  1. I have double checked the footage and it is indeed strange. Is there any chance GW messed up and their real intention was to lower the helSTORM from 180 to 160? That sounds like a more reasonable change in my ears.
  2. I saw this video yesterday: At 31:10 into the video the requirements for mercenaries in matched play are mentioned very quickly, but it doesn’t really sound like he’s actually reading out loud from the book. I don’t know. But for allies there was always the rule that additional units had to be proportional to your main force both in points and in number of units. It’s possible that someone found some crazy way to “abuse” the rules and to deter this, the adjusted the points. All of this is just me making wild guesses for fun, though
  3. They aren’t actually leaks. It’s information from youtubers who got pre release versions of the GHB and made videos reading out the new information.
  4. @Drakilian, this is what our points looked like back in the first GHB. And sadly, the point values never changed (what has changed are the names of most heroes, that we no longer have legal battalions, and that no heroes are unique anymore, so we can take many of the same if we want)
  5. True! But to have 3 units as mercenaries, you would still have to have 9 units in your main force, I think.
  6. Hello again! I’ve been playing other armies for the last year so haven’t really been as active in this thread as I was in the old one. I do, however, bring some news. For 2019 the points for Ironweld Arsenal units will stay the same, except for: Cannon: 140 points (20 point discount) Helblaster Volley Gun: 160 points (now 40 points more expensive) Steam Tank: 240 points (20 point discount) Unfortunately still no indication that the latter will become a battleline behemoth unit Cheaper Cannons are always nice though!
  7. Hey guys! I just watched Ash at GMG read through all the point changes. My beloved Chronomantic Cogs were increased from 60 to 80 points (it’s understandable but still a shame for me, since I was the only one in the local competitive scene who was using them). You can see the video here: According to Ash all things legacy were kept the same in terms of point values. Oh well. The good news is that the GHB 2019 will provide us with even more options for command abilities, which is an area where Bretonnia was lacking. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for any other interesting news about this Last edit, adding screenshot of the order page. No asterisks mean no changes:
  8. If I had a list at 1940 points I would definitely take the cogs over the extra command point. If you use them conservatively (i.e. to slow down time) you keep your caster alive for longer (which is super important) and get an extra spell. But the more interesting part is when you gamble and speed up time. Off the top of my head, I can think of at least two games that I played as Bretonnia where I won entirely thanks to the extra four inches taking me to where I needed to be. See, for example, this battle report:
  9. That’s a clever idea! The forest theme goes well with the Enchantress so it should definitely be doable. Some kit bashing will of course be needed and I would, as a matter of fact, not just cut off the antlers of the mounts but actually change the heads into horse heads completely (and then add the unicorn horn). Otherwise I think it might be hard to sell the idea that the mount is a unicorn. But beyond that I don’t see too many changes that are needed.
  10. The Chronomantic Cogs are priceless. I always take them. For damage output (or just adding the last odd points to your list) the Geminids are decent. For denying the enemy mobility/blocking/defending objectives you have the Soulsnare Shackles (which I often take for my lists since I play a mobility and objective snatching play style, never going for damage output) and the prismatic palisade.
  11. @ilaxu 'Minute' now I feel the need for a Twitter/instagram account dedicated to Bretonnian memes Regarding your casters: I have an Enchantress (Morgiana le Fay, to be exact) for sale for 26 euros. But being in Australia you would probably pay even more for the shipping...
  12. That’s true! With the awesome amount of activity in this thread lately, imagine how it would explode if we actually got some points reductions!
  13. Unfortunately that’s a no, at least for this year. See the new article about GHB 2019: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/06/09/coming-soon-the-generals-handbook-2019/?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=Facebook&utm_campaign=AoS&utm_content=AoSGHpreview09June Free peoples are getting some updates but Bretonnia is not mentioned.
