  1. The premium rewards were sets from armies from each 4 grand alliance. The Death stuff being FEC.
  2. There’s a job opening on the Warhammer jobs site at the moment for a digital illustrator that seems to imply that the Old World game is part of the Forge World/Specialist Games umbrella.
  3. I still disagree that it’s laziness. I’d rather they redid the Marauders too, but I don’t think the option was ‘new marauders or Warcry stuff’. If we hadn’t got the Warcry models in StD, we still wouldn’t have got new marauders (it’s not like the Warcry stuff took the resources for this release as, like you say, they were designed for a different game). And for a choice between 8 new units that fit the army, or nothing, I know which I’d rather, regardless of where the models were originally designed for.
  4. Disagree. It makes sense for them to be in the army. I don’t see how it’s laziness tbh, they still had to design and make 8 new kits and the rules for them. It’s not like there’d have been 8 new units for StD otherwise, they only have so many resources.
  5. Not quite. They said these aren’t replacing anything, that doesn’t mean there won’t be new multiparty versions at a later date.
  6. A mould is expensive to cut regardless of if they’re easy to build or not. It’s not like the monopose/e2b sprues are any less complex or busy than the normal ones, the models are just cut up a different way. I might even argue easy build models specifically might be more difficult to design, as you have to cut the models in a way that allows the pins to hold them together.
  7. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised. They do like their limited releases.
  8. It’s coming. ‘There’s far too much content to cover here, so keep an eye out this week for when we cover it in more detail.‘
  9. I think I was trying to cut through an Infinity base, which are slotta bases but the slot has a thin bit of plastic in it that’s generally easy to get through. There was a batch that was thicker than usual though. I was trying to get the blade through and it slipped and buried itself in my thumb through the nail. It was incredibly painful. It was also at an angle, so when my nail grew out there was a big diagonal catch through it for a while which didn’t help either. Similar to your story, my uncle does model railway, and once dropped a new scalpel in his lap, gashing his inner thigh pretty close to his femoral artery. My mum had to look after my cousin while he went to hospital. My brother did a similar thing on his finger with my grandads model knife (he also does model railway). My grandad got a lock on his hobby room after that. I think we might just be a clumsy family...
  10. Must be quite the callus considering I once managed to put an exacto blade through my thumbnail.
  11. Yeah. Preorder preview on the 1st, preorder on the 7th and release on the 14th (which is what the leaked schedule said).
  12. This isn’t true unfortunately. I don’t really know how they could have done it better with Stormcast for instance (releasing female models alongside males where it makes sense to etc) and there’s still complaints about ‘forced diversity’ and such, whatever that even means (it’s all forced, at the end of the day, it’s made up).
  13. Really don’t get this argument. The majority of gamers don’t care is precisely right. But some do care about being represented, so why not represent them? No one else cares, as you just said, and it barely scratches the representation of white men anyway.
  14. On the flip side, as GW produce more of those minis, people who are interested but put off by their lack of representation until now might start playing. And if representation doesn’t matter, then it won’t matter to us white males if we get less, right? So what’s the downside? (Royal Us there, seeing as I don’t want to assume your gender or race).
  15. So... you haven’t read the thread then? Just because it’s been predominantly a male hobby in the past, doesn’t mean it should stay that way. If you don’t like it changing, go find a new one where you will be happy.
  16. I don’t think men in fantasy have to be sexy either. I’d rather both had a mix.
  17. None of that means representation and diversity aren’t good things though. Just it hasn’t been done well in those cases.
  18. So, I’m left handed. That’s about the only thing about me that makes me any kind of ‘minority’ whatsoever. Whenever I see a left handed model, it makes me strangely happy. I can only imagine how good it must be for actual minority and marginalised groups to see themselves represented in places where they haven’t been before. That’s how I personally understand the importance of representation, and it’s such a small thing in my case. It’s hard to see why representation is important I think when you are of the group that is consistently represented, but it is important.
  19. It’s been handled about as naturally as it can be. Where female versions of something are possible and appropriate (Stormcast, nothing has ever said otherwise and there’s no reason why women can’t be made into Stormcast), some of the models they release for them have been women. That’s all. There’s no ‘quota’, and I really don’t know how they would do it so that you didn’t see it as there being one. It’s not even the majority are female, as pointed out. As for the ‘boys and their toys’ rubbish, it’s a anyone who enjoys the hobby and their toys space. As it should be.
  20. One woman that you know of doesn’t want ugly models. She doesn’t speak for all women, or all people. The Raging Heroes stuff is available, if that’s what she prefers, and I think the uproar from the people who missed out on the sisters box on Saturday proves that they haven’t missed the mark there. They aren’t even ugly, they’re just practical, have scars from battle, practical hair, relatively appropriate armour etc. Exactly what you would expect from a fighting force.
  21. It’s literally just the same as the male equivalent, but a woman. It’s not a trope. There’s no ‘badass male’ trope trotted out whenever a male character is released. Women are as badass as men are.
  22. Maybe Magic is the game for you then. I can’t really see how 12-16 man tournaments are any more lucrative than 6-8 man tournaments.
  23. What community would you have gone for then? Because I get the feeling that even half an AoS group is probably going to be bigger than most other fantasy game groups.
