  1. I'm of the feeling there isn't alot of space for more battletomes (I've made my ideas clear on scrapping battletomes!) There likely will be Malerion Umbraneth faction, but other than that I don't see any definates. If they ramp up the expansion to factions outside of battletomes, which to their credit they've done well with recently and is getting better that way in AOS and 40k, then I don't mind the battletome cycle. 2 Warcry boxes and a another underworld band and you've got a mini new faction in Kurnothi. Replacement spider riders in a Warcry box and done. And these are alongside much needed second waves and we're in a good place.
  2. After seeing this I went to lexicanum to find out more! Unfortunately there's a giant advert for meg 2 covering up the info so I didn't learn much 🤣 I saw they've divided them into Kurnothi Aelf, Kurnothi humans are mentioned as are Fawn and Centaurs! I didn't know it was a cult I assumed a new race! Are we getting a Kurnothi warcry warband?
  3. I think this all points to a release of cities dwarves and Aelves one day. There's 15 dark elf warscrolls! I would of preferred a bit more of a mixture of elves that's really milybonly gripe. The artwork doesn't show Aelves and dwarves with the new stuff but there's loads of studio model photos that do
  4. We wanted updated humans and they've nailed it but...we also want the cosmopolitan feel of cities to remain. Elves and Dwarfs are intrigal to my love of the cities, I'm sure lots would agree. GW we still want elves and dwarves fighting and living beside our humans! And no allying with KO or LRL doesn't cut it the same way !
  5. I think GW took the sensible approach. As a community we've wishlisted some of the most extravagant and esoteric things over the years for when they redo humans but they've gone for a very grounded force but also some magic sprinkled in. I think they've nailed it! I'm surprised at no greatsword replacement and I think I would of preferred they kept the wanderers models rather than the monopose dark elf ones (privateers, beastmasters, chariot, cold one knights, sorceress are great still) but this has been a very good release. I'm still hoping for more artillery and something cog related! Also something that goes with order of azyr or devoted is clearly missing. Hopefully one day! I'm not starting a new army but with the wildcorps boxes I've got a really good looking warband starting now. 2 boxes to go with the van densts, Jelson Darrock and the Hexbanes hunters I've got I'm not far from a small game force now!
  6. I actually agree this time with this. The lack of a model preview away from Horus heresy had me specualting we'd have a big reveal this week.
  7. This is true but I honestly think this will be like realm lords where there is a second smaller wave incoming soon. How difficult must it of been for them not to do 30 units! I bet the designers mouths were watering at the prospect of a new human faction🤣 . There must have been some sensible person reigning it in a bit!
  8. I think not having a greatsword unit in line with Emelda braskov is an odd choice to omit
  9. Uh oh. Whitefang gave me a confused reaction! Hopefully it was to the idea of a split battletome rather than a wave 2!
  10. I too expected from this release at least a cathedral and greatsword equivalents! I'm astounded by this release though it's amazing and looks great. I do feel however they'll take the place of stormcast as the poster faction. I expect a second wave like Lumineth in the not two distant future. This will cover the cathedral, new priests and devotees, witch hunters etc. And possibly the third phase will be the cogfort, and more artillery. I think this base to an new army may be the best they've ever started a faction with. Could easily see two battletomes in the future. The crusade battletome and the traditional City guard one.
  11. Was there leaks today or something is that why we've had a post?
  12. I also would of never suggested this before TOW was announced. I love this concept! But it can now live forever in the old world I just think Beasts in AoS need a bit more in my opinion of course. When I suggested that gors remain, maybe they could be a mixed unit? Easy enough to do from one kit. You choose the make up of Ungor gor and bestigor in each unit. Not much more than a head and weapon swap.
  13. Oh yes meant scrap the kits! They're horrid! Not the warscrolls though. I think a mixed unit of packmasters, ogors , swarms and giant rats would be really cool!
