  1. How do you come up to 30”? Do you mean the 12” from caster + 18” the next portal from the first one? as i understand you need to be 1” of te fist portal to put a spell through it, so that would mean 1 + 18 + range of the spell. Mmm 1+18+14 = 33 is also 30+, maybe you meant that....
  2. Briljant! btw I played with thricefold today and finally get the hang on it. I find it a tedious battalion to play with to try to get the best out of it. It was a friendly game so i made a little variation on the common thricefold lists u see passing by on tournaments/fora etc. i had GUO with bell/blade andtome of a thousand poxes, GUO with bilesword/flail and gyrstrike (grNdfathers blessing), rotigus, festus, 30 plaguebearers, 20 marauders, 5 blightkings, cogs and umbral spellportal. I went up against some weird Archaon/beast of chaos list, the guy wanted to play Achaon cause he likd the model. Well, the spells went of well using plaguestorm theough the portal is awesome, rolling deluge and get 5 4+ woop woop! Foul regenesis to nauseojs revulsion followed by the next round rampant disease and back to nauseous. Blades of putrefaction on Marauders or GUO with gyrstrike wasfun to.....it was fun I won the game on objectives and didnt pay attention to Archaon. At least i didnt try to kill, just tried to keep him in combat with units to keep up the GUO’s.
  3. Well the inspiring presence is great if you want to keep those monks a little longer. (Or maybe you might use it on the blightkings, but i guess you woukd use it on the plague monks) On the other hand do you really need that after your monks have got their charge and did damage? The cogs have a rather high roll of 7, or a 6 with your GUO. The cogs gonna help make the charges (which would be what you want right?), furthermore if you keep control over them during the match you coukd also use them to cast an extra spell, mystic shield extra, foul regenenis extra....besides extra save roll for the wizard. IF the cogs are on the field i feel you have more use of that compared with the extra command point. (Although no monks running is great to obviously) I like your list Glott 2 spells and the best rotbringer spell togther with GUO and the best daemon spell. Gutrot for the nice attack in the back...only thing i can think of is that your blightkings do mot really have much buffs. Might be troublesome since you have a lot of them. No harby for extra save, no LoP for re-rolls, no LoB (blightcyst, but i read you wanted to shift awy from that). Ofcourse you have your buffs and debuffs from the spells, but that are not guaranteed buffs! You coukd fail a spell, or it gets dispelled. Relying on magic can be dangerous (especially for Nurgle, with those high casts). That was my “critical” evaluation. On the other hand I love the list and if the spells go off (and you have cogs, which i would add, cause i assume all spells go of ) then this could be devastating for an opponent. Edit: Maybe give GUO tome of a thousand poxes instead of witherstave to get that extra +1 on spells
  4. I believe this is a solid list, but gonna take some practice, if you want take full use of all the synergies. Do you have some daemon for the save re-roll and the plaguebearers? Or do you plan on keep either the poxbringer or harbinger in their vicinity, by chqnging their roles as you describe? The switching of poxbringer/harbinger to follow your drones looks difficult when your in full swing of battle. Since your already planning savin up command points (harbinger?), maybe ditch harbinger and a unit of blightkings for a lord of afflictions! And let him run around with drones
  5. There was a blightkings heavy list at cancon that finished 8th of 200 participants. It had epidemus, LoB, festus and i thought 35 blightkings. (Dont remember the lists exactly, but it was something like this) so the battallion gives -1 rend, the LoB had rustfang and festus’ spell. So that would give an oopnent effectively -3 on a save! So when he first casualties at you opponent size fall slowly epidemus his tally is gettin into play too. (Btw the other “high” ending nurgle lists (23 and 24) where thricefold) Poor nurgle needs more love, hopefully we see some point decreases in the new generals handboook.
  6. I actually think the Tallyband can be incredible, especially if you make your PB’s even more resilient by setting up lord of blights behind the two 30 PB units. You would get a completely different list...but then your PB’s will hang around even longer. GUO, poxbringer, 2 LoB, 2*30 PB 1*10 PB, 3 drones and the tallyband. Anyway if you swap scribener for poxbringer, which is a very good idea! You still have 40 points left and could take a prismatic pallisade.. edit: just realised you only heal 1 wound....I thought it was d3, bit thats only for the PB’s.
