  1. Well that is an interesting choice for Cities. I never played the old Warhammer so I am trying to figure out what is in and what is out. So according to the rumors taken out would be: Wanderers (6 units) Freeguild (9 units) Collegiate Arcane (6 units) Shadowblades (1/3) I think the assassin and Dark Riders are old Dark Elf units? Not sure about Shadow Warriors? Ironweld Arsenal (4/7) I'm guessing the Dwarf hero and copter get saved since they are in the SC box? Flaggellants Total: 27? Units that are safe: Scourge Privateers (4 units) since they talk about the Start Collecting Disposseded (6 units) once again Start Collecting, but not all come in box? Not sure that matters Phonenix Temple (6 units) Order Serpentis (4 units) Pretty sure they are all old Dark Elves? Darkling Coven (7 units) Pretty sure they are all old Dark Elves? Ven Densts, Cursed City, and Underworld??? (9 units) The densts and Cursed City heroes were talked about in the Crusader's first article so I am guessing they are staying? Total: 36 I sort of find it strange that they would keep most of the other races and only really get rid of the Wood Elves? Everyone sort of guessed that all the humans would be taken out.
  2. As a newish players to both this game and 40k I find they both have some interesting design choices. Funny enough I find 40k an easier game to play, but I think that is just because of the factions I play for both games. Tau don't really need much thought besides railgun goes burr lol The biggest issue I have with AoS is that it feels like everything uses/needs both ward saves and/or mortal wounds to do anything. The armor/strength system of 40k may be a bit more complex, but I find it a lot more interactive and a lot less annoying. Don't know how many times I just remove my models with no rolling because of like 10 mortal wounds in one attack.
  3. Maybe with what they did with Horus Heresy compared to 40k? A lot of models are close in appearance between the two games with the big difference being the rules. Could see an attempt by GW to do the same with AOS and The Old World. Of course we have no idea what is going on with TOW and this was just to guess on why they would go with older/grounded look we have seen so far. Makes me also wonder what the human stuff will look like in TOW?
  4. Looking at how they went with older weapon design makes me wonder if they try and double dip and let players use the units in The Old World. Cities becomes the down to earth option for people who want that in Age of Sigmar, and at the same time those units can be used with humans, dwarfs, and elves in their Old World counterparts?
  5. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I jumped ship from the Star Wars games for AOS and 40k. I do not miss the days when half of the Star Wars wave would just disappear for 6 months and nobody knew why lol. And here I am a LRL player..............
  6. The article lines up with the rumors and hints we have gotten so far. DBC are a rework of the human parts of Cities of Sigmar and will not replace the faction or be it's own thing. The article also mentions the other races which also lines up with what we heard. Other races are staying in the faction, but most likely some wil be removed. We just don't know if they will cut redundant units or cut whole subfactions (like all the dark elves for a future shadow elves faction maybe?)
  7. That what makes the LRL book so interesting. By the end, most LRL list were just archers, spearman, and a few heroes. Kangaoos being cruise missiles and cows being objective holders that don't want to move may give them some play time now. Hopefully the dawnriders, swordsmen, ballista, and bannerlord can also get some love!
  8. Ya the kangaroos are not that good and really will depend on other changes. At least now they have a clear role of just running in to kill an important hero before melting to anything else. Will be interesting to see how much they change the units up. Unit cards from the box showed very little, but that does not mean much lol.
  9. Changes seem fun so far. Looks like they really trying to give the units a stronger identity and give us more options then just spearmen and archers in every list. WIndchargers now being assassins/missiles seems fun. And it will be interesting to see how far they push the cows into the tanky objective holders.
  10. In theory they could have used the DBC to remove everything in Cities from the game, but still keep it all canon. Just say it is a human only crusade and most of their stuff they had to leave/stayed back in the cities for whatever reasons. "Hurricanums are too complex to travel hundreds of miles and needs to stay inside a major city" or something like that lol. No need to retcon dozens of books then! Fortunately, they did not go that way..................... yet!!!!!! lol
  11. Really only two things on my wish list: Heavy cavalry. Would take some monster ones, but would really like some normal horses in there. Some pro kit bashing/proxy options. Like really cool they are replacing the Griffin and hurricanum, but hopefully the bases stay the same size so we can still use ours (or kit bash them with spare parts). Same for the nonhuman races they will cut/keep. Hopefully they just remove redundant ones that we could easily mix and match with ones that are kept in the faction.
  12. I do wonder how well DBC could of done if they did make it a human only faction and at the same time retire every model in Cities? Of course, it looks like it is just Freeguild and some of the other races, but still would have been interesting to see the community reaction. ............. And the sad realization that it has been months since any update lol.
  13. I could see them doing something like that. The only issue would be that they have a lot of small factions already that are struggling and adding two to three more to the mix would seem like a risk? And at least from this forum it seems they have several that could use some love. Of course I am new to GW so not really sure how crazy they are when it comes to redoing factions, retconning years of lore, and removing models. I would like to think 30+ models and removing the diversity angle from a faction in favor of just humans (which we all know will sell very well) would be too extreme with high risk of negative PR, but I don't know.
