  1. Event Title: Gobbocon - 1200 points Matched Play Event Author: someone2040 Calendar: Events Australia Event Date: 03/19/2017 08:45 AM to 03/19/2017 05:30 PM Hi all, After a successful year of Age of Sigmar at Southern Wargamers in 2016 (Including a gaming league I ran in the first half of the year), we're now coming up to our first organised Matched Play event. We're kicking things off a bit smaller with 1200 points Matched Play Event (Vanguard Battle rules). To add to the fun, you'll be able to take a special item only gobbos can dream of! The players pack is available online at the following link. Gobbocon - 1200 points Matched Play
  2. There is more information in the Grand Alliance books on each mini faction. Not a huge amount, but they do put the faction into a place in the world. However, it is the kind've fluff that should be on each sub-factions landing page for each sub-faction on the website. The problem is, the current website is really just a webstore and everything is just filters on what products the user should see. So while you can select Order Serpentis on the store, you could also click Order Draconis as well and then what info should it be showing. Personally I think GW should invest in an actual 'Age of Sigmar' website in a similar fashion to what they're doing with some of their boxed games. This website can give a brief history up until now, details on the goals and agendas of ALL of factions in the game, and of course, links to where to buy the models from the online store.
  3. In some ways, I really wish AoS was a bit more like 40k. Those lists don't sound so bad at 1000 points. It's enough of the same to still be interesting. But as soon as you start looking at 2000 points, none of those sub-factions look particularly enticing without drafting in some reinforcements from somewhere else. But as soon as you do, you lose your allegiance battleline (So those reinforcements now have to be standard grand alliance battleline). If you could build little mini-armies within the points limit, it'd be a lot nicer on building thematic grand alliance or allied forces style lists. That being said, 40k is riddled with abuse from what I've heard. So maybe a softer touch is you can claim an allegiance to a particular faction if more than 50% of the army share the keyword.
  4. Phoenix Temple wouldn't happen because the Annointed model is a finecast, and all the start collecting boxes only have plastic models. For the same reason, the Wanderers box would include the Nomad Prince rather than a Spellweaver (or others) due to the fact that model is plastic while the others are finecast. The infantry heavy factions are a consequence of splitting the factions I suppose, and not much to be done there. I don't know if this will stop them from getting Start Collecting boxes in the future (As I think GW is unlikely to expand Dispossessed or Darkling Covens in the near future). I'd like to see start collectings for them anyway, but it starts falling into the same issue with the Fyreslayers. There are so few different boxes that you'd be better off buying the Start Collecting sets rather than the individual boxes.
  5. Well, putting aside whether or not they're broken I think it's good these pieces of scenery are coming back. A lot of the newer terrain GW made in 8th edition should really fit right into AoS. All 4 Storm of Magic pieces, Dreadstone Blight, Witchfate Tor, etc.
  6. Well, for people who have incomplete sets of older models it makes sense that they'd want to pick up some of that older stuff. And who knows, scales might not change that much, models may not actually look better to some people or maybe they'll only make new models for certain factions. For example, new Bloodbowl certainly isn't going to have new sculpts for every single team from the getgo. I'd love to pick up some old Mordheim and Warmaster stuff just to round out some of my sets with missing pieces without having to pay ludicrous prices (Ever tried to chase down a Sisters of Sigmar Auger?).
  7. I don't think Bloodbowl will be influenced by AoS. There's a large existing player base for Bloodbowl that probably won't be too happy to see new fangled AoS stuff make it into the Bloodbowl universe (Which is firmly set in a variant of the Old World). I certainly wouldn't want to see Stormcast involved, but would be quite happy to see some themed teams from AoS make it in in a more natural fit (Sylvaneth being one that could potentially do that). In other news. Some new stuff on "Made to Order" showed up on my GW's facebook page today. It seems these are along the lines of limited print runs of the older stuff. Looks like they will be made available for some short period of time for people to order and then shipped out all over the world. So the Imperial Guard stuff for example, might be available for a week. Once it's over, it's over, they're not available anymore and they start making the miniatures to send out to people who ordered them. It's not a bad way to do things as they can justify getting out the mould and casting the miniatures without having to do it for one person who randomly wants OOP Calgar on the toilet. Will be interesting to see how it goes, and whether anything interesting is made available. I'd be really keen to see Specialist Games models being made available in this way as well (Although, permanently through Forgeworld would also be nice!).
  8. Poor Dreadfleet. Ignored as a boxed game. I suppose it doesn't fit into AoS now and never really sold well.
  9. I think it's still disappointing, no matter how good the Unforged model actually is. GW for years now have been making exclusive White Dwarf models. Maybe they've been burnt a bit with sales on him? Who knows. Just I would've expected something a bit more unique than a repackaged model. Maybe it's a clue that the Unforged won't stick around in the Dispossessed line (He is a bit of a stranger in an army full of metal clad dwarves, but doesn't quite fit into the Fyreslayer aesthetic either).
  10. Actually, custom keywords look to have been implemented a while ago according to his changelog. It seems they're persisted locally, just not up to a central database at the moment. The one thing I was going to suggest is maybe figuring out if there's a nice spot to put unit points. It is easy (and nice enough) to just stick it in the warscroll title though so it's a really trivial thing.
  11. I wonder if the Season of War stuff will really make it into the narrative any time soon. We know GW has a big lead time on producing things, so unless the results really were pre-determined, I don't think they'd be able to incorporate those results into any of next few books released for AoS. My thoughts are perhaps we'll see war in the other realms taking place in the narrative while the 'season of war rages' in Ghyran. Good time to see what's going on in Shadow and Light while giving GW time to incorporate the results of the Season of War into the future.
  12. Really cool stuff. Considering transferring my Dogs of War warscrolls I created a while back to this format, as they look a lot prettier than the ones I created in a Googledocs document Also might consider printing out warscrolls as the app has been a bit finicky at times. Given I have a couple of monsters, eager to see when the wounds chart is implemented. Keep up the good work mate
  13. So on the Warhammer : Age of Sigmar facebook page they posted that 4 of their employees are going to do a Tale of Gamers style thing. In the description for one of the pictures, there's this tidbit This I guess means that in GW points, there's going to be some distinction between different types of units. I'm really hoping this is something along the lines of objective secured in 40k, rather than full blown force org or core-tax style list building. One of the things I've greatly enjoyed in AoS is not having to build up a million boring models, hell, it was a drag to get off my ass and paint my second batch of 10 Chaos Warriors.
