  1. There are so many variables when it comes to considering dust. Do you live in a rural or urban environment? On a low or high floor? Will the units be placed in a high-traffic area? (lots of people coming and going) are there smokers in the home and what kind of room will the cabinets be in? Is it carpeted, air-conned, heated, etc? Actual proper dustproof display cabinets with rubber seals (seen in retail, museums etc) Cost thousands (Think £5000+ for a similar amount of shelving space as the KALLAX) and IMO are complete overkill for Warhammer figures. (If you have a nice Rolex collection or are displaying literal Golden Demon quality figs then they may be worth it) You also generally don't want to have the cabinets in direct sunlight or to be in a room that experiences extreme temperatures. I generally give the inserts a light dusting once every 6/8 weeks (but could easily leave them much longer) A can of air (Or just use an air compressor) to quickly spray the models and give the shelf itself a quick wipe down. Takes about 2/3 mins per insert. Maybe an hour or two of cleaning every couple of months total.
  2. The Kallax shelves are sturdy, easy to assemble and offer a lot of flexibility. Not sure about Euros but the Glass shelf inserts are only £22 each. So a row of 4 = £88. I have 3 rows = £264 + £115 for the Shelving Unit itself =£379. What I like about it was that I originally bought the Shelving Unit, 4 Glass Shelf inserts and some Fabric Storage Drawers (Only £3 each) then bought subsequent Shelving inserts as and when I needed/wanted more room. So I didn't need to pay the full amount up front. The 4x4 KALLAX Unit is one of the bigger ones as well. You can get a 2x4 Unit KALLAX 2x4 (£65) With x4 Glass Sheld Inserts and 4 Fabric drawers all for a total of £165 (I guess around 200 Euros) There is also the BLALIDEN Unit BLALIDEN Glass Cabinet for £80, but it removes the flexibility afforded by the KALLAX Units and is nowhere near as sturdy. I'm an Interior Designer by trade and have done an ungodly amount of research into different furniture options over the years. If anyone knows where I could get a custom-made piece of furniture that offers a similar range of options at a similar quality please let me know. For something custom with a similar amount of shelving space and fitted glass I was quoted a minimum of £2000+
  3. I assume you mean for University/ College? Remember that ALL content in extortionate textbooks is available FOR FREE online (and I don't mean piracy) Check Project Gutenberg, ProjectStax and Library Genesis. Also, if you are interested in any specific papers email the author directly and they will invariably send it to you for free (as the actual authors don't get a cut from academic textbooks)
  4. 100% the best bang for your buck is the KALLAX shelving units from Ikea. They come in a range of different sizes (and colours/finishes) IKEA - KALLAX Shelving Unit You can then also buy a KALLAX glass shelf insert with a glass door for each of the shelves in the unit. IKEA - KALLAX Glass shelf insert and glass door. I have the (4x4) KALLAX shelving units with Glass inserts and doors with KALLAX DRAWER INSERTS running along the bottom line for additional storage. With some LED light strips they look great. Table Top Tactics uses them (in black) to display their models in their new studio which can be seen in the background of their battle report vids. Table Top Tactics - Nighthaunt v Indoneth Deepkin Battle report In terms of easy availability in the UK, value for money, versatility and flexibility they are the best around (by far) unless you are willing to spend a lot of money. One to avoid is this one from Argos. ARGOS Glass Cabinet It is so cheap looking (and feeling) the glass is as thin as paper.
  5. I am not American and I wasn't talking about America. Anyways...
  6. I mean the creation of wealth that brings health, education and quality of life to Billions of people, the capitalism that brings millions out of poverty every year. The device you used to type that, the game this very forum is about, and the luxury of living a life that allows you to turn around to the hundreds of millions of people still unfortunately in dire poverty and say they should stay there to make you feel better about "saving the planet" (whilst benefitting from the very things you are advocating depriving others of) Do your arms hurt from pulling up the ladder behind you? Anyways... enough of that.
  7. As others have mentioned I would love to see AoS V4 introduce an ability to "Build your own hero". AoS should still have the "Tool" characters with their own specific Warscrolls and gear (with a few options) but a "Build-a-bear" Hero option with the ability to create your own would be very fun (and cool)
  8. Huh? Brand loyalty is responsible for the rise of some of the biggest corps on the planet. With those resources, companies are able to invest in R+D which results in products significantly better than if they were a fraction of the size. Brand Loyalty is incredibly important for both companies and their customers. (It should never be taken for granted though) Do you even capitalisim?