  7. Oh yeah, thx i have yet another unit of PBK. I have considered a lot of things, but never looked at the warshrine...good to know, I will defenitaly consider that for another tournament/battle. I already send the army list to the organisers of the tournament, so i m stuck at what i wrote down here. I shall write my experiences down with this army...(tournament is in 2 weeks) Wish me luck!
  8. So i see some life in this Maggotkin thread again! Nice! Couple of posts back I posted my idea of a fun army, which I will use in an upcoming tournament. At forehand this is NOT a commonly accepted OPTIMIZED army, I just think it is an army with potential if things work out well. I am nearly finished painting all the stuff. My idea was to bring an elite blightking heavy army. Since Glott is bests used for higher model count armies (and considering my consistently bad dice rolls his spells rarely go off for me), I wanted another hero. SO here goes...against common sense I painted Orgoth Daemonspew! Why? Because I think his command ability is great re-rolling wound rolls is good (for me re-rolls are good) and he has a nice save (3+). I also want re-rol to hit so I took lord of plagues, since i need even more re-rolls i took the Plague cyst battallion (xtra command point + extra artifact). To completely fill my warscroll battalion, to get less drops, i added Harbinger which also has a nice 5+ ward save thingy. Because i want my Blightkings to hit a lott (re-roll all) and to wound (re-roll 1) I also want my opponent de-buffed a little with his save so i added rustfang (-1 save) and festus (-1 save spell). To quickly gather contagion points and for backstabbing i have Gutrot... I feel i can have fun with this list (I totally suck with thricefold...been there don that, not my cup of tea, even a GUO with +2 cast doesnt get stuff going with my snake eye drops....) So my lists is as follows: (Plaguecyst) Orgoth Lord of plagues (rustfang) Harbinger (witherstave) Festus (blades of putrefaction) Gutrot 10 PBK 5 PBK 5 PBK 5PBK
  9. I have been lookin at results for Maggotkin in recent tournaments, cancon and las vegas, i think, if you dont consider the player skills, the thricefold befoument is one of the top tier Maggotkin lists. Lots of magic manipulaing the wheel, endless spell amd the very nice plaguestorm and with two times 30 PB for objectives and some other battleline to fill il the slot.
  10. Since i also have the feelin that Nurgle is somewhat between the high tier and medium armies in the current competetive army, it was time to have some fun even at a competetive tournament i plan to attend. In a competetive scene it is not unheard of to battle against very aggressive armies (and players lol) . And a lot of people bring lists that will table a fluffy army in one or two turns. For me on the other hand, i find it fun to try stuff out. So my latest fun army, which im gonna bring to a competetive scene is centered around Orgoths Daemonspew, yes you read it right the least used of the Maggothlord even in a fluffy army. Why bring orgoth if you could bring the glottkin you ask? Well if you bring glotkin your opponent wants him dead and if you have some bad luck you will loose him very fast and 25% of your army is gone, if you also run a cyst this means that only 65% models are on the table by approximation. I dont want that, so i thought i get orgoth, nobody uses him and my opponent doesnt know him and maybe doesnt pay that much attention as he woukd have on a glottkin....and that’s a good thing. (Also i always have bad luck with Nurgle spells so if i dont have the 2 glottspells, no problemo too) and maybe we underestimate orgoth too, cause if my opponent targets him a 3+ save with a 5+ Morbid vigor for harbinger is great! Besides, his command ability re-roll wound rolls of 1 is kinda cool if the wheel of contagion is on fecund vigor +1 to wound, which means blightkings wound on 2+ and re-roll essentially all failed wounds now. So i need orgoth, harbinger and blightkings. Nice! Now i want more hits, rend is oke but playin against dead/ghosts meh. So i want to re-roll my to hits too, lets get a lord of plagues, and if i add a plague cyst i can re-roll all failed wound rolls. Very nice, so at during fecund vigor i can re-roll all to hit and to wound rolls for my blightkings!! I i gave my general grandfathers blessing i can even have two times in a row! Wow! But indeed the kings have no rend and it might be interesting against stormcasts another army you meet a lot, so lets bring festus for his -1 to save on an enemy unit and let lord of plague have rustfang -1 to save. With some luck the pesky 2+ saves become 4+ saves...hehehe, maybe attack your opponent in the back, always a good plan, so Gutrot to the rescue! Now i have 5 heroes and a battalion ....you know jow much blightking units i can bring for 2000 points? The answer is six, six units of blightkings and the units of my opponent against a unit of pbk who are under the influence of orgotths command ability in the vicinity of lord of plagues during fecund vigor and that enemy unit has -2 on their saves...are in a world of pain! My goal for the tournament is not to win, but at least had the opportunity to at least have above scenario two times during the five battles i have to play! Wish me luck!
