  1. That's actually a really good idea with the Seeker/herald conversion. In the end, you lose nothing even if they do change it. Speaking of seekers, I think they'll be much better this edition. Previously they lacked the punch to use their speed - they could get there, but they just flailed about (doing about 1 or 2 wounds usually) - but now they can block of shooting. Combined with the Masque, this means we can have a lot of control over what the opponent can do with their turn. Block off their shooting, slow down their movement, and funnel/lock in units with the seekers. I think the only issue is that Seekers are expensive so you can't use them as totally expendable chaff.
  2. That's a good point about the heralds; the only thing that stops me making a herald on licky chicken (great name btw) is that I'm worried it'll be removed in the battletome. That said, until then it sounds like a solid strategy. I agree that the Masque sounds really good, and it's even better that she has a great debuff. I wonder if we'll ever see a new model for her; I somehow think not, but she's the only named Slaanesh daemon with a model and she has some pretty cool lore (like posing as Morathi to trick the Idoneth king and cut his eye out).
  3. I've heard a lot of people say that you can't use the Khorne Everchosen battalion in Blades of Khorne anymore, but I couldn't find mention of this in the FAQs. Could someone please tell me where abouts it says you can't?
  4. This is something people may find interesting: I'm back with some more depravity points maths. I went over how much damage each hero did a turn on average, but didn't account for its points. This time I've taken a ratio (depravity points : points) and converted it to percentage so it can be more easily compared. This is flawed slightly as it assumes they die the first turn, which isn't always the case (especially for the exalted greater daemon), but it's difficult to estimate how many turns a hero would be alive for because it really depends what they're up against. I considered doing a ratio just using damage done vs points, but that misses out half of the equation for depravity points so isn't really a valid measure (it makes things like the herald on exalted chariot look much worse than it is). The higher the percentage, the more DP per point. Exalted greater daemon = 4.8%* Keeper of secrets = 5.8%* Herald of Slaanesh = 8.3% Herald of Slaanesh on Exalted Seeker Chariot = 6.9% (not charging) Daemon prince = 6.9% Chaos Lord of Slaanesh = 6% Lord of Chaos with mark of Slaanesh = 5% Lord of Chaos on Manticore = 5.6% or 6.8% when charging* Lord on Boobsnek = 5.7% Masque of Slaanesh = 8.8% I've starred the models that I'd expect to last more than a turn in combat most of the time, so note that their percentage should be higher than given, but it's difficult to calculate how much higher.
  5. It seems like Khorne has gotten it pretty bad this edition, but has it seen any meaningful improvements? I've got a mortal Khorne army that I've not taken out the cupboard for ages, and it looks like it may stay there for another edition
  6. Do you reckon we'll see any top tables, or do you think that we still lack too much in other areas to quite make it?
  7. Yeah, it would make sense that we have the same rule. I guess they'll update ours when we get a Battletome. On a related note, I'm glad that Daemonettes are sticking on 25mm bases; gives them the edge over the other daemons as, not only are they cheaper, they get double the number of models in range for an attack.
  8. Not a huge fan of the face of Firestrike's mount; I get what they're going for, but it just seems a bit off to me. Maybe it'll grow on me.
  9. Almost certain it's AoS, and the ramshackle nature of it makes me think Destruction.
  10. Some Warscrolls from the FB page. Sorry for the photo quality, but they're readable if you squint ?
  11. So, not including spells, command abilities, command traits, or artefacts and against a base 4+ save: Exalted Greater Daemon of Slaanesh: 10 (HA = 17, LA = 5) Keeper of Secrets: 6 (HA = 10, LA = 2) Herald of Slaanesh: 1 (HA = 3, LA = 0) Herald on Exalted Seeker Chariot: 3 (HA = 6, LA = 0) Daemon Prince of Slaanesh with Axe: 4 (HA = 6, LA = 0) Daemon Prince of Slaanesh with Sword: 4 (HA = 6, LA = 0) Chaos Lord of Slaanesh: 2 (HA = 4, LA = 1) Lord of Chaos with Mark of Slaanesh: 2 (HA = 5, LA = 0) Chaos Lord on Manticore with Mark of Slaanesh (with lance, but not charging): 3 (6 when charging) (HA = 9, LA = 0) (Charge HA = 13, LA = 0) Chaos Lord on Manticore with Mark of Slaanesh (with flail): 4 (HA = 9, LA = 0) Chaos Lord of Slaanesh on Boobsnek: 2 (HA = 5, LA = 0) Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount with Mark of Slaanesh: 2 (HA = 5, LA = 0) Note: this is average damage across the entire game when they are in combat; in reality it is much more swingy per turn. Also, the 0 LA that appears for many attacks should be taken with a grain of salt - when a model has many attacks, like the Manticore, it's unlikely to do 0 damage. In addition, some of these numbers variate considerably when the enemy has a base 5+ save as a -2 rend would prevent a save, whereas a -1 would not. Finally, I should note that monster damage was taken at full health. HA = High Average LA = Low Average
  12. I think the issue, at least for me, is that they've gone from overly oppressive boogie men to Saturday morning cartoon villains with almost 0 room for characterisation besides exaggeration of their god's traits. In the Realmgate War saga, Khorne suffered from this the most; for servants of the Blood God, they didn't seem all that amazing at fighting and were easily destroyed by the Stormcast. It's no fun having Chaos being an inevitable defeat for everyone else, but similarly it's not always fun being the Skeletor or Team Rocket of the setting. A bit of balance would be nice. It's been a while since I read the books, but the Realmgate War saga was one of the reasons I stopped playing Khorne - their fluff seemed so dry. With how good Malign Portents has been, I'm hoping that Chaos gets a similar treatment - a way to make them less black and white. It seems like the Darkoath may be a good way to do that, or maybe during a Slaanesh focused campaign when s/he gets released.
