RuneBrush
It's likely just orange pigments that have stuck to the side of the pot. While the white topped metallics do contain metal pigments (which is why they cost more), gold/brass doesn't rust when it oxidises.
Overread
Get some small glass beads and put one or two in to help agitate when you're using a mixer. It really makes a huge difference as the agidator helps churn things up a lot more than simple shaking on its own will achieve. Some use metal ball bearings instead, but whilst they are easily bought (though no easier nor harder than glass beads); their quality can be far more variable and if you get a bad batch or a cheap brand (without realising) then they could degrade and rust over time - contaminating your paint. Glass will basicaly never run that risk so its a much safer investment and will do the job just as well.