  14. Ork human farms are all fine but where is the story of the plucky escape! Rag tag bunch of slaves rebel and blow up the ork production before their daring escape. Being 40k though they'd get picked up by an interrogator and all be made into corpse starch on a hive world
  15. Having a stab shank at Skaven today. Looking at what models in my opinion need moving faction, replacing, moving to TOW etc. Give it the proper dream AoS range refresh. I did toy with whether pestilens should be moved to maggotkin but they're such an intrinsic part I think they should also have some units in maggotkin as well but will get to that later. The four great clans work so well in AoS but I think we need a huge release to do them justice. Looking at the range there's so much variety there they dont need too much new stuff but so much resin and metal and some just odd looking models! Skyre New model = Arch warlock ( love this model but needs plastic) Warlock engineers ( multi part kit that could represent more than one warscroll, warlock ?? Warlock ?? Etc) doomflayer (new plastic kit) acolytes ( I love these, I remember the first time I saw a poison wind globadier? In a gw store I remember thinking what the hell is that! Love it!) Plastic weapons team (easy one kit to cover all the 2 man teams including jezzails and the long gone mortar!) Keep = warlock bombadier (looks great and new) warp lightning cannon (great kit) doomwheel (looks good, plastic) stormfiends (great models) Keep 4 kits retire 8 new 5. Thimk the range is excellent other than a couple new warlock types Skyre have all bases covered! Moulder New model = master moulder (new leader needed and also needs a giant mount like the brood horror, foot and mounted options) giant rats (with pack master) rat ogors ( new sculpts would look great) wolf rat cavalry ( lancers on fw style wolf rats) new character (maybe with rat ogor body guards) Keep = hell pit abomination (still works, cool idea) Scrap = packmaster, ogors, giant rats (I like the thought of a mixed unit but time to go) Keep 1 kit retire 2 new 5 . Probably more design space here then I can think of. I like the thought of packmasters moving around with mixes of giant rats, ogors and rat swarms. Maybe an abomination shaped like a catapult!? Inflated ogor balloons dropping giant balls of something disgusting! I don't know! But I'm sure there's some good ideas out there. Eshin New =gutter runners and night runners(eww new plastic kits needed! The aesthetic of the claw pack but not sure how to differentiate the two? Maybe gutter runners are like the claw pack in appearance and the nightrunners the more toned down version) Keep = deathmaster (brand new) skittershanks claw pack ( new, Warcry and underworlds to stay, they are a great way of adding to factions) Keep 2 replace 2. The latest Eshin models have been superb but there's not to much too them as a faction. Maybe a bodyguard unit with double handed weapons or some cloaked ranged units firing rifles or crossbows. Pestilens Keep = plague furnace, plague claw (good models) plague monks (still a fine kit) New = plague preist ( new plastic model) censor bearers ( how they look on the new underworlds band!) Keep 3 replace 2. How they managed a battletome with these kits I'll never know! I would go with a plague boss as the leader and new plague priests fitting in like the leaders of the death guard. All manner of crazy things. Maybe even a plague master for all of the known plagues? Can't think how to expand to much though! Masterclan/Verminus/rest Keep = clawlord, verminlords, thanquol, grey seer New = I never realised before but the stormvermin and clanrats are good kits! Lots of variety in faces etc but stormvermin are especially monopose. GW like to redo the core of the faction so I could see at least one of these down. Rat swarm also the cursed city ones are great. Overall Skaven have so much variety and along with Seraphon I've always considered them to be the most unique factions not really found anywhere else! There isn't alot really to add on terms of new warscrolls etc with most just being a range refresh to plastic. If you were thinking of how to differentiate the clans or bring them all together I'd love to hear what you'd all do! What new models would there be and how do you see them fitting into AoS?