  13. Yeah, sorry, should have clarified this better - she's good for denying charges because they can't move fast enough to get in reasonable charge range. E.g. cavalry with 12" move and important friendly models that are 18" away: the masque turns the required 6" charge into a 12" charge because the Calvary can only move 6" so will be 12" away from the important friendly unit - sure, they can go into her, but by that point she's done her job. I like the look of the +1 to damage weapon from Hysh on the exalted keeper to make his sword do 4 damage. That said, I tend to run very alpha strike heavy lists that have little to no defence and aim to overwhelm and pick off important pieces (which depravity points really help with as it means I can reinforce later on), so this means that I don't tend to look for defensive artifacts. I really hope this happens. She's great, but a tad too pricy as she can be shot off the board before she can do anything. That said, I kind of hope they update his warscroll to be more 'exalted'; she is better than the standard KoS, but I feel that she lacks a special extra rule that the other doesn't have to make her feel more like a unique creature (afaik there are only 6 of them in the lore). I'm not sure how to properly put it into words, but he lacks the umph that a creature that could fight Sigmar should have.
  14. Yeah, the Masque isn't great for depravity points, but she's so good elsewhere that she's worth keeping - just being able to deny your opponent a crucial charge because they can't move fast enough is a good enough reason to take her.
  15. I'm quite happy with the darker angle they're going for with the Stormcast; it's good to see them struggling. They may be very powerful, but it's not a very engaging narrative without a struggle. It seems like things are going badly with their reforging, so I hope they go into this a bit more - maybe with Stormcast that come out totally shattered and destructive, in need of being put down. Either way, I quite like the darker tone they're going with in AoS at the moment.
  16. I think it should also be considered damage done by heroes; when doing a few tester games, I found that the chariot did very little damage besides from its initial charge, whereas the daemon prince could keep going with its combat. It's also why I prefer an exalted greater daemon over two keepers - it does an insane amount of damage, whereas the standard keeper is more variable with its sword so you can't guarantee you'll get the damage you'll need.
  17. I had a few test games using depravity points, both against Sylvaneth at 2000pts. My list was: Pretenders - exalted greater daemon (with devotee of torment and allure of Slaanesh, as well as a new realm of light artifact which adds 1 to the damage of its sword) - a daemon Prince of Slaanesh - a chaos sorcerer of Slaanesh - a chaos sorcerer of Slaanesh on Manticore - an exalted seeker chariot of Slaanesh - 30 daemonettes - 30 daemonettes - 1 unit of hellstriders - chromatic cogs - rolling grave tide - gemnids In the first game, I got 56 depravity points within the first 3 turns, and in the second game I got 60 in the same amount of time. It should be noted that the Sylvaneth lists pretty much entirely consisited of multi wound models besides battleline tax, so this number is likely inflated from normal. However, I'd still say it was a pretty good number and we should be able to do a lot with our newfound points. Edit: I should also note that the depravity points were the only reason I won the last game as I swarmed my objectives with summoned daemonettes.
  18. Apparently a guy called Ben (I think he may be Warhammer Community) confirmed that this was in the case of Hand of Dust, or another instant kill ability that doesn't do any wounds. Otherwise the example given in the general's handbook wouldn't make any sense as there's no way a keeper of secrets can get 5 points from 5 liberators in one combat phase without killing them. Edit: found the picture
  19. Nothing too concrete, but we're expecting Moonclan, Slaanesh, and maybe Darkoath. The first two are based on rumour engines, the last is based on harbingers.
  20. I don't think it's real, one of the artworks is from League of Legends and I doubt GW would use art that isn't their own.
  21. I wonder if we'll get two Chaos releases (Darkoath and Slaanesh) or just one.
  22. Unfortunately I don't think it's Slaanesh I'll still have hope though
  23. I don't have the photo editing skills to combine the images, but maybe the new rumour engine is the top part of a slightly older rumour? The material looks different, but the design is kind of similar.
  24. Kind of by the by, but Total Warhammer created mirror guard for Sigvald. I would love it it this was the style of the new Slaanesh release; they'd have a very unique look while still remaining true to Chaos.
  25. *Really really hoping this signals a Slaanesh release in the near future*
