  1. In rare occasions GW will release: 1) A limited edition of a product - eg a signed book, special hardback binding, different cover etc.. 2) A limited bonus item - eg the early orders of Adepticus Titanicus got a metal coin. 3) A product of limited quantities - again the big boxed set for Adepticus Titanicus Those are all good reasons to pre-order direct from GW or to pre-order early from your local retailer (baring in mind many promotional items/orders only work if ordered direct through GW itself. Otherwise reasons to order can be just to have something on or very near to the launch day and to not have to wait longer. Generally speaking GW pre-orders are pretty safe. You know their general quality, their overall product style and production values etc... So its often very low risk. Very unlike, say, computer games where even quality companies can put out a lemon of a game at launch.
  2. Plus its a great excuse for some fancy dancing blades of death in some witch aelf models!
  3. This isn't a rumour, but more a prediction. A lot of the early AoS fiction that I am slowly reading through has an interesting common theme. Women resistance fighters. Not just lingering humans, but band of survivors who are very clearly led by women - or rather a woman. It makes me wonder if when GW come to make a human focused faction for AoS if it will have several hero women to represent this aspect of the people of the Realms. They might even have a Sisters of Battle style faction (that might be just female dominated).
  4. Well in theory the only new things are the Start Collecting box, the Battle tome, the cards and the Endless spells. So that's really not that much new stuff. GW might spread it out over two weeks if they want, but that would more be to generate more marketing interest than due to sales volume. If anything launching a new faction should make the getting started box a prime thing to sell on the launch day along with the battletome.
  5. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/09/13/13th-sept-the-long-road-to-armies-on-parade-part-1gw-homepage-post-3/ Daughters related article on Armies on Parade!
  6. It's 9pm in the UK so there won't be any more updates - the only time they do updates outside of the 9-5 working ours is when its a big event (esp if its overseas). Still wouldn't worry they've still got a whole pre-sale week to go.
  7. Close combat isn't really a case of attacks and retaliations, but rather each player picks a viable unit in close combat to attack with until you both can't pick one; alternating between you and your opponent for each unit chosen. The Temple ability lets you attack for a second time right after your first attack, so it happens before your opponent gets to choose their next viable unit. In addition it only gives your unit another attack, it does not give your opponents unit another attack option. So the only time it would give your opponent another combat phase would be if your unit targeted and moved into range of a second enemy unit that was, prior to the pile in move, not in combat range. Though as your unit has to be within 3 inches of the enemy unit already, chances are that this would be a very rare if impossible situation. So by and large you get an extra attack round from your unit, but your opponent doesn't.
  8. The only bad thing about the Beasts of Chaos release is the lack of a Daughters of Khaine Getting Started boxed set! Otherwise yeah its a fantastic release for AoS and fans of the old Beastmen faction and Dragon Ogres and Giants! Great to see Chaos almost fully cleaned up too as a Grand Alliance - only needs Slaanesh and Skaven to go!
  9. I got the daughter ones and agree, the product idea is sound but the text is so tiny that its a pain to read; it certainly defeats the point of a quick reference card when you have to pick it up to read!
  10. I think GW is just focusing on putting most of the Classic series into a collection of collected books to cut down on the amount of hardcopies they have to have for that range. It cuts down a huge amount on storage and market and also makes it easier for new people to get into the classics when its all collected in fairly self contained or long series of linked collected editions.
  11. It's a war between your wallet and @Skreech Verminking 's (in)sanity then! My money is that Skreech's willpower for more skaven sooner will beat your will that your wallet remain safe!
  12. Unlikely as that is a Warhammer Chronicles release and thus focused on the old world. GW have been steadily taking many of the stories and short stories and putting them into collected editions on the BL website in digital and print form. The Dwarves just got one released yesterday. So it won't coincide with any AoS release - the closest might be a "cast on demand" series of models if anything.
  13. New release added, Masters of Steel and Stone! Includes the Dwarfs series of Grudge Bearer, Oathbreaker and Honourkeeper. As well as the following stand along stories, The Doom of Dragonback, Ancestral Grudge and City of Dead Jewels (also featured in the Age of Legends collection)
  14. Ah yes true there is the Khorn and Slaanesh boxed set - and we don't even know yet if that is going to contain anything new for either faction. Though there are strong hopes for at least one new model for Slaanesh - and if it follows Forgebane then it might have new kits for both (plastic Slaanesh fiends and khorn hounds?!) GW has teased it strongly already so I don't think it will be after Christmas - their line up is so chock full they don't need to tease more than a few months ahead for most things that are not Sisters of Battle.