  16. Hi all hoping to start some lively debate away from the rumours thread. This will be the first in a series where I'll put my opinion across of all the factions models and available warscrolls and where I believe their future lies in AoS. Feel free to disagree and share your own opinions! Obviously some factions will have more changes than others. Ive decided to think whether the units/kits should be dropped, moved to TOW, move to different faction, keep but new model and just plain keep (reasoning in brackets) . Also I'll finish off with new units! Leaders Keep = Beastlord, Grashrak Fellhoof, Great bray shaman. (All plastic, all look great, representing Beasts from the Chaos realm) Move to Tzeentch Arcanites = Tzaangor Shaman (no mono god models) Move to TOW = Doombull ( ugly!) New model = Shaggoth (love this model! but plastic and bigger, beast of azyr, could be dual kit with character) Battleline New model = gors ( could do with an update, chaos realm) Move to TOW = ungors, spawn (classics but no place in my beasts vision!) Behemoth Keep = Ghorgon, Cygor ( still a good looking model and fits well in AoS, chaos realm) Move to TOW = chaos gargant ( love this kit but time to go), chimera and jabberslythe (decent kits but could do better) Other Keep = warhounds, grashraks despoilers new kit = dragon ogor (azyr) tuskgor chariot (chaos) Move to other factions = fiendblood, enlightened, enlightened on disks, skyfires,Tzaangors ( no mono gods again!) Move to TOW = spawn, bestigors, bullgors, cockatrice, razorgors, ungor raiders, centigors. ( Some good some bad better served as TOW or reimagened) Battletome release So we had 30 warscrolls on the app (not including terrain and endless spells) . I've kept 7 warscrolls and updated 4 for 11 warscrolls. First new model Morghur! Great big new centrepiece model. He's also the basis for the beasts becoming prominent in the setting again. Another nemesis to Ariel as well and now a minor chaos god. He comes back and twists mortals and children of chaos alike, able to corrupt in all realms and draw energy from all realms to corrupt. As I've retired so many units I've tried to reimagine what I'd like to see in a Beasts of Chaos factions and above all I'd like to see the magic in the realms playing their part on the creation of new children. The monogod gors will be in their respective battletomes with new pestigors and Khornegors too. The tried and tested gors etc will represent children of the chaos realm. Ulgugors, Hyshgors etc from the different realms properly fitting their particular realm and having that AoS turn it up a notch we all love. Maybe spawn could be twisted from the realm of life, metal minotaurs from Chamon, a razorgor type beast from ghur, angelic centigors from hysh! Would see another 10-12 units from the different realms really encapsulating their corruption in that realm. I can visualise what some of these may look like but possibilities are endless! These are my thoughts anyway what about yours!? Obviously as the title suggest this is very wishlisty but I think beasts can play a part in the mortal realms with a bit of an AoS styling.
  17. Maybe we should start using the other threads on this site
  18. It's been a tad frustrating. It should of been a big reveal event similar to the Tyranid and the upcoming space marine one. Some lore would be nice to know some details, I know we'll get a good understanding from the harbingers books which are tied to this release. Some info on the different cities and what their crossed are doing would be good. Either way I'm buying the battletome but it's a shame warcom hasnt championed this release a little more
  19. Lots of people see this as a bad thing but it does a good job of easing you into it especially with new to Baird game people. The difficulty Ramps up more from level 2 and get progressively more difficult. I found myself doing as many scavenge missions as I could for realmstone as some of the weapons and armour are needed in later levels. Nightwars is very difficult! The game gets harder as you get better
  20. I'm annoyed at their surprise if they are. We all wanted brand new humans to coexist in the cities and take their place in the lore. We needed the grounded human as a baseline to the wierd and whacky and the dawnbringer crusade's are a great idea! However the first Cities battletome received overwhelmingly positive feedback and it's been such a unique twist having these mixed race cities in AoS and a for me a big selling point of the setting. Why on earth wouldn't they know we want the dwarves and Aelves to be represented still! It's been fascinating to know how all the different factions fit into these cities. I still hope for wanderers lore when through they've left the cities.
  21. Why do new releases have to be tied to an army book? They could just as easily update with narrative events like this Harbingers release. Instead of releasing seraphon on its own , have it released leading into a narrative event. Why carry any book around to play a game in this day and age? just digitise the rules and update. The books could easily have faction sections, I find it hard to believe new starters wouldn't understand. Tying their model releases to an army book makes them hamstrung. They've already moved slightly away by having Warcry and to a lesser extent underworlds warbands adding units to factions . I think we'll see more of that
  22. I think Fimir won't make it but we did have the Fomoroid crusher originally from Warcry which seems to be the spiritual successor. Then again we started with the ogroid thaumaturge and not have three varieties so who knows! I like the thought of them as destruction but how would they differentiate from ogors?
