Counting wounds

For official tournaments rules do you count how many wounds the model has taken or do you count down how many wounds the model has left? (when you place a dice counter beside the model)

There isn't an official method.  As @Platypus I tend to do Wounds Suffered as it matches the warscroll (to make my life easier), however I do frequently play opponents who do Wounds Remaining (which is how 40k Datasheets work). 

Personally, providing you communicate with your opponent and do the same for everything in your army there shouldn't be too much confusion - I have played opponents who did Wounds Suffered for anything with a damage table and Wounds Remaining for everything else - which is needlessly confusing!

For me how many they have taken. It's easier to see current stats for monsters, so I do it for all models for consistency.
