  1. I swear I remember Whitefang kind of pointing people towards Dwarf soup, but it's possible I misread his portents.
  2. I don't think so, at least not yet. If Grombrindal comes back, and the Dwarfs still aren't souped... then I think we can lay them to rest. The rumors led me to believe he was the lynchpin. Also, I'm not sure if Elf soup was ever a rumor or if it was just speculation based on Dwarf soup. Regardless, the threat/dream (depending on your viewpoint) of soup remains imo
  3. God of Light Tyrion is definitely poster-boy material 😆
  4. That's enough non elf talk... back to the the mysterious Whip Elf lady, I was actually surprised she was an elf. The whip style (which we saw in a Rumor Engine) is much closer to Skaven than anything else. It doesn't match the sisters of slaughter, the old dark elves, or any of the dark eldar. I'm defintiely leaning towards an AoS setting though, it's too plain for 40k. Due to the style being different from Sisters of Slaughter, I think it's Malerion's. I'd bet on Underworlds due to the rumor about them. I'm extremely biased in my thinking though, there's nothing in AoS I want more. It could be clouding my judgement
  5. I would bet she is for the Shadow Elf Underworlds Warband... mostly because that's the only semi-proven/reliable rumor we've seen showing new Dark Elves soon
  6. I think manipulating people and stealing their prayers in order to attain godhood for yourself and setting off a chain of events which weakens Slaanesh's prison is worse than calling someone a name, but I can see that it's pretty subjective.
  7. I agree. I've been waiting for Malerion to play AoS. I played Dark Elves and Chaos Dwarfs in WHFB. My Dark Elves got converted to Kings of War. I sold my Chaos Dwarfs for a lot of money after a couple of AoS games. Whenever Malerion comes out, I'll finally buy into AoS. DoK were tempting, but I never liked Morathi. Especially how she was stealing Khaine's prayers. Aint right. I'm waiting for my King
  8. I was really hoping it'd be like ASOIAF (or GW's own War of the Ring). I'm also not a big fan of all the different sized unit trays I ended up with in WHFB. I don't think the depth was worth the hassle. So a couple of standard sized unit trays with circles would have been ideal. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like a chunk of the newer AoS ranges could fit in with the Old World. Like others have said, half of the Lumineth/Vampires could easily be updated WHFB minis.
  9. Idoneth Deepkin should have been Fishmen and a destruction army. I see people complain about too many Elves and I see people wish for more destruction armies. They are the elf faction no one asked for. Instead of elves on flying sharks, I want Sharkmen monsters.
  10. I'll stick to games with free rules. A Song of Ice and Fire, Star Wars Legion, and Marvel Crisis Protocol have been treating me well. WHU is probably my only GW game going forward.
  11. No I didn't, I just have no idea where they'd fit in 😅
  12. I'm a future elf player (waiting for Malerion) and I agree. Malerion and Morathi together, Tyrion and Teclis together, and Alarielle and Orion together. It just makes sense. But I come from WHFB, so my perspective is skewed. I'm pro soup for all armies. Less books to buy and more options for the players. Seems easier for GW to manage in the future also
  13. 😆 Playing the long game. I bet his video gets more attention now also haha
  14. There's other games that use Fantasy minis. When GW killed WHFB, I switched to Kings of War.... which I actually liked more. My Dark Elf army grew. I got a lot of Dark Elves from ebay. Probably from people that decided it was better to sell their army worth hundreds of dollars than burn it.
  15. Exactly what I was hoping for. ASOIAF is my current favorite game. I was hoping for standardized movement trays that minis could fit in. WHFB was my main game for 20ish years, and I don't miss making various sizes of trays for my minis.
  16. As an old WHFB player, I think combining subfactions into tomes is a soup-er idea! In the other thread, people were complaining about Dwarfs being combined and then pretending all subfactions of elves will have their own tome. I think that's extremely unlikely. I think the Dwarf alliance is bound to happen. But I also think Morathi and Malerion will combine. Tyrion and Teclis will be the same. Arielle and Orion will be the same. Not sure where Idoneth fit in, maybe with M&M? Also, maybe Chaos Dwarfs will come back in some form. That would make the score 3 to 2 in favor of the elves. Which is roughly equal to the height difference. Seems fair. Who knows what the future holds (other than Whitefang, of course). I see the combining of subfactions as a way to open up options and require less books. Both positive outcomes in my mind.
  17. Kragnos only does 3 wounds to Morathi, he doesn't seem too bad
  18. This is the issue, well, more precisely, there is a paper shortage. I know because it severely messed up the timing for CMON's A Song of Ice and Fire game (https://asoiaf.cmon.com/news/a-song-of-ice-and-fire-2021-digital-updates). They are trying to do a big update with new cards and it got pushed back. They looked into getting in printed in other countries but it kept falling through or was too expensive. I imagine GW was doing the same for Cursed City. I believe GW intended to do another print, but now they aren't sure if/when it will happen.
  19. This is why I only play factions I enjoy from a model/background perspective. I'll try my best to win with the stuff I like. I first started playing in tournaments in 6th edition with Dark Elves. They were really bad. I tried everything, amassed a huge Dark Elf army in the process. I was usually towards the bottom of tournaments and my friends constantly beat me. However, I was becoming a very good general. I was learning the game on hard mode.... and then the 7th and 8th edition Dark Elf books happened and I was rewarded for my dedication. GW is too expensive for me to buy an army based on the rules. Rules change, but minis are forever. If you like Slaanesh that much, and think their sculpts are gorgeous (I agree!), then I think you should absolutely start them. Play them on hard mode now and enjoy the pain. You know Slaanesh wants you to. Whenever the rules change, you'll dunk on everyone and you can brag about how you played them before they were cool... like I've been doing for 20ish years with Dark Elves 😆
  20. I hope so! Be'Lakor was shown shortly after his short story. Hopefully they are the first tome other than the starter set armies
  21. Maybe Gaunt's Ghosts are the destruction half. The crossover is finally happening
  22. I'm loyal to my king. If Malerion is in the faction, I'll be happy. It's not like I'm sitting around, I'm playing games, just not AoS. Also, I agree with those who think Malerion and Morathi could be on the same faction, to mirror Teclis/Tyrion and maybe Arielle/Orion. It's just funny because much like the post I quoted... I'd be more interested in the Malerion/Tyrion/Orion half! But if I knew for sure that Morathi and Malerion would both be part of the rumored/faked Umbraneth, then I'd start DoK this week! I know GW likes to keep people in the dark to build hype for things, and it probably works for them. It doesn't work for me though, I'll go back to waiting in the shadows. Always watching.... maybe I'll buy that warcry warband though..
  23. For real. I've been waiting to dive into AoS for Malerion. I keep thinking they will be "soon". I keep being wrong. Unfortunately, AoS is a little to expensive for me to dive into an army for fun. I'm going to keep waiting for the one I really want. I have $900 of hobby money saved up. I fear blowing it on Hedonites now and then Malerion coming out later in the year. Slaanesh is really tempting though.. stupid sexy Slaanesh.
  24. It's a consequence of GW releasing minis after the Battletomes came out with Lumineth and Hedonites. There's always going to be that doubt now.
