  1. At the moment it's an open field.  Anyone who writes something we can post it up.  Once we have established a routine I will start to look for themes and specifics.

A good place to start is TGA itself.  If you are already part of some great discussions on here then maybe look at summarising them .  Highlight a forum thread and why it is worth an extra look.  The faction threads are good for this.

Same applies to the painting area.  Maybe a top 5 painting blogs

If you have a great idea you would like to write an article about then just let me know and send it in.

    thanks!

  2. Happy New Year everyone.

Here at TGA we have an article section that, other than a few initial posts, has lay dormant for the last 2 years.

In 2019 I am looking to bring articles back to the site and it would be great if our members had a chance to post their thoughts.

This is a great opportunity to run alongside each of the forum areas and complement the amazing conversations that are going on all over the site.

If you are interested in writing an article just let me know in the comments and I will be in touch.

    Thanks,
    Ben

  3. I will feed this all back into @Ben Johnson and the FAQ team at GW.

    _____

    Bull Centaur Renders 90 x 52mm
    Bull Centaur Taur’ruk 90 x 52mm
    Daemonsmiths pack - 25mm

Warhammer World Deamonsmith complete with resin base 32mm
Deathshrieker Rocket Launcher 105 x 70mm - Not seen one of these on a 105.  Mine are on 120 and look ok
    Drazhoath the Ashen 120 x 92mm
    Dreadquake Mortar 170 x 105mm - 120 is WAY too small.
Infernal Guard Battle Standard Bearer 25mm - I have a pack of these in my hand and they are packaged with 25mm rounds.
    Infernal Guard Castellan 25mm
    Infernal Guard Fireglaives 25mm
    Infernal Guard Ironsworn 25mm
    Iron Daemon War Engine 120 x 92mm
    K’Daai Fireborn 50mm

Magma Cannon 105 x 70mm - I use 120 on my magmas and it fills the base. Not sure a 105 is a good idea here?
    Shar’tor the Executioner 105 x 70mm
Skullcracker War Engine 170 x 105mm  - The 120 is WAY too small.

I'd get rid of the dragon for second iron daemon an swap a unit of fire glavesforbsb,

The Dragon replaced the Iron Deamon!  I put him in for a change of list.  I think it has some legs as an extra combat unit for relatively cheap points.  Not as good as the Skullcracker, but fly is nice.

  5. I played last night.  The list was really fun but I think it needs a little something else.  Probably some more bodies as I was using the fireglaives for that role.

    Drazhoath The Ashen
    Daemonsmith
    Bull Centaur Taur'ruk

    Grotesque
    Bull Centaur Taur'ruk
    Gryph-feather Charm

    10 x Infernal Guard Fireglaives
    10 x Infernal Guard Fireglaives
    10 x Infernal Guard Fireglaives
    10 x Infernal Guard Fireglaives
    3 x K'Daai Fireborn
    Warpfire Dragon
    Magma Cannon
    Magma Cannon
    Skullcracker War Engine

    2000pts

The Warpfire Dragon is probably the unit that I can swap out.  I Its a nice unit but didn't really do much.  I felt the army as a whole struggled with lack of retools so i'm considering a BSB in there too Its tough to fit it all in.  Maybe swap the dragon for more fireglaives?  I'm not sure at the moment.

Another thing is that all my infantry is on 32mm bases.  I feel that I could swap them to 25mm and get a bit more mileage from them.

  6. Is anyone playing any lists with 200 Ungor?

I've started writing some twists and it seems to be a solid option.  200 points for 40.  5 units.  Might seem spammy but it would be quick and easy to push them around the table.

The other 1000 points would need to do the heavy lifting but sheer weight of numbers should be hard to deal with.

Has anyone played a full horde???

  7. Hi,

    Praise Hashut!

    Welcome to the Legion.

The rules for wounds/damage/allocating are pretty clear.  Its all in the core book.  page 232.

You make an attack.  Roll Hit, Roll Wounds, Roll any armour saves,  Work out the damage and THEN allocate wounds.

Both the Blackshard Armour and the Hellshard Amulet now step in and negate those wounds.

E.g. If you did 2x D3 damage you would roll the damage, then roll that many saves on your Hellshard amulet.

Remember though, Mortal Wounds are treated differently. an ability has to specify that it negates mortal wounds for it to work against them .

    Hope this helps!

  8. I thought I would add some TO's commentary on why I selected this rules pack.

The Masters should be the toughest event of the year to win.  There are no easy games at the masters and I wanted to the rules pack to reflect that,

I wanted a pack that would incorporate the hardest parts of the game to master, while also giving the players the most amount of information to prepare for the event.

I chose to run from a single realm as this would remove any complications around some of the more powerful realm rules and spells.

To balance this out I made sure that we would be playing a range of the trickier battle plans.  Players have full knowledge of what they will be playing and can plan for this, but they also now need to bring a list that is flexible enough to win the likes of Relocation Orb and Star Strike, Places of Arcane Power and Total Commitment.

One very powerful realm spell that has been talked about at length is Inferno Blades.  I decided that I would not shy away from letting this in the event.  Instead, everyone would know that it was to be played, in which round and should be able to plan for that.

On the subject of soft scores I have added a few simple rules.  Be nice.  Bring a painted army that looks like an army and make sure you play to the times. If that happens every one will get top marks!

    I played with list today.

I faced a beasts army with a mix of units using a battalion based around summoning.

I lost on the battleplan pretty quickly but it was fun to get the toys on the board.

Trip magmas is solid but I can’t help thinking it’s too many points into swingy shooting. More fireglaives and less ironsworn could be better.

Draz is a love/hate as ever. he’s very fast and tanky, bad at combat  bad at shooting  and expensive  but I love him!!

gryph charm on Tauruk is interesting, I think in a meta full of 3+ with rerolls, the -2 is not enough.  Armour of Baz is my preferred choice   But I’ll stick with this and see how it goes  for a few games

Looking forwards to playing more games

I'm playing this list today. i'll let you know how I get on.

It's very similar to what I usually play so should be an easy switch.  I don't often run the 3rd Magma or the 30 blob but I suppose I can drop some bulls and give it a go.

Lots of de-buffs in the list with the Geminids, Tauruk and ash storm.
