  1. Yeah but worth considering that the pendulum can reach places melee cannot. (Say if you need to get at a hag behind a ton of witches) Also, pendulums seem to scare opponents a lot. Just having one in a list can completely change how the opponent deploys/moves.
  2. Ha, interesting, I didn't even consider that it was optional hahaha. I do agree lots of CP is critical. (also a big knock against the Pretenders host) So it more comes down to more CP vs more mobility. I will have to test both. I think I still lead towards the mobility though as more speed offers more opportunities to win tactically whereas more CP is just more bulldozing power which may turn out to be more powerful but it is less fun. I think the Fane is a nice bonus but not game-changing. It is obviously a "must take" because it is a free bonus but it also isn't going to be game changing either. I think anyone who hates it's only grounds is they wanted more power out of a free terrain piece. Re-rolls in our army is super powerful though and that wound is so easy to heal back and free DP is never a bad thing. All that said, I HATE the big daemon head. I wish it was just the Slaanesh symbol.
  3. Exactly, my plan being Thermal Rider on one and Ignax on the other.
  4. I've been theorizing a similar build while running a second Keeker in my Godseeker list with Ignax Scales and the Slothfull spell to be a tank. I really am starting to feel Godseekers is going to be the host of choice even though most of their item options sort of suck. Pretenders will be too easy to just snipe down the super Keeper I think and having a situation where Keepers can't support each other for Invaders feels like too much of a downside. Also getting +3 charge after being summoned for units is just so tasty.
  5. This is the list I have been toying with: Godseekers Keeper of Secrets - 360 - General - Thermal Rider Cloak, Speed Chaser, Progeny of Damnation Bladebringer on Exalted Chariot - 220pts - Hysterical Frenzy, Enrapturing Circlet Epitome - 200pts - Born of Damnation Infernal Enrapturess - 140pts - Cameo of the Dark Prince 30x Daemonettes - 300pts 30x Daemonettes - 300pts 10x Daemonttes - 110pts Revelers Battalion - 180pts Sybarites Battalion - 120pts Cogs - 60pts Total: 1990pts - The concept is that since I have +3 to charge, I can summon and charge immediately super often. - Generates a decent amount of DP and plenty of self-healing allows for even more. - Thermal-Rider cloak is critical vs Sylvaneth, against other armies if I don't need the mobility I will just use the terrain piece to convert it to re-rolls. - Double Battalion makes it a 2 drop army. Thoughts?
  6. Personally, I don't really see the value fo Depraved Drove unless you are taking more stuff. Ungors are great at 60pts per 10 but given that you are taking the minimum of everything it is much less of a "deal" when you factor in the 150pts for the battalion. Consider it this way, you are paying 430 for your depraved drove. It contains 30 Ungor and a Shaman. For the 450pts you could buy a herald + 30 Daemonettes. The latter is simply better than the former for similar pts. Where Depraved Drove becomes insanely good is when you start spamming ungor or bestigor or both so you can really maximize the value of the triple hit on 6s. Imo a better option would be to drop one keeper to take 30 Bestigore and 10 more Ungor. This puts you in a situation where you have this mega fast and powerful hammer unit. that has the numbers to hold objectives for you. I'd even consider figuring out how to drop the enrapturess to fit in a Shaggoth as for 180pts he is a depravity machine given that he has multiple self heal effects.
  7. Yeah, I agree, all the base size switching has driven me nuts over the years since the loss of WHFB. I was really worried Nettes would go to 32s but after rebasing every single fantasy model I owned, then rebasing many of them again when the official base sizes came out coupled with rebasing 15 years of space marine collection I am def getting salty about bases.
  8. Yeah, can't ever depend on rules always staying good. Look at the poor exalted keeper, went from an awesome choice to a "never" take. I have solid $5-10,000 in models that I've collected over the years that currently just have "bad" rules or are compendium. But the model is still usable. Its not like they pulled it from the game.
  9. They just consolidated. The model is still perfectly legal as a "Chaos Lord on Daemonic Mount" that has Mark of Slaanesh. It just doesn't have a unique warscroll anymore.
