My current idea for Settlers based cities. Enjoying what LRL has to offer while throwing up some Griffins to pin as much of the enemy in place. The rest of the list tries to cap objectives and go pew pew ... not sure on spell make up and which battalions to add. Very high drop count so Battle Regiment maybe?

  2. Thinking about the following. Really not sure about the grand strategy … or the exact battalion arrangements.

Really looking forward for trying to port the mire brute into someone’s face and hopefully getting flaming weapons off. (Or shackles lol) = Massive distraction.

The rest of the list builds itself in typical kruleboyz fashion. Currently I’m not sold on guyrippaz just yet …. I will be trying a unit of 20 eventually. For now Im interested in trying trolls. A block of felwater as a more durable bully unit that can actually grind vs gutrippaz. They can hold an objective while bolt boyz go pew pew.

woth the possibility of going full troll with 3 mire brutes a real possibility.

  3. I’ve been really considering a unit of 6 Fellwater to ally in (possibly rock) just so I can have a unit to push forward and take’n hold objectives. Not sure which set is better at it honestly but fellwater fit the theme more better. Maybe even a gate breaker?

Otherwise in pure kruleboyz all u really have is the sludgeraker, maybe a killaboss on gnashtooth or mire brute. Gutrippaz and Hobgrots sure as hell arnt going to hold a point. Your boltboyz are already going to be a high priority target and too busy shooting. Castle tactics based on boltboyz honestly seem like a trap to me. Only looking to run 2 units of 6 at most myself.

can you really rely on low drop plus casino dice / magic to pen an opponent in their territory? That’s 3 sludgerakers? Plus a shaman or 2. At least sneaky miasma is only a 6 to cast.

  4. Was looking for an active Maggotkin Discord server but haven't been able to find anything so I decided to create my own and wanted to share it with everyone.

  5. So I'm not a huge fan of the current Freeguild aesthetic. Much preferring Elves and Dwarves.

As my collection expands and I want to try new builds with 3.0 I've been looking at some of the Human options. My current idea is to go the 40k Admech route to cover most of the options. Yet I'm not sure what to do about the Griffon and Demigryphs.

So I was hoping for a little help on ideas. I'm open to conversions but nothing ridiculous or prohibitively expensive. Current thoughts are just putting Dwarves or Elves on them and calling it good but id like to do something with a little more wow.

Appreciate any thoughts/advice. I'm open to other game systems / 3D prints. BUT I don't want to sacrifice quality to a point where they stand out like a sore thumb vs GW.

    Many thanks.

  6. @Leemer Yeah that's a problem I keep running into as I try to set up power pairs / synergies.

Shackles would another great choice and id rather have it but it puts me 5 points over. As is. I honestly threw in Lifeswarm just because it fit points wise and to have it as an option incase my Ironbreakers get into trouble and the battlemage's movement spell wouldn't be as important later on if I position correctly early game.

I cant do a direct trade on irondrakes as they are 160 vs the Ironbreakers 115. And without Bridge or other reliable movement shenanigan's plus no buff cart ... I just dunno. I feel like i would want more support to make the Irondrakes shine.

Sisters of the watch are even more at 180 and I would want to include a nomad prince to help their output. Not as necessary though. I could do Shadow Warriors but again at 120 points I'm 10 over and need to shuffle some other areas.

Honestly I want to use some Demigryph Knights but I just don't have the models currently. I could do Drakespawn Knights ...

BUT that messes with my Battleline durability and will make my grand strategy more of a liability ...

Here is the list I am currently looking to run at a local 1 day tournament. Would appreciate any input / ideas on how to improve it. As far as options go I've got pretty much all Elf and Dwarf options but minimal human options when it comes to available models.

    Many thanks and greatly appreciated.

  8. What's your thoughts/verdict on Mighty Skullcrushers?

I know coherency causes issues but running 3 units of 3 as solid mobile anvils seems pretty legit to me.  170 points gets you 15 wounds on a 3+ save. Decent output ... still a fan of ensorcelled axes even in 3.0, makes rolling the dice easier lol.

  9. I ended up playing a Vyrkos Soulblight army in Tectonic Interference.

Long story short I won purely bc of my opponent took the outflank bait. Knight Azyros and 2 Concusors on one flank, Dreadlord Dragon on the other. It allowed my Ironbreakers to control the center and my left most objective for the first 3 turns. Gotrek was a beast but ended up only killing a unit of 20 skeletons and a corpse cart. Largely to being so slow. He was still a powerful flex, deterring anything too scary going that way.

