  1. Don't forget Slaangor - beastmen with tentacles Oddly, I've not seen anybody put up that Kharadron are up for pre-order this weekend (Battletome, the frigate and the Arkanites)
  2. I think some of the question is that 40k and the plethora of other games GW have released has set a precedence on how to interpret true line of sight to keep it simple and easy. A lot of us have simply gone "that's how GW are expecting us to interpret it", whereas there are also a portion of people who have said that the rules state a model in a unit must be visible. I don't think it's worth a massive debate/argument as I think both sides are equally valid. From a thematic point of view, I believe that the majority of the model must be visible - banners, cloaks, weapons aren't valid targets (ask anybody who has ever done reenactment or LARP). However, most importantly it's the choice of how the players wish to interpret it - it doesn't need a house rule, just a bit of communication. The first time in a game it occurs you just need to speak to your opponent and ask "are you happy that they can see that unit?"
  3. Agree with the general consensus (and having played 40k, Necromunda etc), you should be able to see the majority of a model in order for it to be visible. As with all things AoS, I try to simplify it to a yes/no question with applied common sense. Would a shot to the end of a spear cause a wound on something - erm, nope. Would shooting the billowing cloak cause a wound on something - no to that too. Would shooting that person in the head wound them - most certainly yes! I think in AoS, applying common sense is really important for shooting. If a unit is hidden with the exception of a random sword blade then the unit isn't visible.
  4. GW confirmed that this is going to be a pure Battletome release with no new models. Quite a few new Battalions in that index and pages 76 ~ 98 are all brand new I'm curious what page 53 - Bestial Horrors is about...
  5. Just spotted this off FB too - looks like they've "optimised" some of the warscrolls to not have the picture on. Interesting that they mentioned Slaves to Darkness in the initial blurb, but no warscrolls for them. Somewhat excited! edit: Just noticed - No Bloodstorm battalion in that listing!
  6. I've not seen any tournament rule a specific size must be used, so having them on 25's shouldn't be a problem as it currently stands
  7. The latest release of Bloodletters (in the Start Collecting box) come with 32mm bases, so the consensus is to pop them on 32's - they're also a lot more stable!
  8. This is where the problem really lies though, you can resurrect slain models in a unit for free, up to the starting size of the unit, death and wanderers both include mechanics to handle this, as do daemonic icons. Skarr is technically a resurrection - it's the same model (he's a unique character so has to be), so why should he cost points? I do see where you're coming from though on the statement that a model/item is useless, though I don't think that's really what @Fr0 was saying, more that Skarr needs to drop in points to justify wanting to allocate RP's for him - bearing in mind Khorne has no other summoning abilities so to allocate 140 points on the off-chance Skarr will die, 8 models will die and then roll a 4+ to resurrect is quite steep for a Khorne player!
  9. Wouldn't have necessarily said that, I think there is a genuine confusion over some wascrolls such as Skarr. Considering it's a major part of matched play, the very small paragraph doesn't set it in stone quite as much as it ought to. A short RP FAQ would actually clear any confusion up.
  10. [ Big Link ] Gut feeling is Aelf of some kind. Not quite enough spikes for a Dark Eldar and more small wyvern than dragon (no feet)
  11. Bother, one of two dates in June I can't do Tagging @Chrisdanish and @Splitbristle in case they fancy it
  12. I'm pretty stoked for the new Khorne Battletome - it makes perfect sense and should hopefully bring people who play a pure Khorne list back into the fold. I had a game yesterday against Stormcast and they're able to do quite a few nice new things, so keeping my fingers crossed that we'll get the same treatment. I'm hoping we might get more warscroll changes than Stormcast did as I think there are more units that need clarifying or improving than the Stormcast did - hopefully we won't need to wait long to find out I think the only thing that I went "oh" on was that there are no new models - I'm not meaning new units but more the models only in the starter set such as the Khorgorath and Bloodsecrator. However GW have surprised us before and given us odd surprise releases. Fully expect to see Nurgle out in the next few months as they could also be done using existing models.
  13. Just spotted that somebody popped this on Facebook
  14. Something that has flying monkies with a aerial deployment - because who doesn't want to shout out "fly my pretties" in the middle of a game
  15. Not soon enough My guess is they'll be the big feature in the next WD - which means pre-orders no earlier than the 1st at a crude guess.
  16. Personally I quite like the new Dwarves. They're completely unique which is something GW is really trying hard to achieve, it also shows that GW is still happy to release single faction Battletomes. Yes, it would be nice to have a Duardin Battletome, but I honestly can't see that happening now - Disposed perhaps, but not an all encompassing Duardin one. I also love the way that GW have just dumped a motherlode of of releases on us and there's still lots of unhappy comments! I think the biggest shame is we've not got WarhammerTV going over the pictures on Twitch this week.
  17. It'll be a minimum of a year as they've only just started work on it and will still continue supporting Bloodbowl and Adeptus Titanicus too. I spotted yesterday that GW are advertising for an extra FW rules writer who will be working near James Hewitt. Jes Goodwin is would love to see his original design for Delaque, from what he was saying when I spoke to him last year the trenchcoated version was because one of the managers really wanted to see a gang with trenchcoats I'm keeping my fingers crossed for multipose models too - however it'll all depend upon how successful the release is. FW have a limited "plastic budget" which gets increased/reduced based on sales. Originally only the box game contents (i.e. Human and Orc teams) was going to be plastic, but because it sold well they were allowed to do Skaven and subsequently Dwarves in plastic too (there are resin alternative heads, arms etc planned for all of the teams). Adeptus Titanicus is at the "nearly finished" stage. They took a bit longer polishing the rules than anticipated so have taken the decision to wait until they have more models ready for release - the rules etc will fit into the HH black book style but using blue instead of red as the main accent colour inside. The initial plan was to release the rules with only one or two titan variants available and add new ones as time goes on, but because of the delay for the rules they felt it was worth simply waiting for a bit longer. Models will be separate to the rules to allow you to create your own custom maniple When I was speaking to the team in February the impression I got was they didn't expect anything to get released in the first half of the year. Bloodbowl has been much more popular than expected too and Specialist Games are a really small team currently.
  18. Necromunda is the next game being done by Specialist Games
  19. Reckon we could do a park bench
  20. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a nice piece of terrain rather than new Realm of Battle Boards.
  21. Personally it'd be better to have some units with a "Dogs of War" ability, that allows them to add the allegiance keyword at setup. Possibly with certain restrictions - so some units might not ever fight with Chaos etc. Would be much more controllable and not overbalance the game - the DoW ability could state they're not affected by buffs for example. This would also be done outside of the GHb so wouldn't complicate the ruleset.
  22. Not sure the mask is AoS - it seems very similar to the artwork done for quite a for 30k/40k: Ordo Sinister; Sisters of Silence; etc
  23. Think it was WarhammerTV. The live stream didn't start until December, other than a couple of games on the old channel (which they've kept so they can stream two events at once).