  9. Sure! Combat Patrol is where you buy a Combat Patrol box (Similar to the AoS Vanguard Box) and it is a force ready to play out of the box (With each faction having a Combat Patrol Box roughly balanced against each of the other faction boxes) The models in them have their own slightly simpler and tweaked Datasheets (Warscolls) different from the Datasheets used in Matched play. The idea is that you can buy a Combat Patrol Box, Download the Combat Patrol Datasheets for free for the models in the box, and you can play against any other Combat Patrol Box in a roughly balanced battle. No other purchase is necessary. It's a really great way to get people into the hobby IMO. Do you like the look of a different faction? All you need to do is buy a single box, Download free rules and you are good to go to play against any other Combat Patrol. The games take roughly an hour, there is no list building (as the list is the contents of the box) and all the rules are free to download. Great for new players, and for those who want a simpler, shorter, pick-up game of roughly balanced forces. (At a smaller and simpler scale)
  10. I own every single AoS V3 Battletome so far. (Cities and FEC will be the last two which will complete this edition's collection). I love having a "library", I like the feel and touch of physical books, the art, the way in which they are laid out, the stories and the cozy immersive feeling I get when I sit down in an evening to look through them. I buy, build and collect models under the four Grand Alliance banners. Order, Chaos, Destruction and Death. (If I like a model I buy it) my painting desk currently has a Stormcast Vindicator Squad, a Slaves to Darkness Warrior Squad, a Sauras Warrior Squad and some KruelBoyz Gutrippaz. I like chopping and changing between factions, models and styles. The last factor that I consider when making a purchase from GW is "What are the rules like?" That consideration only comes when I am putting together a Matched play army for pick-up games or compiling lists for tournaments. You can already do this! It is called Narrative play! I understand that there are different types of folk. I just don't relate to the idea that some people need not only to be led to water but have it cupped and forced down their throat as well. Why can you not already do this? Why do you need GW to spell something out in order to do it? The only people that matter are you and the people you play with. This is an important point as if your only gaming outlet is pick-up games with people you do not know, there has to be some restrictions and a balancing aspect for those encounters. I think that GW should (and probably will) have 3 distinct "ways to play" going forward. Vanguard (Buy & Play) Matched (Points & Play) and Narrative (Story & Play). I think it will be really interesting to see the new 10th Edition SpaceMarine and Tyranid Codex, I think they might give some insight into how Battletomes for AoS V4 will be approached. I hope that we will see a similar launch for AoS V4 as we did with 40k 10th, with all Battlescrolls available for free online (and through the app) at launch. With physical Card decks available for all factions for those who want a physical copy. With Vanguard being the AoS Version of Combat Patrol, It would be nice to see Grand Alliance rules under the Narrative Play banner allowing for cool and thematic combinations without worrying too much about great balance like in Vanguard or Matched Play.
  11. This little snippet may have some exciting implications. Yes.... yes! Skaven blimps!
  12. Oh for sure. They would be realm representatives, I was just thinking in terms of cities as it could be an interesting narrative direction for WARCRY to go in. (A large gladiatorial-style tournament, with various cities from across the realms sending their representatives to duke it out in huge colosseums!) I would really like for the actual cities to get expanded upon. Where 40k's scale deals with planets and systems which is great for Sci-Fi. AoS dealing with cities and continents is great for fantasy IMO.
  13. I'd love to see WARCRY warbands representing different cities from each of the realms. Hammerhal AQSHA/GHYRA, a Lethis Morrda cult, a Duardin heavy band from the Chamonite city of Vindicarum, Hunters with Ogre support from Excelis in Ghur, an elf-heavy group from Settlers Gain and a band of duplicitous cut-throats from Misthaven.
  14. How are they useless? Unless you are in a tiny percentage of tournaments you can use GW models in the game forever. Conversions and proxies are fine. I use 20+ year old models "no longer supported by GW" in games of 10th edition 40k no problem. So how are they useless? Also. who says you only have to play the current version of any game? There is a thriving 2nd edition community and others that play every edition of 40k. I just don't understand how a model not having an exact current stat sheet of conceptual rules makes a physical model "useless" it just does not compute with me. Nor my lived experience.
  15. But they don't have 5 years of life. Most of these models are over a decade old already!
  16. Models don't turn to dust and disappear when rules change or are removed. Rules and game relevance come and go, models are for life.
