  1. @Endless random question: do you also play Star Wars Legion? Do you call yourself Endless in that community too?
  2. Hello! Cool to hear that there’s still interest for Bretonnia in AOS 3. This would be the relevant thread to discuss all things Bretonnia. Since we haven’t been told by now to transition over to a new AOS 3 thread I’m assuming we’re just keeping this one. Good luck on your project! Feel free to post your text in its entirety here too, if you want to.
  3. A very valuable contribution! Thank you kindly for sharing this. I was particularly impressed with how you didn’t even sign the document or anything, but just made it out of good will! Although I am afraid I will not be able to try the rules out myself, I will venture to say that it would be cool if you could do something for the poor Pegasus Knight. As they lack rend and are 20 points more expensive than the Grail Knights they are unfortunately not a competitively sound option, even though they have 2 more wounds to a unit. They need to be either dropped in points, be given rend -1 or maybe get added another ability. That being said I think your concept is super cool and I especially enjoy imagining actually being able to cycle charge (just like in Total War: Warhammer) using your Regroup and Conquer warscroll battalion. Cavalry is not meant to be locked in prolonged melee combat. Cheers again and may your ideas reach GW somehow to be implemented in some blessed (by the Lady obviously) future!
  4. Dude this project sounds awesome! Would love to see some pictures as your kitbashing and painting progresses. On another note I am guessing all AOS 2 - Faction discussions (topics) will be discontinued once AOS 3 launches, so we'll have to wait and see where us Bretonnia fans will go after the summer.
  5. Bro, this is the Bretonnia thread. We’ve been neglected since 2016 so rest assured we’re immune to bitterness at this point. On a different note, happy 2021 everyone! May the new year bring lots of interesting conversion opportunities!
  6. I’d say that rather than going there (to legends) to die, it’s a way for GW to keep factions alive without upsetting hardcore competitive players. But if we consider tomb kings, they seemed destined to be confined to legends but were then reborn as the Ossiarch Bonereapers. If all else fails, the release of new Bretonnian models could open up opportunities for new conversions (I, for one, have long dreamt of making a cavalry heavy Stormcast army speckled with as many Bretonnia conversions as possible). In any case, my personal opinion is that a big part of this hobby is to always long for the next release, and to be cautiously positive. So let’s let people dream, eh?
  7. @Drakilian! Fancy seeing you here. It’s funny that you would write here today. It’s been a while and I was actually randomly scrolling through this topic yesterday. Do you plan to try taking your Brets to tournaments again once the world is back to normal? And @Greybeard86, I too would answer yes. Personally, I’ve actually sold my whole collection but the guy I sold them to seemed to have every intention of using them competitively. That being said, I think some players are transitioning over to 9th Age Fantasy Battles where Bretonnia seems to be on even ground with the other factions.
  8. I would love to hear all your tales about this after you try this out! And photos of your Ironweld army would be cool!
  9. Haha this list would have been amazing to see on the table! Do you own any Steam Tanks?
  10. Thanks for the answer! I took a look in that thread but didn’t find anyone that had gone all in Steam Tanks, but then again, you’d have to be a little bit crazy to be willing to spend money on such a lackluster unit
  11. Do we have any pictures of anyone crazy enough to make an oldschool Ironweld Arsenal army with three Steam Tanks filling the battleline role? (I don't care if it is legal or not - I still want to see it)
  12. Hello there! Fancy seeing you reviving this thread again! Since I last wrote here I've sold all my Bretonnians, which is why I've been less active. I am in isolation since more than a month back so keeping safe over here - hope you and your loved ones are doing well too! I definitely think most players will allow you to proxy your Bretonnians as Empire/Freeguild units and add them as allies. But to be completely honest with you: my biggest hope for Bretonnia to become relevant for real again, is for them to be one of the central armies once Warhammer: the Old World launches. Luckily, we followers of the Lady of the Lake have already reached expert levels of patiently waiting
  13. Hi friends! I've been very busy lately so I'm sorry for not taking part in the discussions. I do want you to know that it's been making very glad to see you all continue to make this little Bretonnian community thrive. For me, however, the journey has come to its end, and I've recently transitioned over to another miniature wargame. For this reason, the time has come for me to sell my beloved Bretonnians. Please check the eBay listing here. Furthermore, I even made a YouTube Video showing off the models. Please have a look and share this with anyone you think would be interested in buying 1940 points of Bretonnians. And if you are interested in other wargaming related subjects, please subscribe to my channel. Below you will find a list of everything I'm selling: A big army of Bretonnians. Please note that they are all painted (many of them by me as a child) and I haven't changed anything for nostalgic reasons. They are all on square bases simply painted goblin green. I am willing to either sell ONE unit separately or the whole lot for € 299. Everything in this lot is 5th edition except the ones especially marked as 6th edition. Please contact me if you wish to buy one unit separately, or the whole lot minus one specific unit that you aren't interested in. 14. A great answer! Things couldn’t be clearer. Thanks a lot!
