I realize its somewhat of an impossible question to answer 100% effectively, but I am looking to get into the hobby it'd irk me if I later found out I bought and painted the most common army that everybody is sick of playing against.

I've checked Ebay, but I can only find the new zombie models, or pre-painted ones.