  14. This is my favorite theory now lol. Removing Darkling Covens, Order Serpentis, and maybe even Shadowblades makes a lot of sense if we are getting a new faction. And the lore always felt off to me. Would 100% work better with shadow elves since that faction would be all about the backstabbing, murder, and crazy dark magic. On the other hand, I would like to think that the Dispossessed and Wanderes are in the safe category with the pirates. Would give a nice options to City players that you really can't get from the other Order factions and the models still hold up.............. and I mean something has to carry over in the faction? Right?????? The real issue with the Phoenix Guard is that LRL are like right there lol! I would argue for the Sisters of the Watch and the pirate chariot lol. So that would give us 5 sub factions/races would be removed/remade: Freeguild Order Serpentis Darkling Covens, Shadowblades Ironweld Arsenal 3 (maybe 4) would stay in: Dispossed Wanderes Scourge Privateers Phoenix Temple Would be interested to see what other people think how much gets cut from the faction or stays with this theory. Edit: Or not lol. That is why I don't gamble or offer advice!!
  15. Based off of his likes and reacts the non human races will just be mixed together. The sad face could just be the fact that they may end up with only one or two units for each race now? Which is still a win-win for everyone? GW does not ****** off fans by destroying an entire faction/lore, they still gets to sell everything, and they have fewer units to balance in a faction that has a lot of bad units. Players get to keep on using their City armies, buy new humans (which are easily the worse looking units), and dust off units that have never seen play for cooler looking mix armies. Just a quick glace and we could combine: Hammerers/Longbeards - Duaruin elite Gyrobomber/Gyrocopter- Duaruin air machine Shadow Warriors/Sisters of the Watch- Aelf scouts Frostheart Phoenix/Flamespyre Phoenix- Anointed Phoenix And that is just stuff that comes together and looks very similar. The Aelfs races have a lot of overlap with both spear and cavalry units. Edit: Or not lol. I'll join the wait and see camp now and stop trying to guess.
  16. I have read several AOS books and the amount of retcon needed to remove the other races would be insane. In game it looks good on paper. Redo the patchwork army and boost the other Order armies that really would love a few units. In practice would be a nightmare and really bad PR. A lot of people would end up with units for 4 or 5 factions and not enough points to play any of them. Funny enough I also mix and match my Cities units based off of the weapons and going thought the list it is crazy how much overlap/redundancy they have in faction. Don't remember exactly, but I went thought the list and you could pretty much combine a 1/3 to a 1/2 of the faction in the way you listed without anything good being lost. The leaks/rumors we got point more towards Cities staying the same, but a rework of just the humans right now. Will be interesting to see how they handle the old units if this turns out to be true.
  17. In the mortals redesign discussion thread the idea of the non human races getting taken out of the faction and spread out across order factions was met with mostly hate. On paper the idea looks good with the smaller factions getting new units, but in practice it means a lot of people that play just Cities end up with just 4 or 5 different armies all and can't play any of them. Not counting that the lore really pushes the diversity angle and that is a big draw to the faction. Them doing large reworks of each subfactions but keeping in Cities is a win win for everyone. People would be able to do the diversity thing, but players would have a option of just playing the new humans (and later dwarves, elves, pirates, etc.) only armies without issues.
  18. Dang that looks really strong! Hope the rest of the book spreads the love.
  19. Funny enough I was also against more religion and gods in most games. Only after I started to read Age of Sigmar books did I finally sort of like the concept. If you got to pick a religion Sigmar is not a bad one to choose. Seems pretty chill with the accpetance and redemption. Usually most stories go the 40k route so it is a nice change of pace to have at least decent/active gods in a story..
  20. As discussed in the Cities rework thread there is really no info or clues to what the rework means. At worse they replace the entire faction with just humans and put the current cities stuff to the Old World. At best they make 9 unique human factions for each of the world's with their own look and abilities. Really the only annoying thing is that they said they would keep us updated and been 3 months with no updates......
  21. Dang I missed taking pot shots at Warmachine before the Mod Hat came out!!!! Maybe next time. Back on topic discussion! Any idea when that LRL book will leak????? They have some floating around from what we got, but only got a few leaks. Did the other books get leaked early?
  22. Updated list of LRL changes that we know of: New book with old bladelords artwork for cover Scinari Enlightener (160 points) is a wizard with a 2 cast. Can resolve a Hysh spell twice on a 3+ after casting Sentinels 24" reach, need LOS, and lambent change Wind Spirits can't move in opponents phase Stonemage can let the Stoneguard do MWs on 5s and 6s Shining company most likely lets the unit run and charge now (based off the the article's picture and discord leak comment) Sub-factions abilities: Counts as 2 on objectives extra shooting within 6" ignore 2 rend
  23. Oh I cant wait!!! Are they up anywhere? Are they good changes!??! And also in case somebody needs a theme song to go with the cows, Doja Cat got us covered!
  24. Cool. Like the pics and all lol! Then I will now go with the optimistic and ambitious option that the Dawnbringer Crusades will be new several smaller factions within a big one with each one from each of the 8 worlds. Sort of what you see in 40k (or at least what 40k looks like since I have never played it lol. That way we get a lot more diversity and options, but Cities get to stay as well!