  15. I actually think the new command abilities can prove quite useful! Now we don’t need to bring a million squishy heroes just to get the rerolls we need in order to do some damage. Just pay for the extra CP (or to strategic genius) and use the CP on the unit about to bring some pain to the enemy Looks nice! The poor enemy unit that gets sandwiched between 5 Grail Knights and 10 Blood Knights is going to get obliterated But don’t you think it could be worth it to cut down a bit on the big battleline units so you can afford 10 Grail Knights?
  16. You can indeed use mercenaries for matches play. Check what @Sir Valiant de Quenelles wrote on the previous page: (Page 46.) - One army can only hire one Mercenary Company. - If a Company is hired by your army, 1 of 4 of your units could be one of the units of the company. (In case of the Bloodknights, for instance, you can have a Knights of the Realm unit, a Men at arms unit, a bowmen unit and then you can choose 1 Vampire Lord or 1 unit (3 max) of Blood Knights). This units from the mercenary companies have the trait <Mercenary> -This units can't be included on your allegiance, and any mercenary character couldn't be the general of the army. - If you use them, ONLY in your first turn you don't get your command point. - Any unit summoned by a Mercenary unit gets the Mercenary trait. - Mercenaries are not battlelines, but they units with traits "Leader" "Behemoth" and "Artilery" counts as that for the limitations of the armies.
  17. Hahaha! It’s a well earned title I’m assuming you have insight in the system of this forum. Could you confirm that these are the ranks, or possible let me know if I’m missing one? 1. Liberator (1 dot) 2. Judicator (2 dots) 3. Prosecutor (2 dots) 4. Decimator (3 dots) 5. Retributor (3 dots) 6. Protector (3 dots) 7. Dracothian Guard (3 dots) 8. Lord Castellant (4 dots) 9. Lord Celestant (5 dots) 10. Megaboss (5 dots)
  18. @ilaxu 'Minute' haha I love your hype!! Awesome Congrats on your army getting started. I’m also lucky enough to have a significant other who likes to paint. Good luck on the future progress!
  19. I also love the visual look of Mousillon and I happen to have a screensaver on my phone reflecting this (by "Kookri" on DeviantArt, that catches that Mousillon undeath feel! http://kookriart.tumblr.com/post/165555105543/a-toast-to-your-health-one-of-my-favorite) But when it comes to themes for an army, I actually prefer to build it around the Enchantress. The 6th Edition Enchantress has some cool forest-y almost elvish features about her, and I think it would be cool to make an army hailing from Carcassonne and being allied with the elves, adding branches and leaves on the bases and elvish iconography on the models. But that’s just my two cents
  20. Thanks for the great answer! Right now I’m wondering if there aren’t any more 4 point ranks. Would make sense since the others ranks seem to have several levels. And yes, I also only saw the rank Megaboss in @Chris Tomlin’s profile.
  21. Cool insight. It’s going to be interesting to follow the discussions springing up from the changes in the GHB. To answer the question posed by @ilaxu 'Minute', however, I will actually not be running any of these mixed lists for the simple reason that I’m a die hard fan and a bit obsessive about consistency. But please note that this is my personal preference and that I have nothing against people with other views on it. Hi there! Welcome to the royal court! The King on Hippogryph and the Damsel on Pegasus are two winged units that are decent, although the King is overpriced at 400 points. There’s not much lore but as @Bosmer Nightblade pointed out, they are at least mentioned in the book The Red Feast. I guess Brets could be viable if it’s acceptable to you to consider it a success going 2-1 or 3-2 in a tournament. The only must pick units are the Enchantress (extremely good value for points wizard) and the Grail Knights which have a nice synergy with her and bring rend to an army that otherwise excels in mobility but lacks punch. Would love to see some pics of your good old goon squad if you still have any?
  22. Just returning on this subject. One of the guys at the Bretonnia thread checked out the mercenary rules and it will indeed be a challenge to include 4 or more units of mercs in your army. Here’s what he wrote: (Page 46.) - One army can only hire one Mercenary Company.
  23. Hi! Welcome to the Bretonnia fan club The only reason I don’t use the Firestorm rules is that in my local competitive scene it’s not part of any of the rules packs. We focus on Malign Sorcery stuff instead. But since I always bring the King, and use an artifact that keeps him alive rather than buffing his attacks, battleshock is actually not that much of a problem to me. Do you have any Knights painted up? I always love to see Bretonnia collections being displayed! Thanks for sharing! So I guess it will be quite hard to include 4 mercenary units in your army. Unless someone is planning to do a men-at-arms horde army (not recommended!! )
  24. Can you please confirm the rules for matched play mercenaries? How many units of your main force do you need to have for each unit of mercs you want to include?
  25. Hello everyone! I was just wondering if anyone could shed some more light on the rank system here at tga? As I understand it the ranks are as follows: 1. Liberator (1 dot) 2. Judicator (2 dots) 3. Retributor (3 dots) 4. Dracothian Guard (3 dots) 5. Lord Castellant (4 dots) 6. Lord Celestant (5 dots) 7. Megaboss (5 dots) Have I missed any of them? Does anyone know more about how these really work? Thanks!
