Only having played one game with the local store demo minis from the box I straight away started thinking of all the Warbands I could make with minis I already owned (which my wife is very pleased about!)
My first Gloomspite Gitz roster ended up looking like this...
Boingrot Boss (leader)
Boingrot Bounder
Stabba with spear
Stabba with spear
Stabba with spear
Stabba with spear
Squig herder
Cave Squig
950pts
After reading some of of the comments on here though I may change that to....
Boingrot Boss (leader)
Boingrot Bounder
Stabba with spear
Stabba with spear
Stabba with spear
Stabba with Net
Stabba with Net
Squig herder
Cave Squig
970pts
As it looks like the Nets can be really handy, from those hat have played with squigs though am I better off trying to make a different list with more? Do they work better in numbers?
Admittedly I did try and get a range of these guys in the first roster so I can play with a lot of different things and then try add more that I like and less I don't etc etc

Anyone interested in the Sylvaneth half of Looncurse? Looking to sell for £38 preferably UK for postage costs but if your happy to pay then will send anywhere really.
Cheers 🍻

I understand your point. I think it works out fine on the table though.
It probably has something to do with Squig Hoppers having 2 wounds prior to this new battletome and GW deciding not to change that even though they decided to increase the wounds from 1 to 2 for Squig Herds. I just view it as a nice bonus for regular Squig Herds rather than an issue with Hoppers or Bounders.
That's a good way to look at it, I think I shall join you in your point of view.
It's one of those things that I think would be a bit over the top to have 3 wounds on then but also sends the math array and doesn't make sense when you think about it... So i shall not think about 😁

Because obviously a grot does not really count for much compared to a squig!
😂😂
Whilst I can certainly agree they aren't worth much it still bugs me...
Grot Stabba/shoota = 1 wound
Squig in herd = 2 wounds
Grot + Squig = 2 wounds???
🤯

What I don't get is if an individual squig as part of a squig herd is 2 Wounds a piece then why are squig hoppers and Boingrot bounders 3 Wounds a piece? Squig + rider

Been playing about with this for a double Hag list, again trying to stick to pure Trogg and getting some extra magic in...
Allegiance: Gloomspite Gitz
Mortal Realm: Chamon
Leaders
Dankhold Troggboss (300)
- General
- Trait: Loonskin
- Artefact: Argentine's Tooth
Troggoth Hag (380)
- Artefact: Alchemical Chain
Troggoth Hag (380)
Battleline
6 x Rockgut Troggoths (320)
3 x Rockgut Troggoths (160)
3 x Rockgut Troggoths (160)
Battalions
Troggherd (180)
Endless Spells
Scrapskuttle's Arachnacauldron (50)
Chronomantic Cogs (60)
Total: 1990 / 2000
Extra Command Points: 1
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 92
...just one option for Artefacts, this one would give 3 dispels a turn

But no wizard at all is a bad idea in my opinion, no dispel, no control on endless spells and no Moon clan spells from the cauldron !
Especially HoG, imagine using it on the Troggboss and then using Gorrdrakk command ability, add the Cogs and you can charge from 9" with 3D6 + 2 !!
Yes it's not a great list, the Loonshrine is also irrelevant as it's Gloomspite, you've found the right Battleline cheap orruks to allow those wizards of mentioned
-
There are many scary things about that list and that idea, although in 2000 points it's hard to fit other things around it, based on the minis I have could run
Allegiance: Destruction
Mortal Realm: Ghyran
Leaders
Dankhold Troggboss (300)
- General
- Trait: Wild Fury
- Artefact: Ghyrstrike
Gordrakk the Fist of Gork (580)
Battleline
20 x Stabbas (130)
- Pokin Spears & Moon Shields
- 3x Barbed Nets
- 1x Moonclan Flag Bearers
20 x Stabbas (130)
- Pokin Spears & Moon Shields
- 3x Barbed Nets
- 1x Moonclan Flag Bearers
20 x Stabbas (130)
- Pokin Spears & Moon Shields
- 3x Barbed Nets
- 1x Moonclan Flag Bearers
Units
3 x Rockgut Troggoths (160)
3 x Rockgut Troggoths (160)
3 x Rockgut Troggoths (160)
Battalions
Troggherd (180)
Total: 1930 / 2000
Extra Command Points: 2
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 123
Stabbas with some Nets to -1 hit and the Loonshrine to respawn 10 when they die could be useful to run around and grab objectives or stay close to the Loonshrine for bravery if they could just to stay about a bit longer whilst the big guys get the job done...

You lost the Gloomspite allegiance but you got the Gordrakk command ability and the Wild Fury + Ghyrstrike combo.
Oooooooh, that looks like one hell of a find, his command giving 2 additional attacks with EACH melee weapon in a unit AND it effects all in a battalion. That's crazy on Troggherd, Rockguts getting 4 attacks each doing 3 damage everytime one gets through and Troggboss getting 6 attacks doing D6 each time it gets through
My experience with the bad moon has not been great so dropping a fairly unreliable allegiance ability for this seems pretty sweet for all Troggs, great stuff @Arkahn

Oh this is going to be amazing!!!

