  1. Surely it puts the fire out if its their best AoS launch by some margin? They arent allowed to lie on these things and that does not read particularly ambiguously. Pretty certain they did overproduce ofc but it clearly sold well.
  2. Yeah I think the Skaven range is wide and old enough they couldn't fix it in one pass, so triage really needed to get the clan battle lines cleared up and bring back/replace the lost Eshin stuff as they seem the worst off, might be biased ofc
  3. I think all it actually needs is units becoming battleline based on your warlord, just like other factions. Possibly some rules for a masterclan over-boss as that seems to be how they typically operate in the fluff anyhow, IE and existing army with leadership gets the honour of being also (and more importantly) lead by a Grey seer too Then you could potentially add in sub-factions based on the prominent clans but im not sure you need to tbh, and i say that running a pure Eshin list
  4. Damn, i may be biased but that article left me still with no urge to buy the box, but sad that GW is ignoring the superior Rats in Submarines concept
  5. Well the entire range bar an underworlds band and the bombadier is pre AoS, couple of bits are 90's era... Seems thats pretty much whats happening... (Though in fairness they did get a solid range update not long before endtimes as i recall?)
  6. Ive been all but told some Eshin stuff is coming "soon" from someone who would know but it could really be for any of the Warhammer games, fingers crossed i guess.
  7. Bit of an incorrect assumption there about timescales, as i understand it they often have plenty of time to work on things for a book, reams gets tossed or delayed based on other factors and the plans for models, they might have been working on FS on and off the whole time whether or not they get souped, they got two books with a pitiful range, what makes you think they would be losing out much more than column inches in a joint book anyway? Personally i wouldnt want them anywhere near the proper dwarf armies but i dont think its some crippling insult if it did happen, especially as one of the alternatives is just nothing at all, come back in a few years.
  8. I mean literally any faction can support a full book if you are using FS as your standard, its more a case of SHOULD they Id expect every new book to get a vanguard asap, its just supply is utter chaos behind the scenes right now and its bumping stuff all over the place, and repacks like that are much easier to shift.
  9. The return of Triads Sorcerers (With a couple more shadow themed spells!) and even the weird guy from WHQ would be ace, not sure you need to dilute the theme with oni or bloody pirates though. Snipers, bombers and poisoners are all assassin archetypes that step on the other clans shoes a bit much unfortunately. I can definitely see Skaven getting a new book, its a bit overly prescriptive and out of step with the rest regards sub factions and battle line right now and a few units have had their battlescrolls completely replaced or werent included, especially if we do get the rumoured warcry/underworlds stuff.
  10. That does have a huge amount to do with game mechanics though, which are radically different to the actual Warhammer game, like, barely related. In particular Beastmen (Chaos in general even) are near unplayable in TW apparently, which is going to particularly skew the results and i can confirm for myself the Dwarf campaign in TW 1 is tedious garbage that put me off playing them later on despite them being one of my faves and oldest, arguably biggest Warhammer army (In points, Skaven and Undead have soooo many more minis lol) not to mention DLC's people dont own etc etc.
  11. Yeah some folks will make a fuss at the slightest creativity but really they are best avoided when you can and they rarely run events in my experience. 3rd party bits which are essentially the same as the old metals really shouldnt be a problem! Got another game in with my Eshin today, damn Stormcast are awkward to assassinate! The lack of rend is a real uphill struggle but i stood a good chance of winning until my opponent pulled off an 11" charge near the end. Need a cheat sheet though, kept forgetting to throw hench rats in the way Though as one of my other buddies said "you maniac, you took a D Tier army and refused to use all the good units"
  12. *snort* i could very much say the same but i dont think that would be particularly productive, i mean if you dont think parallels and allegory exist or could be harmful there isnt much point in talking about it is there? If you want to sling mud though, it was you bringing up Chaos tribes, when the AoS team have made it fairly clear there is a lot more out there, in this months white dwarf even. I think you leaping to that conclusion might say a lot more about you than it does the setting eh?
  13. So you are saying Colonialism is fine when used against subhuman heathens? Sounds familiar... I dont think these things were laughed out by the writers, because i dont think the writers are actually arseholes (Because generally they arent) they just didnt have the outside perspective to see where it was all going, and seeing as if im right its cost the company time and money that only reinforces the importance of it. Its not about hope either, repeatedly going over just how grimderp suicidal the whole thing is is wasting word count that could be used for literally anything else like talking about how the different Order factions organise or support their crusades which is sorely lacking imho. Hell, a two page spread describing different ways of moving the floaty rocks instead of just raw manpower? Wind spirits, clanking steam wagons, harnessed hydras, Ironclads etc etc the potential is pretty limitless.
  14. I suspect its purely sprue space as you see them for smaller races, or smaller mounts, i guess even a basic horse and man sized figure would use too much real estate?