  15. We know that Beasts of Chaos are in September and October swings back to Orks for 40K as the big release. There's also Genestealers lurking somewhere for a release this year as well. After that the only other near certain is a Slaanesh release in the new year (based on the advancing AoS story and on the fact that the last 3 years we've had a big new year Chaos release and Slaanesh is about time to get a turn). Otherwise everything else is up in the air with random rumours. Grots are strongly rumoured, but not even a real hint for them yet from GW. We know there are two more unique Aelf factions to come at some point and we have a strong feeling that we'll at least see a few more armies tidied up like Beasts of Chaos are (eg Skaven). It actually looks rather hopeful that this time next year we could have a very complete series of organised armies for AoS
  16. So my two Bloodbowl assassins have arrived! Curious to see FW products in resin in a blister pack (as opposed to the little bags they normally come in). The male assassin is a single chunk of resin! Quit impressive to see a model like it come out of a single casting with no additional parts! He's quite chunky in body, even compared to a Warlock so seems large and suitably "from anotherfaction" compared to Daughters (who are quite lithe and thin). The female is slightly thinner and a bit closer and made up of several easy to put together parts. They are also made on larger bases than the 25mm that Assassins come on, the female pose is easy to put on the base, the male "just" fits with the toes of both feet dangling over the edge. I've no regular assassin to compare them to for size/scale or comparison of overall detail, but I'd say these two work very well in their role! I'll get some photos later when I've got more time to show.
  17. Skaven are like a few other armies in that if they just clean them up and give them a single Battletome they are ready to go with little more than needing 3 endless spells. Provided AoS gets a year of Battletomes now that 40K is mostly out of the way (though tey are sure dragging their heels with those orks and stealers), it should clean up AoS no end! Heck by the 2019 Generals Handbook we could have a very neat game with multiple completed bigger factions!
  18. It's nurgle, it probably has an army of its own maggots underneath it - or cockroaches or worms or a mix! Also its muscle structure is likely all over the place so it might be able to build up quite a speed bounding along like a walrus - whilst bits of it fall off and ooze and puss dribble and splurt from its various openings and sores; all to a cloud of belching festering smells that make your stomach turn!
  19. Its from the new Rouge Traders Kilteam game that's going on sale this weekend. It's the loyal hound of the Rouge trader side. Although with that armour I can see many getting pinched on ebay by Stormcast players!
  20. Darn I love that huge claw on her! Really wish GW could do something like her! Raging heroes have some fantastic sculpts and I've eyed more than a few with a mind to getting some some day - some I dislike (like their take on fiends) but I do love some of their work and its clear that they've got some great inspiration. It's almost a shame that they can't cut it out alone and make their own identity instead of just making alternates; but still greatly respect their designs!
  21. Bloodbowl has some neat options indeed for special characters or unique units in AoS - I've already got 2 Dark Elf Assassins for Shadowblade Assassins (well by got I mean they are somewhere in the post between me and Foregworld )
  22. Well at least that noble hound is not one of the tainted from Chaos!
  23. FW must be burning the midnight oil or their email server takes a while to send out messages - just got an update that my pair of Bloodbowl assassins have shipped! Looking forward to seeing them in the flesh - er resin. In other news I'd remind Daughters players that I still need contributions to this :
  24. By "Realm stuff" I do mean how GW handles and deals with things like realm spells, artifcats and the like. that whole area can chop and change, vanish or stay or be significantly altered as its just words on a page - as opposed to models. It's also my impression that there is more debate on the balance and structure of the artifacts introduced in MS as opposed to the Endless Spells added to the game. As for battletomes, there are a lot of factions that are one model or are only one half of a duel kit. Some have one unique model that is finecast and not even in plastic. As a result many of those tiny factions are in a risky position and could be removed. Of course GW has shown that they'd rather combine them and keep them and that is the path I hope they take; but until they confirm it with an update to those factions specifically we really don't know.