  14. @ilaxu 'Minute' nice! That’s a healthy amount of Knights! Command points can be used for almost anything depending on what the command ability of your general has. Check out some warscrolls online, there are several that grant re-rolls. But actually I disagree regarding the three standard ones. Battleshock immunity is essential for our low bravery army if we are confident enough to do a list without the king, charging is is literally at the core of Bretonnia so rerolling those rolls happens almost every game, and sometimes a run of 6 can be the difference between reaching an objective in time or not. It will be very interesting to follow your posts and see both your creative writing and painted up models development. The model you are thinking of is Theodoric d'Brionne. In the Old World he was the duke of Brionne, a dukedom with a black and white coat-of-arms sporting an axe in the middle. The story goes that the hero who freed the land of Brionne fought a whole battle with an orc’s axe jammed stuck into his shield. Here’s a pic of Theodoric, and I have to agree, he looks great:
  15. The store employee probably knew the rule, but over simplified it. Many armies do want to go first, so that might be how he interprets it. The actual wording of the rule is: the player who finished setting up their army first chooses who has the first turn. In a similar way, winning a roll-off doesn’t automatically grant you the first turn in following battle rounds, just the ability to choose who goes first. You always gain one command point at the start of your hero phase. See pic below with a screenshot from the Age of Sigmar app with the rules for command abilities:
  16. @ilaxu 'Minute' awesome stuff! Perfect battle report with great writing and just the right level of detail to be able to visualize the battle, but not get bored reading. Couldn’t have done it better myself. Some small feedback on your last two posts: 1. No stress what so ever, sharing painted models is always the most fun. 2. I always go for legendary fighter since the King’s sword is so good. If you feel like you are failing too many charges then consider strategic genius for using the Forward to Victory command ability. 3. I agree on your comments about your current force. The addition of the King (and the immunity to battleshock he brings), better casters and Grail Knights should cover all the tools you were lacking both in terms of offensiveness and defensiveness. I’ll end with a short word of advice: if you finish deploying first: think twice on whether or not you really want first turn. Off the top of my head, I can’t think of a single game I’ve played where I didn’t prefer to choose to go second. Anyway, looking forward to seeing more posts from you. If you keep the quality of battle reports at that level, I won’t even need to be subscribed to miniwargaming any more
  17. Oh, man! This really warms my heart. You are the third person I know of that created an account just to join our awesome community here (@Drakilian being one of the others). I extend to you the warmest of welcomes I think you are going to have a lot of fun painting this and working on your conventions. I don’t know how crafty you are and the level of your conversion game, but it would be awesome if you managed to convert your peasant bowmen into men-at-arms. A horde of objective grabbing meat shield chaff can never hurt. You could probably buy a Damsel on horseback and just pop her on one of your pegs, like you suggested, and that would be that. The last Pegasus Knight could probably be used as a Bretonnian Lord on Pegasus without any conversion needed what so ever. My suggestion for the Knights would be to use as few of them as possible to fill your mandatory battleline slots. Then, if you are able to get your hands on an Enchantress, make the rest of your horsemen into Grail Knights. Would be really cool if you were able to share some pics of your army, and even cooler if you wanted to keep us posted on your progress on getting them ready for the tabletop. May the blessings of the Lady be upon you
  18. All I’m saying is since you could be using foot soldiers as battleline, there’s no need to split your KotR into two units of 8. One unit of 16 is better. If you give them divine favor (for the horse attacks at the charge and for all attacks in the enemy’s combat phase) from he Enchantress, get the charge off, and attack before any of the Knights have died off, you would be looking at 33 attacks hitting on 2s rerolling 1s and wounding on 3s dealing 2 damage each. Plus the 32 horse attacks hitting on 3s rerolling 1s and wounding on 4s. And yes, 2x10 Grail Knights would most certainly wreak havoc Here’s a fun list a friend of mine suggested for a 1750point tournament where you were allowed to give each of your casters a spell from a realm in the end of the Malign Sorceries book: Allegiance: Order Mortal Realm: Aqshy Leaders Enchantress (160) - General: Strategic genious - Spell: Inferno blades - Artefact: Ignax's Scales Damsel (100) - Spell: Parch Enchantress (160) - Spell: Stoke Rage Battleline 16 x Men At Arms (120) 16 x Men At Arms (120) 16 x Men At Arms (120) Units 10 x Grail Knights (360) 10 x Grail Knights (360) War Machines Field Trebuchet (220) Total: 1720 / 1750 I wouldn’t play this list myself but it’s a fun and quite specialized list (everything is about blocking the enemy, shooting off any meat shield chaff, and then stomp the enemy with an epic charge).