  11. Briljant description of the current state of a Nurgle army!
  12. Funny that you show your lists. I was just busy here at home reviewing all maggotkin lists on cancon. Eventually, categorised them as Good - Average - below average. Your list together with the two thricefold battalions and the guy who finished 8th ( with all those blightkings and epidmus) where in my good list. Problem with my analysis is i dont know the players so my assumption is all players are equally good (which isnt true obviously). My conclusion was that thricefold is one of the best battalions at the moment and you and the other guy (best magotkin at canco) have also good lists, but are probably also good at playin the game! Nice lists you got there, good to see those pussgoyles played, love the models. btw, no offense meant, but your kill points werent that high right? Around 3500? I asume that is the total of all the points you killed in 6 battles, 3500/12000? maybe i drop my analysis here one time. Thx for sharing your experience, i hope to end up high in a big tournament too one time. greetz
  13. Well the blade would be great, but the bell for the extra movement yeah even faster could be great. ( i never use drones or pussgoyles so all the movement i have woth those flyers was fast enough already for me thats why i came up with the sword) The cloak is the whole centerpiece in this funbuild, because i wantd a fast flyin GUO! But indeed I only see the fun of this list in its mobility. I always play with the 4” moves (couple of units not countd) and i carfully place my units that this doesnt handicap me to much, but ofc it dos cause 4” is slow. So when i then have an flyin army with 8” moves i see opppurtunities, but maybe there arent that much. I actually only played Nurgle 4” so far. Maybe i should start to paint up my Tzeentch stuff and play with it, to get the feelin of playin with fast units. thx for response anyway :)
  14. I love to play Nurgle, i dont know if it is due to the fact of paternalism or that you dont have to be ashamed of your sweety feet. Anyhow Nurgle can be played in very different styles and i think it’s that versatilty that i like. So i had the next list in mind, just to play for fun. Like to hear what you think of it and maybe even ever tried out...which i doubt. so here goes i call them the Flyin Vomit Squad: GUO (sword/flail) and the artefact thermalrider cloak Lord of afflictions ( general) Daemon Prince of Nurgle 3*2 pussgoyle blightlords 6*plaguedrones 3* plaguedrones This should be 1980 points and all models have the daemon keyword, and the fun thing is......yes, the great unclean can move an extra 4 inch (cloak) and CAN FLY!! WoW imagine the look on the face of your opponent if ou charge your 6 plaguedrones followed b a flyin GUO....and his command ability works on the whole army, cause they all have the daemon keyword. To bad i dont have the models yet, so if someone has, pls try it out and let me know how it went.....
  15. I tried that Wraithbow once i didnt like it. Your changes on sixes arent that high, change for at least one six when throwing 6 dice = 1 - (5/6)^6 = 0,665 about 2/3 that is and for at least two sixes is the former change minus the change on 1 six, which is 0,665 - 6*(5/6)^5*(1/6) which is 0,196 about 1/5 this artefact rsembles the lord of plagues ability where you roll 7 dice and do MW on 6+ in herophase with a range of 21”. (Which i also find trickyl in use, changes on sixes are somewhat higher there cause you roll a dice more) but when you lucky with that wraithbow you have can do some xtra damage in the shooting phase with your lord, so take your changes.
