Malakithe
Been away for a while and now im back to looking at Death among other things (they are round and smile a lot). So im curious about how LoN is currently looking. Ive seen that Nighthaunt units are bleeding into the mix of LoN stuff and I can see why. I started playing around with a list im liking but im having trouble filling it out and fleshing out details. I went with GHoN mostly for the more punchy Morghast and better Summonable healing. With all the Ethereal stuff I can see this being tankier then it would appear. My questions are what should I fill the last of the points with? And is GHoN a good Legion with this list or is another one better? Also not sure what spells to give the Vamps. Help is appreciated. Avatar Rage
You might be a smidge better going 20-20 with those chainrasps. That’s just me though. I usually fill out the last few points with a banshee or cairn wraith. They are cheap, overlooked and can really do a lot of damage when used right. themortalgod
I think GHoN is definitely the way to go. You could consider bringing in a Guardian of Souls given how much Nighthaunt you have. His aura is amazing and his spell will make your units even more annoying to kill. He can also be on "Mystic Shield" duty when you have nothing to revive. I'm not a fan of Balewind vortex. It used to be godly but now it is pretty crappy. Morghasts are really cool but they are mega over-costed. Nothing wrong bringing em for the rule of cool but if your goal is overall power then dropping them is a good idea. For the vampires, I really like Orb on the winged guy while Transference is awesome on the VLoZD. A well positioned Orb can be devastating and I find a winged vampire is small and mobile enough to position for it. I'm not a fan of Bane of the Living as it is a pretty small increase in damage output. I would go for the Aura personally or Master of Death. Evil Bob
Just double checking Malakithe that you are comfortable with your Necromancers survivability without Skelletons. The meta in your area may be such that they don’t need the perk. I deployed four Morghasts Harbingers with the halberds during our local AOS League last year and that +1 Attack was gold. After the six league matches and during bracketed tourmament if I had used my VLoZD’s CA on them I could have made it into the semi-finals. Their results are real dependent on the dice since so few are rolled with huge modifiers behind them. Less reliable than the armies with more dice and lower damage, but oodles of fun for a gambling man.
Malakithe
Good things to think about. I was thinking about splitting the Hordes up. I initially was going to use the unit of 10 as body blockers while the big unit was the grinder but splitting would give more board pressure. Also im tempted to ally in the Chainrasp battalion seeing as how I have the points and it would give +1 CP and +1 artrfact. A Guardian of Souls sounds good and their spell is amazing. Works in the small battalion too. After rereading the balewind ill probaby drop it. The additional range is what I wanted but not worth the hassle unless im bringing Arkhan. The Morghast, while being stupid expensive, are there as armor crackers and possible escorts for the VLoZD. And they can hit like trucks. Vile is probably best on the VLoZD to make him even more tanky. While Orb can be very hit and miss a lack of anything else really stand out makes it okay. Aura is probably best for better survivability. As far as the Necros survivability goes I would think its the same since his ability covers Summonable. If I gave him a artefact it might help. Im liking what im seeing so far guys.