  19. @Garz25 no worries, I’m sure you can find Bretonnians for sale in the US as well. Awesome game, my man! Was truly a joy to watch On a day when you roll like that, you don’t need the Chronomantic Cogs. But I would still like to recommend that you consider adding some of the top tier Endless Spells to your army in the future Also, props to you for being a moderator in the video’s comment section and defusing any drama stirring up there. Hello there, @Dragon10! Welcome to the Bretonnia fan club To be completely honest, I’m having kind of a hard time seeing a theme in your army. It looks a little too much of a mishmash of units to me. Are you dead set on using Greatswords? I would actually recommend that you use Freeguild Guard instead, since they are unconditional battleline. That way you will not need to worry about filling battleline slots with your Knights. To use your Bretonnian models optimally you should put the Knights of the Realm together into one unit of at least 16 models (and I personally believe more than that is impractical) so that you get the bonus for having 10 or more models. With the left over points you should be able to afford the King, who is quite valuable for his 24 inch bubble of battleshock immunity and damage output potential. If you can’t get him, then I would suggest getting even more Grail Knights. I hope at least some of my feedback can be of help - let me know your thoughts. Cheers
  20. @Drakilian awesome! Looking forward to seeing all your games. Pegasus Knights are unfortunately NOT worth it. If you are serious about starting a Bretonnian army, I can let you know that I have about 2000 points of them that I’m considering putting up for sale. I’m in Europe so if you’re American then maybe it won’t be worth it. Feel free to send me a message if you’re interested.
  21. @Drakilian my favorite comment on one of your previous miniwargaming videos went something like his: “I’m a simple man. I see a Bretonnia battle report, I click” I couldn’t agree more with that statement
  22. Cool! Thanks for bringing our attention to it. I've actually held the book myself but never bought it. If anyone else wanna read the Bretonnia reference then check out pages 88 and 89 in The Red Feast! @Bosmer Nightblade, did you discover this by chance or are you an old Bretonnia fan? Do you perhaps even have a collection?
  23. @HanzoKurosawa fantastic to hear that your army is getting battle hardened and is starting to reap some victories. Regarding the Knights of the Realm there are differing opionions. Myself, I’m one of those who see all Bretonnian battleline options as pure necessities and therefore try to spend as few points of them as possible (that’s why I always use one squad of 16 men at arms and two groups of 8 Knights Errant supported by a Damsel on Pegasus). Unfortunately I can’t seem to open the pictures you attached. Not sure what’s wrong. Anyway, hope you have more luck with your 3+ rolls in the future! @Drakilian thanks for the update. Too bad about the rage quit. I’m sure there were people with super cheeky lists at Adepticon so your opponent could probably not handle games against those either. Not suitable to go to Adepticon.. Of course you don’t owe us anything regarding reports of your wargaming, but I do appreciate it. So please take your time. That being said, you really are an amazing ambassador for Bretonnia!! A man of honor indeed.
  24. @HanzoKurosawa I’m glad to hear that our little community has attracted yet another Bretonnia fan. Welcome to the group! If you have some, it would be cool to see pics of your army. I’m also curious to hear exactly what lists you’ve been using for your first couple of games? Cheers!
  25. Bretonnia has a decent wizard in the Enchantress and the Malign Sorceries gave us some much needed new tools. Gotta say we’re doing alright! One of the guys in our AoS 2 discussion thread played his Brets at Adepticon and went 3-2, putting him in the top 45% I see the reason for switching but I honestly don’t like the Ballista. Will wait until some other faction gets a new release including war machines. It must happen eventually...