  10. Interesting, though I don't think 30 Gors are better than an Ungor blob. The 2" range and smaller base is really good when its a lower cost per wound. Also since Syll'Esske doesn't have to use the CP unless you need it, most turns it won't be used so I think it can work well. Holy within is an issue for sure, but a 36" diameter circle is pretty huge coverage.
  11. You know, point for point, ungors are actually pretty nasty too in Slaanesh. Take unit with spears. 200pts buys you 40wounds worth of models that have 2" range and a 25mm base. Which means in most cases all 40 get to attack. Hitting on 5+ isn't great but re-rolling 1s and 2s means lots of opportunity to re-roll into 6s. On average that is going to force ~18 saves. Pretty damn good for a measly 200pts and 5pts per wound with a 5+ save in close combat is really nice. Think about this army: Depraved Drove - 150pts Keeper of Secrets - 360pts Shaggoth - 180pts Great Bray Shaman - 100pts Syll'Eske - 200pts 40x Ungors - 200pts 40x Ungors - 200pts 40x Ungors - 200pts 40x Ungors - 200pts 40x Ungors - 200pts Total: 1990pts. Good luck killing all that considering they are all immune to battleshock. Army is only 3 drops too.
  12. Interesting. On top of that Shoggoths are actually also really efficient for their points cost and bring a nice chunk of DP generating wounds along with self healing.
  13. This is true, though, in my experience, by the time you make enough dp to summon something, summon that something, have it generate more dp, whatever you will be summoning with that dp will be too late in the game to make a big difference.
  14. The main challenge I've always had with any bravery debuff combo is as soon as you run into bravery 10 it almost never works.
  15. Yup, though GW is in an awkward position where what is best for the game is to limit Sylvaneth to a single terrain piece like everyone but also the outrage from Sylaneth players will be huge if all of a sudden their $500+ in trees they were forced to buy are mostly useless. Be interesting to see how GW proceeds.
  16. Oh hey, that makes it simple thanks! Yeah that battalion is going to hit like a truck.
  17. Well, its very expensive to go one drop, but yeah its an option. The tree player will also be a one drop though so its only a 50/50 chance and we pay a way bigger tax to do it. Side note in the battalion, if you roll that 6 in a big unit of nettes is it: - 1 MW (attack sequence ends so you don't get the bonus hits) or - 1 MW + 2 Normal Hits (MW is just for the main hits but the bonus hits still happen) or - 3 MW (The MW copies itself 3 times) Not sure how it interacts with their exploding 6s hit rolls.
  18. I agree I dread every Sylvaneth game no matter what army I play and every single list I make I have to ask the question for every single unit: "Can this be completely mitigated by tree spam" and the answer is "yes" far too often.
  19. hahah in my group that would never happen. Every decision is about what makes most tactical sense. Narrative is never even a consideration.
  20. I guarantee opponents will almost always just take the d3 mw against shalaxi. I sorta of assumed that ability effectively is just a d3 mw shooting attack. Makes no sense to accept and get obliterated. And doesnt frenzy require LoS? (tho my local sylv player spams small units of dryads so on avg frenzy is worth ~1.5 dp)
  21. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to go up against Sylvaneth with the new Slaanesh? Most of our power lies in monsters on bases too large to fit between trees. We have no flying and we can't really reasonably 1 drop at 2k. Thus all a Slyvaneth has to do is take first turn, flood the board with trees and we are effectively stuck in our own deployment zone. I'm not sure daemonette spam will work but its the only thing we have that can really get through those damn trees and be effective.
  22. You are correct. I suspect this is by design. Otherwise, the Invaders ability wouldn't be worth much.
  23. My thoughts are: Lore of Slaanesh - Pretty lackluster, minimal utility, just a bunch of ways of doing a few mortal wounds and a really low power healing spell. Forbidden Sorceries - Game breaking powerful. That said, difficulties are high so spells are unreliable. Pain and Pleasure - Mediocre but potential very good.
  24. I think it sort of makes sense, the new Keeper model is bigger. It should be stronger. The fact that they gave the FW the same pts cost though is the weird part. That could be a typo though.
