the size of a small child and fingers covered who grease and Cheetos, who used the original HoS book with the old OP Locus of Diversion. They probably still have PTSD, and want to make us suffer like they did by giving us updates that are the exact the opposite of what we suggest/wish for.
Well if they ever actively talked to the community, the whole "Slaanesh dominated *whip* the entire game for a year+" wouldn't have happened. Yet ignorance it what GW does best. They create all of their own problems and then ignore them, because, you know, the interwebs is new and dangerous, rather keep people in the dark and ignore their filthy nerd opinions.
Easiest, sleekest fix which would also result in point reductions: Limit the amount of depravity that can be generated per Battleround. - Tada.

Imo:
1. Double turns need to be removed, finally. No matter the argument of planning for it or not: It remains a gamble that utterly destroys casual games more often than not. Make it part of a battlepack for tournaments or sth. of the likes but please spare normale matched play games from this nonsense.
2. Magic needs a rework. Atm it is the psy-phase of 40K (which already is a bad design).
3. GW has to arrive in the 21st century and ACTIVELY answer to community questions and wishes instead of ignoring them and burping out marketing nonsense instead.4. Motal wounds need to be massively reduced and instead be replaced by hits with -4 rend.
5. They really need to think about what they want to achieve with path to glory. The scenarios are horrendously one-sided and uncreative, yet this is supposed to be the format featuring crazy creative battles, sieges, ambushes, treasure hunts etc. Instead it's 6 flavours of "kill the enemy quick".
6. Rewrite bad Warscrolls every 6 months and release them in a white dwarf.7. Stop half-baked nonsensical White Dwarf Updates (latest example: Cities of Sigmar)
8. Save-Stacking should really be reconsidered.
9. All-out-Defense on a charge should be reconsidered. Make such Command abilities dependent on whether one charged or not.10. I politely ask to finally nerf sentinels: Even the sewers in front of GW couldn't take it anymore and exploded.

Some rumors predict a IDK vs Fyreslayers release in April including a Battlebox.
Well. If the only thing new in there is a hero for each faction then I'll happily skip it.

Well, the big hint about an Idoneth vs Fyreslayer box was given by Whitefang and he also seemed to hint at a new character for each like the other boxed sets, so its probably that.
Both factions need so much more than a single charakter

It is funny that all these new dragons, which are soo cool but outside of my budget, have made me learn to really appreciate the Dracothian Guard so much more. Many dragons in myths do not actually feature wings including my favourite in Tolkien's legendarium Glaurung. Furthermore Dracoth actually more likely resemble 'descriptions of dragons' from explorers encountering large crocodilians and monitor lizards. I also think it is funny how people are obsessed with the taxonomic features of dragons which are non-standardized across cultures and regions even within shared borders. Even Tolkien described various dragon forms in his legendarium, with his original visions of dragons including mechanical iron dragons.
In other words, I am going to rock a unit of my budget dragons and run my Dracothian Guard with pride! I may save up for one of the big dragons as I truly love dragons and they look really cool I will also keep my eyes peeled for them on second hand markets.
Look at what was posted right after my love letter to dragons, lets hope they make this an actual annual tradition:
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/11/22/dragon-week-the-draconith-are-taking-over-warhammer-community/I'd love a sneaky: By the Way, how do you like this Idoneth Sea Dragon!? - Model

I have to admit I kinda like the changes for nurgle but I hope the cost of mortals won't increase too much to compensate for the 5++.
If not the 5+ ward would be broken. The Glottkin would be immortal x
Apart from that plague mechanic looks thematicI hope most Nurgle units will have a 4+ save. Otherwise we‘d have Stormcasts on steroids

Unpopular opinion: The fact that Battletomes still contain obviously broken and useless warscrolls, Subfactions and or mechanics is brazen and an affront to their customers.

GW doesnt do actual play testing. They never have and they definitely dont have the time to do it now. Actual play testing would involve a large size of players playing with a variety of lists over the course of months. In the video game industry this is known as a Beta. Most good Beta periods will have a limited release so a sample size of players can give proper feedback before a product goes live for general consumer use.
It‘d be enough if they had 4 people playing one afternoon and having one day to look at a tome to iron out the most broken and useless warscrolls and mechanics. Most issues are obvious. And I‘d be fine if the obvious ones would not appear in books anymore.
I don‘t believe in Stormcast hate. Those dragons were way too good, it took one exactly two minutes of looking at the Warscroll to figure that out.

Let’s be realistic: GW barely playtests anything. The first real playtesting is done by the players. That’s why new releases are as messy (quality and power-wise) as they are.

