  1. Back from the dead! Babies and surgeries and life get in the way of nerding it turns out. Some recent progress on the mammoth. Not happy with the width of the head and his last leg will be difficult what with the tusk I added before thinking but he is getting there.
  2. There are a few things you are neglecting. One, even though the Mammoth is a monster and will trigger more than a few special abilities from it he is on model. Getting ten Kings into a fight at the same time is pretty difficult against someone who can mess with combat placement. Next, Kings get dunked on extremely hard by Stormcast and Death armies. Now, might not be relevant to everyone but if it is it is. It is way harder to mess with a Mammoth than it is Kings in general. Any -1 to hit effectively shuts them down. Lastly while Blightkings can be pretty mobile they’ll never be as fast as a base 12” Mammoth and that can be huge. Game if inches and all that. Bonus extra, they are freaking War Mammoths!
  3. To food for thought the above advice. Big units on 40mm bases are incredibly unwieldy. There is a lot of opportunity to mess with them and reduce their effectiveness in any particular combat. If you are digging the Harbinger/mortal interactions I’d suggest doubling down on it. Drop the Nurglings, the Kings and bump the 20 Marauders to 40 and add a min unit of Warriors, they aren’t going to do much but are our cheapest battleline tax option. After that I’d look at things like Chaos Sorcer Lords for Demonic Empowerment and Ocular Vision, Warshrines for the 6+++ and wound rerolls, Lords of Blight for that sweet -2/-1 to hit, or, if you are a Gentleman of refined taste with a little sculpting aptitude, a Chaos War Mammoth. Because holy cow(Mammoth) those things are efficient.
  4. Back to Nurgle! Sort of. One of my 2k lists “Archaon Bomb” employs a Mighty Lord of Khorne on Juggernaut. Well those nerds are expensive so I scrounged up a Juggernaut and turned the Mighty Lord from the old 2 player starter into a Lord on Juggernaut. WiP
  5. A little paint on the Engine of the Thunder Gods... or something! I’ll be back to the Mammoth this week and hoping for near completion by the weekend.
  6. Kitbashing/sculpting up a new Engine of the Gods. Turns out the more Engines you run in a game the less likely it is people will play you in the future!
  7. It’s been a minute and in the intervening time I got distracted by giant dinosaurs and dinosaurs riding dinosaurs and space wizard frogs! I’ve got this whole narrative worked out where my Slann decided to give his memories a home and splintered a Realmgate just a tiny bit to create a pocket reality where his memories could be given life. Tzeentch being the guy he is discovered this and what was supposed to be a tropical island paradise is now a snow blasted wasteland. Enter snow lizards!
  8. Nurgle really is spoiled for choices, Mortals are great at turning 40 man Maruader units into nightmare deathball, tar pit, murder machines and deamons can play the objective game second only to Seraphon. Then there are Archaon shenanigans for days. The only advice I have is don’t mix the kool’aid. Mortals or Deamons, and their respective support.
  9. Has anyone played around with skimping on battleline to front load summoning potential? Something like, Slann Starpriest Engine of the Gods 10 Skinks x2 3x Razordons /w handlers Trogladon Clocking in at 1000 points, our current league level. The game plan here is to pin down soft targets with a teleporting Trog, shove Razordons at blobs, use the skinks to run interference on anything looking to jump the Slann and summoning as much as possible. Our next level is 1250 where I would add an Astrolith Bearer and more Battleline, probably Knights.
  10. In that case I’d go with a start collecting! Obviously your mileage will vary here but I’ve always disliked random attack stat lines so am not a big fan of bastiladons.
  11. Skinks, stegadon, the flying guys, start collecting, Slann, vortex, bastiladon would probably be my buy order. Im enjoying tossing Trogladons around but have not had much use for the Carnos yet. Mind you I’ve only got access to two and am playing around 1k points at the moment so take my Carno opinion with a grain of salt. Would absolutely get a bucket full of skinks however!
  12. It is before the roll of, the roll off to pick sides is included in the picking of the sides. That being said I always try to centralize my free tree as much as possible. With the big blocks of Marauders/Monks/Plaguebearers I tend to take if I need the run+charge I can conga line to make it happen.
  13. GUOs are 340 points of support. The Bell, then better casting and the command ability are worth it. If you are taking them for beats they will under perform every time.
  14. Been a minute but ran out of putty and have been doing a little painting for a friend, the Mammoth is getting a little fur done.
  15. Not a fan of catapults in a tournament setting. I swear to God it’s the only piece in the entire game with an arbitrary “fluff dictates how it works” rule that unfortunately makes it useless against a fairly popular at the moment army.
  16. Dig the list! I’d love to roll a Thrice Fold list but am gun shy about dropping another 300 bucks for one list. As for the list itself you could look at the following, it occurs to me the lists bellow aren’t actually in your line up. In which case making your General the Harbinger and slapping Rustfang in his hands is probably were I would go! Don’t like Nurglings or Drones and Archie and Company definitely want their own list!
  17. Well if we assume he is effectively 140 points and compare him to our other options at that range he is far and away better stat for stat. His eight wounds and three up/five up make him extremely tanky and he kind of hits like a truck to boot. Now, he isn’t bringing much to the table after his tree and stats but I’ve found it more than enough. Also is should be considered that his tree comes down after deployment and you don’t need to be wholly within 7 to use its run and charge ability. Which means with a conga line you can have a lot more flexibility with your free tree drop.
  18. The Slimux tree is dropped on top of him turn one, it isn’t getting shut off anytime soon. You aren’t putting 5 trees on the table, you are putting two. If you don’t like him don’t play him.
  19. Well Slimux isn’t about making summoning viable, it is just about efficiency. He drops a tree turn one which will over the 5 turn game generate between 5 and 15 points with an average of about 10. Those points equal on average about 80 build points which makes him a 140 model. When you consider his stat line and abilities that makes him a great buy regardless of other factors.
  20. Here is two flavors, one is more of an all comers list and the other is heavily weighted to fight anything without guns. I understand why everyone is super into ambush mechanics but we seriously don’t need them. Now, if Nurglings weren’t stuck to deploying in cover I’d be more in favor of starting every list with them but it is to easy to deny them their ability in AoS. Also not paying 300 points for it either.
  21. Dig it! Fingers crossed they are treated well when their update drops.
  22. Our summoning isn’t bad, it wins games. It just isn’t what everyone else’s is. I could be wrong but I think chasing incidental Contagion Points with things like Epi and the Lord is sort of a red herring. Slimux on the other, I think that guy is the bees knees. Since his ability and tree farming happen at the same time you get to pick the order. So turn one sees you getting 6-10 points on turn one. Coupled with the fact that Slimux is actually decent in combat and dude seems like a winner in any list.
  23. Alpha strike armies that can keep you in your deployment zone. The only reliable deep strike we have is Spume and 300 points is a huge investment in something that might not even work. Worst case scenario, which I played through mind you, is getting locked into your deployment zone with your only tree shut down.
  24. Some work on my Gnarlmaw sculpt. I got tired of looking at it so I threw some quick paint and am playing around with embellishment. Nurgling weenie roast?
