ParachuteHopper
As I've been getting into AoS and building my first army as Kharadron Overlords, I've been looking at a lot of KO builds lately. It seems that clown car is the current meta build, which is fine, but I was hoping to hear what the community thinks of KOs current allies options, as I am sure I'll want to change up my painting in the future, while still building towards a viable army build. With 400 points, and access to only Duardin and SE, we don't seem to have a huge amount of options if we want to keep the KO allegiance abilities: We could take a large number of Dwarf Warriors or Longbeards with a Runesmith to act as a durable screen for our ranged units, yet their mobility will be a huge issue. Also, why bother with Dispossessed ranged units when we have our own that we can transport via airship? Vulkite Berserkers with a Runesmiter could be a great potential way to teleport a tar-pit onto the board wherever we decide we need one. (Can you buy a Runesmiter on its own? Or do people just sub another hero model as a Runesmiter in this situation?) Knight Azyros has an ability that synergizes extremely well with KO, and you could take a unit of Fulminators/Vanguard Palladors as escort and a source of mortal wounds that KO otherwise lack. I would love to hear other options or opinions on allies for KO.
Thalassic Monstrosity
I've also been considering this. I think the Start Collecting box for Fyreslayers may be a great choice to start out with for allies; Berserkers seem to be a good, durable melee counterpart to the Kharadron (assisted, of course, by their good heroes). ParachuteHopper
The only thing I don't like about the start collecting box is making the magmadroth work. You can't fit everything in the box in 400 points of allies, so you are better just getting the single runesmiter on foot and a couple packs of berserkers. angrycontra
Well malign portents lord-ordinator for stormcast have hit-buffing aura for warmachines. Him along with knight azyros could be nice buff to kharadron airships (+1 to hit with hit re-rolls of 1). Only issue is that he's slow so he needs to run behind those ships constantly. Unfortunately I have no use for the Magmadroth (as cool as it looks) so I've ended up selling it on. Seems like a very handy and tough little unit to slap down on an objective and hold out for a couple of turns.

I love the idea of having a small melee force of fyreslayers in my army, but I am not on board with painting 100 naked dwarves (or buying 100 naked dwarves, for that matter.) The tournament isn't until August (I need *plenty* of painting time!) but I'll certainly try and keep you updated when I get some friendly games in with it! ParachuteHopper
It has also occured to me that organ guns with a cogsmith could be an interesting way of dealing with hordes. It doesn't necessarily shore up a weakness of KO, it just makes their ranged even more scary. Does Ironweld have much a presence as allies? the potential for 8d6 attack at 28" with 3+, 3+, -1 is kind of crazy.

All kinds of ways you can play around battleshock. I would think it would be harder to play around artillery. Also, why not both?