  15. Crusade itself isnt the problem, obviously, its used heavily in 40k without a problem after all, if anything its passé because its so horrifically overused as a fantasy trope like guilds. No, its the overall context that comes together badly, the very specific colonial overtones, the try hard peasants crusade imagery and the constant insistence that most of these groups are the equivalent of building a castle on a swamp, 3 or 4 tries along itll work out fine but mostly its a suicide mission. It very much reeks of the team getting excited by some ideas and noone asking important questions until it was too late, that and it landing like a problematic damp squib at the end The Emprie look is cool definitely, and a huge part of setting Warhammer apart from the generic dark ages-ish vaguely medieval fantasy dross a lot of games spit out. Though i would like an Imperial guard style alternate option or two to mix up the look, which is what OW is going to end up providing i think, with that on the horizon GW has to be thinking another set of humans probably wouldnt be the greatest use of resources right now, not ruling it out ofc, something ahistorical and copyrightable will always make the lawyers happy at least lol
  16. Yeah anything claiming a release (Bar a new edition level thing that needs loads of planning) is set in stone past 3 months is wrong, especially in the current chaos. Even before its starting to not line up with reality. I do wonder if the Dawnbringer crusades have been knocked back due to the negative connotations actually, the rulebook, campaign system and early terrain releases seemed to support them being a big thing but then... nothing? No real rumours about anything either. Things like terrain and the rulebook text have a longer lead time so i dont think its a coincidence they are the only mentions. Ech, i suspect we will never know either way.
  17. Eww i think youve confused dwarf fans with basement dwellers there... Plenty of Dwarves in Wow, levelled a couple myself and was part of a purely dwarf guild in classic to boot. Its a popular fantasy race, included in pretty much every setting that has various races around in some form, and lets be honest, there are absolutely no shortage of fantasy races out there Hell, Elf fan/Dwarf fan is like the Cat people/ Dog people of fantasy gaming
  18. Definitely this, i dont think the answer to misogyny is misandry, the answer is to kick that gear to equality. Especially in species like Dwarves and Ogres where even their weakest examples can typically out armwrestle the vast majority of humans Also this Flesh those nations out a bit. It actually occurs to me that FS are like a horrible caricature of OW slayers, guessing no dwarf fans on the first lot of designers? But what to do with the range on top of that? Ditch the silly helmets, bring back mowaks and loads or room to sculpt a really characterful gurning face, look at the original metals and they still hold up today! Id also go back to more dwarven weapon designs, the FS ones are weird and spindly half the time. Then bring in a unit or two of civvie FS militias maybe and give them the helmets mimicking the warriors crests, crew some war machines, crossbows or form defensive shield lines. Like proper dwarves. Contrasting strongly with the KO and their mad engineering.
  19. Yeah the FS model range is awfully executed but i think the flaws go deeper, they took an iconic unit (army even) and completely missed the point of why it was good and popular and went in almost the opposite direction. I mean there is a reason Gotrek is disgusted by them after all. Cavalry/Chariots/Warengines are well and good but i really think they need to sort out the rot at the core of the range primarily.
  20. Some good looking Skyre there Gutted i sold my own Skyre force years ago! Still, rolled out my Eshin for a lil test prior to our Campaign weekend and it went... ehhh My List (Very limited by the initial Campaign mode restrictions, max 6 units and nothing over 300pts!) : 600pts Warlord Battalion Deathmaster General, Cube of mists Deathmaster The 3 Fangs Deathmaster 20 Night runners 10 Night Runners 5 Gutter runners Coming up against: Vampire Dragon Centaur 5 Blood Knights 10 Skeletons (Possibly summoned) Fighting over objectives down the centre line. I reasoned i couldnt outrun such a fast force so moved up to focus fire on his general, knocking off a couple of wounds before getting smooshed on the charge pretty much! All 3 assassins had a go at the general to no use, only for my Three Fangs to instagib it in my next shooting phase much to everyones shock Unfortunately despite some early VPs from objectives the Blood Knights unstoppably mowed through my units one at a time and i could never get enough damage to stick past their regen to even slow them down really. Fun game, but i realised i cant let them charge, even risky long ones need to speedbump better and looking forward to the 1000pt bracket when i can fit a verminlord!
  21. You are also missing grognards who dont use instagram, or dont use hashtags, or dont use the official army names, or use old versions. I know no methodology is perfect which is going to skew numbers a bit too. Interesting way to look at things though For example, this afternoon our group played (According to the armies owners) Sigmarines v Orcs and Eshin/Skaven v Vampires
  22. Id support FS getting 4 more units if they ditch the AoS trappings and go back to the old Slayer look, tell a lie, keep the skin runes thats quite cool. Fluffwise just have Gotreks obvious contempt for FS spark some religious debate and a return to the "old ways"
  23. Being featured in the fluff is absolutely no guarantee of models, Sisters of Silence for example pop up in a bunch of Heresy stuff and feature in most if not all Indomnitus Crusade pieces in a small capacity but they have less models than either Fireslayers or Ironjaws (but at least they look a bit different haaaa ) and they just got their chance at love from daddy GW for the next 4 years. I think its fair to say both those AoS factions were also conceived and launched in the period when the AoS studio was aiming for "pump and dump" armies with no future support ever planned, with the timescales they work on for new minis its possible we wont see anything soon even now if they were keener on other, better selling products. Still! The 40k team in particular seems to be working through the back catalogue doing range renewals at a fair clip, perhaps AoS might get a turn at the revamp wheel in the future?
  24. Oh look, a third Fyreslayer mini, at least this one's helmet is less stupid. The Idoneth is quite nice, just not, wow, I gotta start this army nice. Hopi g for Eshin in q2 as my formerly 2000pt Eshin army is much smaller these days and I'm sure triple vermin lord is too mean
  25. Urgh, Fyreslayers getting their paws on an Anvil of doom would only work as part of some dastardly scheme to shatter a realm via their ancestors turning in their graves Fingers crossed for firebellies somehow with a Fyreslayer maneater