The limitations on command points meant I could only "Melt Away" reliably with one unit: the concussors, used them to get a cheeky charge on Granny Bella and put pressure on early. I felt that their damage output was sub par but could've been my rolling. With all out defense they were a very solid anvil that took a lot to remove ... spells,, Radukar the beast, 10 wolves over 2 turns ....

Rules Question? If a Mortal caused from Blast to ashes gets shunted to another unit (Dire wolves in this case) does it still count towards the ability so that they cannon pile in?

The dragon caused my opponent to send his VLoZD that way, damn he hits hard, I could not roll a 5+ ward to save my life. Regardless, it kept the VLoZD out of the fight long enough for my dwarfs to get way up on points.

All in all I wasn't too impressed by the dreadlord dragon, I'm thinking that the Anointed on Frost Phoenix with wizard book would work better. That and if I'm going to outflank with something in addition to the concussors,  I believe a ranged option would be better. Maybe Kurnoth Hunters with bows or sisters of the watch? Irondrakes are another option but I feel like the opponent can just walk away from them after their initial volley, their short little legs never catching up.

Gotrek was the only real hammer, maybe some actual hammerers would be a good option? +Runelord for that sweet -2 rend. the can still all out defense or mystic shield to a 3+ save. add in Ironoak skin and possible 6+ ward prayer they can still hold a point.

Regardless very happy with the dwarf side of cities atm ... I think next time i will try some Tempest Eye and a few KO coalition.

Im not 100% sure if gotrek is a leader or not so the Knight Azyros may go into the warlord battalion and then one of the other dwarfs would go in the Regiment. The GHB leaks don't label him as a leader so Im just making sure I’ve got everything covered.

Dragon will hidden path on one flank, Concussors and Knight Azyros get the other. Rest of the army pushes up the middle. Bomber has the movement to take the center (battle tactic) in case I go first.

If everything goes well it should create 3 fronts for my opponent to deal with and allow me to control the board with my slower moving dwarfs.

Anyhow this is the list I’ve settled on for tonight. Will report back with how it goes.

  11. Yeah I was looking at that. And I’m also looking to change the kitties to Concussors. Could then drop a gyro to fit in a Knight Azyros that would outflank with the drakes and free the dragon to hit the other flank. Force the fight on 3 fronts….

looking at the GHB leaks Gotrek isn’t marked as a leader … so not 100% sure if he fits in the battle regiment, this would solve that paradox.

I have my first game of AoS 3 coming up this weekend and am looking to give my cities army a go. Mix it up and try out some new things. I've got mostly Dwarves and Dark Elves to choose from model wise, with supporting Stormcast, KO, and DoK options.

I will outflank with the evocators and dragon while the dwarves hold the line. Gyros can capture the center and be very annoying providing covering fire for one and other. I made the runelord the genera (over the dragon) so I don't miss out on the bonus command points. The Runelord also gets more benefit form honored retinue protection and his prayers / spells lol / dispells IMO are more valuable overall.
Gotrek is bonkers now and I want to give him a go. Warden King got the book bc why not? lol, casting dwarves ... That means he can use Lore of Leaves for his spell too?

Lifeswarm and 3+ Ironbreakers should hold the line, especially with Ironoak Skin -1 to wounds.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. I haven't played cities in forever and want to play around with the new rules, any other ideas? pointers? massive holes im missing?

My opponent favors destruction armies if that helps, not 100% sure what he will bring though.

    Appreciate any/all insight, many thanks.

  13. Thoughts on Plague Monks with 3.0 and reinforcements under Nurgle allegiance?

previously they could be run in hordes of 40 and buffed up with Glottkin and Blades … Now that they will be capped at 20 under Nurgle with the new reinforcement rules do you think they are worth running?

  14. @Boar Thank you for reminding me about the Bloodwrack Shrine, Yeah, I will replace one of the Hydras with the Shrine.

    Morathi - V Spray
    Sorceress - The Withering
    Sorceress - Sap Strength
    Medusa - Shadow Daggers?

Should I leave the Banner on the Sorceress to protect the "portal bunker" or put in on the more durable shrine that's advancing?

6 casts and unbinds seems like it'll be able to get some work done in the magic dominance present out there. Those dreadspears aren't long for this world

    Total: 2000 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 122

My current idea for classic Dark Elf feels. Torn on prayer vs spell Command Trait. Leaning towards prayer as I've got the 3 casters.

Spells = Vitriolic Spray x2 and the Withering

Drakespawn Knights and Hydras run up and put pressure and take points with Big Morathi. Follow up with black guard as a second wave where needed. Try and keep little Morathi and spell portal shenanigans going as long as possible with the 20 darkshards. Spears for stabbing / speed bump.

    Thoughts?