@Mayple congrats for posting what will be the most copied conversion on here! (I'll be doing it for sure 😀 ) great Trogboss mate, nice work
I think I've posted the list I've settled on before, for a balance of fun/kick ass...
SpoilerAllegiance: Gloomspite Gitz
LEADERS
Dankhold Troggboss (300) - General
Troggoth Hag (380)
UNITS
6 x Rockgut Troggoths (320)
3 x Rockgut Troggoths (160)
3 x Rockgut Troggoths (160)
BEHEMOTHS
Aleguzzler Gargant (160)
Aleguzzler Gargant (160)
BATTALIONS
Troggherd (180)
ENDLESS SPELLS
Scrapskuttle's Arachnacauldron (50)
Emerald Lifeswarm (60)
TOTAL: 1930/2000 EXTRA COMMAND POINTS: 2 WOUNDS: 100
LEADERS: 2/6 BATTLELINES: 3 (3+) BEHEMOTHS: 3/4 ARTILLERY: 0/4
ARTEFACTS: 0/2 ALLIES: 0/400...but I've been thinking about Rage grip as some in the club have trouble with it, being written as blade but not put on a weapon whwn we put it on his hands. Now I have to say here although that I get where they are coming from I'm not sure I completely agree as it also lists melee weapon in the description (which is clear on the Troggboss warscroll) but that's not why I'm posting this and don't want the conversation to veer too far down this track. The only reason I mention it is so you guys know why I'm looking for alternative to the Rage grip.
So I've been looking for some nice combos away from that with the boss and the hag from the list above and these are the ones I have found, thought I'd ask you guys your input on these and if you've found an good combos yourselves...
Realm - Chamon
- Boss - Argentines Tooth (Re-Roll hit rolls of 1 for club), Mighty Blow (Re-roll damage for club)
- Hag - Alchemical Chain (1 additional dispel attempt)
Realm - Aqshy
- Boss - Magmaforge Blade (Wound of 6+ 1 mortal damage in addition), Loonskin (Re-Roll 4+ regen/d3 regen until moon goes off board)
- Hag - Smouldering Helm (Save 6+ in combat phase does1 mortal wound)
Realm - Ghryan
- Boss - Ghyrstrike (+1 hit and +1 wound for club), Tough as Rocks (12 wounds to 14 wounds)
- Hag - Jade Diadem (6+ save heals 1 wound)
If I went Ragegrip with Ghur I'd also put Shardfist on Hag to give mortal wounds out on 6+ saves in combat.

That Drunken Stagger rule, without it MAYBE they could be justified. They are just so bad with it and so expensive for what they don't do 😥 I'm taking one for throne of skulls but I don't expect it to be good...
Absolutely, they tend to be amazing (sending 3d6 attacks with -1 rend at best into most things is scary AF) or absolutely rubbish (which unfortunately has been most of my experience with them previously). That can be very fun indeed when your playing at club to do that but I imagine quite frustrating in any kind of serious play, I imagine the best way to play the is like you said don't expect from them, that way when they are great it's a bonus.
I put the Emerald Lifeswarm in the list to float around with the gargants and try and give them a but survivability in an army of regen, getting to go back up the potatoe chart mid fight seems like pretty cool way to go if it goes off

@Antonio Rodrigues that whole plan sounds incredible! Can't wait to see it start. This Trogg list could work for it....

Allies: 0 / 400

I think the gargants make it not that competitive but a bit more fun, with the Battalion it adds one to their damage on every 6 to wound with all if Rockguts and Troggboss, one thing I can tell about my 2 games with Gloomspite it's people are scared of Troggs

Why would you not be able to?
Sorry I didn't make that clear at all, I meant the second Troggboss, are we able to run 2 Troggboss in a list?
I recall reading something somewhere that sounded like not although it could have been been that it wasn't recommended
Building on that list above and thinking all monsters....
I like that Boss, 12 Troggs, and 2 aleguzzler giants doing extra damage on 6s

Wanted to try something as Troggy as possible (with the minis I have).
Are we able to use Troggboss? Can't see anything that says no though I remember but can't find a few posts which would suggest otherwise....

I've only had limited games so far with the Gloomspite so I'm wondering what other people's experience has been...
When running 60 Stabbas has anyone actually lost a unit? It's great to be able to bring a unit back but from my little experience it didn't look like all 60 were going to go before the game was out, I'm trying to weigh up if it is worth breaking that down to 2 units of 40 and 20? Although you loose some of the buffs there much more manoeuvrability and may actually get a chance to bring back 10 and 20 go boss when we need it. If your running a Shaman with hand of Gork you also get more options what to move and more option to hide fanatics (if you choose them)
Of course if units of 60 can get decimated then for the buffs it would be worth it, how many of you have lost all 60 in the space of 5/6 turns?

I can totally get not liking that mini, but in my experience kids are a lot less likely to make a fuss about stuff like that than adults. To them, it's likely just gonna be *shrugs*.
Haha, very true indeed!
Although I must add my 5 year olds favourite mini are the rockguts for no other reason than their bums are showing 😂😂

Incredible!! I was actually just looking around for an alternative to the Hag and I think you've inspired me (polite way of saying I'm stealing this idea!!!)
Your army going to look incredible, it's obvious already. Unique too with the colours you've done the squigs so far
Also there are some spare ears in the Dankhold Troggboss set which could work
-
Has anyone seen any good alt models for the Troggoth Hag?
I'd like the give the FW a go but there two very big saggy obvious reasons I don't like that mini (I tend to play AoS with my kids so...). I could sculpt over it to make some kind cloth cover, the Troggoths all, cover their junk with the same thing but before I go and buy it I'd like to see if anyone's doing anything else?

List for fun, mainly cause it uses most of the models I currently have. Looking to run Troggoths together for buffs (load out general with 'ragegrip' or extra attack depending on army facing) likewise the Spiderfang, have the Stabbas and Loonboss buff and thought it would be fun to put the Shaman next to the aleguzzlers and bamf them behind enemy lines
-
Loonboss 'Stab em good' command ability, making 6s do an additional mortal wound... if we were to put that on a unit of Stabbas that had fanatics hidden inside are the fanatics also buffed by this command ability?
