  1. Thanks! A few more pics from the day:
  2. Finished the tourney 2-1 with a tight victory against Blades of Khorne and a brutal loss against Maggotkin. Blight Kings are ******.
  3. This army goes to war! Everything is painted by my target date of today. Three game one day tournament with a 20-2 victory in round one.
  4. At first I really didn't want to overdo the blood but once I started putting it on models, it's such a great contrast colour to my base colours that I figured I'd just go with it. After all, if there was ever an army you could coat with the stuff, FEC is it!
  5. Work ongoing on the spells and throne!
  6. Painting up the Varghulfs, Throne and Endless Spells this weekend hopefully. The 2K list is almost finished, even though I still have 4 Dragons and 80+ Ghouls to build and paint 😅
  7. A little more sculpting to try and blend the wings and body, and I did some building up on one base since a wanted to do something with a hand position: Also find a good base for my second Archregent since I wanted them to be discernably different on the tabletop: It's a curved wall section from the Fortified Manor set. I considered cutting it down to make it look like more of a broken wall section but I sort if like it this way. Also finished assembling my Charnel Throne and all three FEC spells since all three will be in my list. Priming this all tomorrow and I have a game Friday to test out the list.
  8. Sure! It's almost strictly Vallejo Model/Game Air paints and GW washes applied with an airbrush. Prime black, all-over basecoat in Wolf Grey, then do a 65 degree zenithal highlight in Off-white followed by an 85 degree zenithal highlight in Dead White. Apply a coat of Athonian Camoshade thinned 50/50 with airbrush thinner with the airbrush. The brown sections are just an airbrush blended application of Mahogany with a touch of black. The rest is brushwork. Bone sections and claws are picked out with Bonewhite then washed with Carronbourg Crimson. Brown sections on the body only are washed with Reikland Fleshshade. Eyes and mouths get a wash of Nuln oil. Metallics are done in Brazen Bronze with a light highlight of Brassy Brass. Varnish and then go to town with Blood for the Blood God.
  9. Thanks, going to do a little more sculpting on the upper arms to blend the styles a bit better. Should be painting then this weekend.
  10. Needs some extra sculpting and filling but these went on pretty well!
  11. Next up, two varghulfs. FW Flesh Wolves plus cut down hive tyrant wings. Pins in place just letting that glue dry then I'll trim the pins, mix up some epoxy and get modeling. I'm not very good with epoxy modeling so this one has me a bit nervous.
  12. Final steps done on the flayers. Varnished, foliage, blood painted and splattered.
  13. Calling these guys done. Last steps, varnish, blood and foliage.
  14. Lots of gluing tonight. Touch up paint, varnish, foliage and then blood. These guys are almost done.
  15. I did a much better pass when I actually did the wings. I was just doing quick snaps with my phone before. I had the higher contest if the lighter shot. Here they are drying:
  16. So I think I'll do a fade from the green to Brien at the edges of the wing, and along the arm from the elbow. Rough first pass: With a flayer model: Thoughts?
  17. Based, zenithal highlights, airbrush glazed wings times 42. My painting area is covered in hunks of styrofoam with wings jabbed into them. Just need to figure out if/where/how much brown to apply...
  18. I have so many wings to paint... Got these all primed tonight, these are going to take a while...
  19. Just to add, I'm pretty happy with how my Kill Team turned out too. I've finally figured out that I *like* painting!
  20. Basecoat, zenithal highlights, glaze and the contrast highlights are done on this batch: Here is a closeup of the Flayer bodies. I've lightened the contrast quite a bit so the wash will give better depth, but these haven't been washed yet: On the Infernals, I did the wings with the contrast brown on the vanes, and then mottled the webbing. Not sure if I will keep this for the large wings or reverse it, and just mottle with wings and leave the vanes in the green tone. Might have to paint one of each and see which looks better: The mounting points for the wings have been covered in poster tack, and the wings are being cleaned and mounted for painting now. I prefer plastic glue so hopefully this will allow a good bond after painting.
  21. Primed them last night. I'll do the basecoat and the glaze tonight. Need to decide on the blue or green though. I don't think I can mix on the big models since I'm painting the wings separately and the chances of ****** up and mis-matching wings/bodies is too high.
  22. So I'm opting for something a little more unusual for my initial 2K list. No dragons! As such, here is the next painting block: This will eventually become three units of six Crypt Flayers, and two Crypt Infernal Courtiers. Wings will be painted separately and glued on after. Just finished this assembly tonight, priming tomorrow night!
  23. Cross posting from the army list thread since it seems to be a lot quieter than this one I'm planning for an upcoming semi-casual one day tournament and I've been thinking about running something that's a bit of a curveball. No dragons. I think this could work since it's fast enough and full of flyers that I can basically pick my targets. Board control is an issue so the barricade will hopefully help with that. Each Archregent will summon a Varghulf for more high speed killing and some resilience for the Flayers: Allegiance: Flesh-Eater Courts: Blisterskin Abhorrant Archregent: Eye of Hysh, General, Hellish Orator Abhorrant Archregent Crypt Infernal Courtier: The Flayed Pennant Battalion: Deadwatch Crypt Infernal Courtier 6 Crypt Flayers 6 Crypt Flayers 6 Crypt Flayers Charnel Throne Endless Spell: Cadaverous Barricade Endless Spell: Corpsemare Stampede 3 Command Points