  16. Hey guys, im on the verge to some daughters of khaine army and i need some tips...not on mechanics to play, there is enough to find on that subject, but i could use some basing tips. How do you guys base your daughters? Any theme? Does anyone play them like there from Ulgu and thus have Ulgu bases and how would they look like. For myself i was thinking of some ancient greek style bases. So rocky, mediteranian light brown white rocks, with some broken statues/buildings, anyone want to share there basing styles? greetz
  17. So i wantedto share my list and experience i had in a game against khorne daemons today. My list was as follows: Glottkin, LoB (rustfang, resilient), PBK 1 10 and 2 of 5, Gutrot, 30 Plaguebearers and a scrivener with witherstave. Battalion i used was blight cyst. The Khorne list had a Skarbrand, 3 units of 10 bloodletters, a skullcanon, and 3 units of bloodcrushers. And two heroes i forgot. We played total conquest and i started of, Glottkin was in the middle with the unit of 10 PBK and LoB, i had 5 PBK on home objective and moved PB and scrivener on the objective on the left. At the end of movement i placed gutrot and the PBK at the objective at the right above me and then it was his turn, he shot with his canon and i got a wound on the 10 PBK. ( so that was 3 victory points for me 1 for him) He won the roll and charged his skarbrand to my Glottkin, he killed him with two strokes of slaughter and carnage! I was flabbergasted..no more: blades of putrefaction, fleshy abundance or lord of nurgle.....aargh. Anyhow, my Gutrot and PBK killed bloodletters who came for the objective... and my 10 blightkings, i could pile 7 around skarbrand, killed him (rolled alott of sixes luckily) So i still had hold of all my objectives ad he only the one in his territory. Next rounds went the same the blightkings and LoB killed everything in the midd field, canon, bloodletters and a hero while my plaguebearers where resilient as resilient goes against his bloodcrushers. (The objctive was also nxt to a wood which was mystical, so an xtra mortal wound save on top of the resilient. After 4 rounds we called it a day, he couldnt win anymore so had a major victory and major fun. Although, i had to whipe a tear when i lost the Glott. (makes me wonder, since i didnt really make use of Glottkin, maybe a nice substitute....one that doesnt draw that much attention..)
  18. I also love to run Blightkings, my favorite models. The next list is the one im goin to try out: Harbinger, lord of blights, lord of afflictions. unit of 10 BK and a unit of 5 BK i dont have a real plan yet for them but i will let the lord of blights be in range of the unit of 10 so i can let them shoot. I coukd also let the lord of afflictions be around them for the re-rolls. My experience so far with the BK is, re-rolls are good ofc, but they dont really need them.
  19. Agreed, but if i would use them i would not let them fight that much. Just let them sit around objectives, use the hidden infestation, bring them in units of 6, which is 24 wounds in combination with morbidex ability and their own heal all wounds in battleshock....they might survive a while. I know this is all theory, but thats why i was curious about his experience.
  20. Hi, what went wrong here? I’m most curious about htis list, wanted to try it out myself one time. I can imagine it is difficult to win games where you have to crush your enemy, but for objective games i thought that it might be worth using it. (Maybe not tournament style, but at my local shop i hoped to have some chances) Would a blob of plaguebearers help the list?
  21. Nice to read another view, i gave my GUO the bell and blade and will use him as a support. When i get my next paycheck gonna buy another one, so i might make that one in the sword+dagger combo, i like the idea of the +1 to cast via the dagger. On the other hand Rotigus seems great as damage dealer too...a those choices. Good thing i convinced my wife i absolutely need three GUO's ....LOL
  22. Thx hughwyeth, Did the statistics too, but since i always been bad at it i just did the experiment. I came at 3 dmg total also, and when i experimented with 10 rolls my mean was 2.7 dmg which is close to the theoretical one, which you get too. So it’s all clear now, support with bell it is then. I got my GUO an hour ago and will build him in the support role with bell and blade. It’s absolutely amazing in whatever game, tabletop or computer games, i always choose armies or characters with support roles...im the eternal druid/cleric... Btw i didnt realize some big boy models have that much dmg?! Which ones are those? Archaon, Nagash?
  23. Im still wondering how that works actually, i guess i have to take the beastmen as allies? And isnt the battallion to big to take as allies, what are the pros and cons. But hey, im still learning this game dont know much of it yet. btw does anyone has some experiemce with GUO with bilesword. I know most players love to bring GUO with the bell, but i was wondering if peeps have, hopefully, positive experience with the GUO with sword they woukd like to shair. Grtz
  24. I have absolutely no idea of any tactics yet, i was actually hoping someone had done something similar already and had some advice. Maybe i should focus on a small army first, 1000 points and see how it goes. slowly build up tryin to gain some experience playin completely daemon. ( As i said, it's just for fun, i have absolutely not the intention to try and make it competetive, just dont want to loose all the time) Maybe a GUO and 2 units of 30 PB (980 points) and just slowly spread out over the battlefield.... and summon more PB and/or nurglings... (Hmm this might be fun actually!)
  25. Thx for the input, peasant also, but no, i didnt think it completely true yet. This my first idea. About summoning i imagened drones ad/or plaguebearers. But i have to say, i also have bad experience with the plaguebearers, especially in small groups. Maybe it’s just impossible to be somewhat competetive with a complete nurgle daemon list.