  17. For most people, this is the type of timescale used for houses, not plastic miniatures that are already a decade old. Talk about unrealistic expectations. 😅
  18. Well, I for one am very happy to see the removal of many ToW miniatures from the CoS range. I think GW has done a great job at providing support for older miniatures (8 years of direct support for Old World ranges in AoS! and at least another couple of years for Dark Elf models and likely even more for Dwarfs! Just how long do people want ranges to sit stagnant?) and even then it is likely we will see many of them return for ToW. (Where they belong!) Seeing the Dark Elves being primed for exile from the Cities is good news, as it shows that Malerion and the realms of Ulgu are on the horizon. Whether they are combined with DoK to create one large "Children Of Khaine" Faction or come as their own book, we will have to wait and see (I'd personally like to see a large combined Children of Khaine Faction) The Dark Elf range in Cities has never sat that well with me. Aesthetically, practically and in regard to lore they have never been a good fit IMO. I do hope we will see some actual proper Elven Cities kits once the Dark Elf kits are removed. With the human aspect of the Cities beautifully fleshed out and supported with this release, there are some really exciting creative avenues available to explore with Elves (and Dwarfs although I fear it will be some time before City Stunties are explored) I just cannot relate to some of the comments on the site regarding the removal of these kits. "Oh, I really wanted them! I haven't bothered to buy any of them over the last 15 years! but now there is likely a further 2 MORE years of support I'm sad." huh?
  19. There is also the fact that it is highly likely that we will see AoS 4.0 in less than a year's time. With the hype machine beginning in earnest in only 9/10 months from now. I could easily see a few new kits accompanying a CoS 4 Battletome in late 2024 or 2025. They have to leave something for a decent update to the faction in the next edition.
  20. Shame to see GW's hand forced due to NDA breaks. It is what it is I suppose. As for the models. I absolutely adore them. Pontifex Zenestra looks amazing. I'm a big fan of palanquins, I think they match the Grimdark Fantasy of Warhammer brilliantly. The Skeletal mirror is such a cool concept. The canon is great (I'll take 3 please!) The command core is fantastic and I would love to see the Arch-Knight aesthetic carried over into a fully fledge unit. The Whisperblade is just plain cool. Top tier work from Gdubs.
  21. I know this is a joke, but this totally 40k to me. The plucky escape, heroism, and fighting against the odds, only to escape into the arms of the waiting imperium, who are even worse!
  22. Whilst I agree that it would be a shame for Sigmar and the Cities to just become Imperium 2.0. I do feel that over-the-top Grimdark is quintessentially "WARHAMMER" regardless if it's Fantasy or Sci-Fi. I love the fact that GamesWorkshop's roots are the grim 80s of post-industrial Northern England. The Warhammer vibe has always been for things to be so ludicrously awful that they become funny, which is so typical of British humor. Whilst it is inevitable for Gameworkshop to inject a little more light and hope into its settings (to appeal more to an American audience, who are hugely more optimistic than the Brits) I hope they stay true to their roots and Age Of Sigmar is able to forge it's own dark path.
  23. There is a big difference between rumors and leaks. Even the biggest rumor-mongers understand this. Regardless, it doesn't really matter. I just gave my opinion about what I think is decent compared to what is not. It is clear some agree and some do not. If people are using justifications of "GamesWorkshop doesn't pay people enough IMO so they deserve everything and anything that happens to them (which is also not true, GW pays above average and pays out thousands in bonuses to its staff). There isn't much point.
  24. It's not just about "my enjoyment" it is respect for the dozens (if not more) designers, writers, sculptors and painters who have worked on the project. Again. I am not thinking about it in this way at all. "spoilers" for anything can easily be avoided. It is the designers that I feel for. Let the company follow its plan (then perhaps criticise that plan) I couldn't disagree more. What is pro-consumer - GW entering into good faith NDA agreements with content creators in order for them to have early access to figures they can paint up and record batreps/reviews/tutorials with so that consumers have quality information regarding upcoming releases. You welcome the breaking of good faith NDAs that fly in the face of planned release schedules? I don't. I think that is a pretty low thing to do TBH. I'd never break an NDA that I voluntarily entered into in order to have access to free product. As I know that in doing so, I would not only jeopardise my ability to maintain a healthy relationship with a company but could also potentially jeapordise other people's livelihoods. There is an entire sub-economy based around content creation for GW products.
  25. I find it rather strange that there are people confused by the concept of not liking potato-cam pics from people breaking NDAs. I know that GW is a large company but some seem to forget that it is a company made up of people. Dozens of artists, sculptors, painters and designers will have worked on a project like this for weeks, months, or even years. As a designer myself I would be incredibly disappointed to see a product that I and others had poured their heart and soul into be leaked online by someone breaking an NDA. The stuff is coming. I understand people are excited and want to see more, but patience is a virtue and being confused by someone wanting to see the reveals how the designers and company had originally planned is... well, confusing.