Alright
I saw the nerf of the dragons, here’s what I think about it:- I like that they adjusted the points before anyone could buy too many of them
- It is curious that this point value is exactly the value Warhammer Weekly and other channels wished it to be
- It is strange that nothing else has been changed. There’re other units that are overcosted in that book. In this case we’re not talking about slightly overcosted Models (like Karazai) but ridiculous point values like the Lord Exorcist.
So I come to the conclusion that they did not playtest it at all, instead they listened to feedback.
This is good and bad at the same time:
- Listening to good feedback is ace!
- Putting such too low point costs into the Battletome at all is witness to how much they actually test their products: They don’t, or they must ignore feedback at that stage.
Which brings me to the next point. Why does playtesting not to be a thing?
- Is it too much pressure (too few time for too many rules)?
- Is it arrogance?
My personal feeling is that they don’t have much time, they are also not interested in touching rules and or warscrolls a second time (most warscrolls are a copy and paste of their old incarnation with little to no creativity). And they are not interested in fixing broken units or factions unless the uproar and therefor the pr gets too bad.
We really need a point fix for Slaanesh, we need Warscroll rewrites for several units like Black Knights and we need more common sense and creativity concerning rules and Warscroll design. As of late AoS rules have felt like a half baked, neglected product they don’t care for.
They REALLY need to improve their communication with their fanbase. They are doing too little, too late and are too rigid in their way.

Well,
I have a small HoS Collection and would like to field them with my Slaves to Darkness.
Is there a legitimate way to build an army without being tabled against even the worst lists?
Here's what I own:
2x3 Fiends
1x Syll'esske
1x Keeper of Secrets
1x Slickblade Seekers
1x Slaanesh Terrain
1x Enrapturess
10x Deamonettes
5x Hellstriders/Hell hunters (don't know the english name for the nose-bear thingyies)I intend to proxy my chaos Warriors as Twinsouls (5 Models) or Myrmidesh (25 Models)
Apart from that I have pretty much everything the Slaves Range has to offer except the Mutalith ans its Khorne counterpart and Chariots -

What I am ever more cnvnced of though is that I want a return of Lore books for armies, ram backed with Art, concepts, random stories, heraldrly.
Same!
I still remember the „colors of the Empire“ book - very inspiring stuff
(Unpopular opinion): I really love the End Times books: One book with lots of Lore, images etc. and one small book with rules, stats etc. - End times Nagash bundle is the only WHF Book(s) I kept.

@Neil Arthur Hotep that's not a bad idea at all, thank you. I am leaning to @Doko's suggestion to just count the acolyte on the platform as a wizard. I am unlikely to have anyone take any issue with that even in our local tournament scene.
@zilberfrid, your comment about sawing up the kit not being pretty is my worse fears would be! I am not in to ruining all that hard work! Thanks so much for your comment - may have save me a lot of cursing later!
@JackStreicher, thanks for that. This was my first though. It was only later did I realise the platform would be in the wrong place. Who says the laser needs to be powered by a sorcerer at the back though - the profile of the thing would be about the same. I think this would be the way to go if I was to add the laser.
@readercolin, yes, I noticed that problem with the planets. I think there was some other leftover planets on the end of some poles that I luckily didn't use earlier that could help me out. Thanks heaps for informing me of the pain I would be putting myself through. I have never actually magnetised a kit before so I am a bit naive in this regard. Could you post a picture of your Xinti War mages progress?
Thanks so much all for taking the time to reply. Your advice has been so helpful!
The Cart could also just carry the Luminark construct (facing backwards). And in battle the cart turns on the spot and the luminark can be used by the wizard ^^
- 1
-
Alright my opinion:
all you need to magnetise is the top construction. You can easily swap that one for the laser-burning-glass with no effort. Nothing else has to be done

I like the ideas in general. However killing a general to win does not work. Too many armies can shoot the general within 1 turn

So the CoS update has been leaked (matched play and parts of open play).
long story short: Don‘t bother. It‘s the very definition of sloppy, uninspired rules writing.
One good thing though: The gryphon mount trait is actually cool
I think the Path to Glory Section and the campaign could be really cool!

I‘ve heard an unreliable rumor that a new kind of ability will find its way into the Battletomes: Attacks that ignore positive modifiers to saves.
would make sense judging by GW‘s design philosophy. We‘ll see

You might be right there mate, still it doesn’t change the fact that its strange that there has been so little hype about Red Harvest or I am missing something here?
My hype was smashed into the dirt by the price tag XD
apart from that: Nice box.- 1

Because people rate the matched play rules as "laws given by God and the universe". So they refuse to adapt, because they want to play the "real" game, though they hate the DT.
