Citadel woods. Movable trees?

Mikeymajq

Question

We had a question come up from our latest game. Are the trees on the Citadel woods/Sylvaneth wyldwoods moveable and simply there to make it look like a wood(decoration basically) and it's only the base that counts. Or are they "solid" and you have to move around them etc?

They are indeed solid. Even the core rules say "Unless stated otherwise, a model can be moved over a terrain feature but not through it (so models can’t move through a wall, or pass through a tree, but can climb up or over them)". And now they also block Linie of Sight.

A typical way to play is to remove the trees for convenience as required, but consider the cutouts where the trees sit to be impassable. ie. remove the trees so that the branches don't get in the way, but not move models over top of where the trunks would go.

This is not the only way to play it, just a common way.

With woods now blocking LOS regardless of physical shape, I think moving the trees is going to become far more commonplace.
