  1. Agreed. I have the AoS day roughly once a month and the last thing I want to do is to check the FAQ every time I play. Obvious mistakes should be corrected instantly, but as for the balance changes I would prefer them to stick to the schedule.
  2. I will carry on with the brand new hobbit halfling Gnomad army - you can watch a very fresh Season of War battle report (Gnomads vs Gitz). Notice the splendid Trail Master on War Cockerel!
  3. I'm a bit surprised that nobody mentioned the new release from Gnomes Workshop. I, for one, really love the idea.
  4. That is true. However, they are also 44x60 inches and we will see all these vastly different groups fielded as a mono-faction army. It may look good - but very different from the typical AoS style; all the new factions have a very distinct and consistent design supported with their lore. You won’t see an Idoneth enclave suddenly siding with Kharadrons and using submarines.
  5. I can't wait to hear why they use these... hand cannons (?) if they have much more advanced firearms around. Could be technological regress, but then apparently they also have stuff like cogforts and do regular business with Kharadrons.
  6. Are Windchargers more popular than Big Stabbas? But that's just one point - the other being that the rule is not bad as long as: (i) you pay for the ability; (ii) meaningful wards (5+ and better) are not prevalent. For now, the second condition is met and we'll see about the first one.
  7. I would like some higher ward saves on my crucial pieces but have no idea where to get these from. This "problem" with ward-ignoring attacks seems exaggerated - AoS has a lot of 6+ wards, some 5+ wards and occasional 4+ wards here and there. The Windchargers ability can be wasted just as often as it proves useful. There is a reason why Drakkfoot Bonespliterz are not the "go to" faction.
  8. C'mon... this looks very much like a depressed crocodile. Reminds me of the ones you can see in the zoo - they are usually bored to death.
  9. I would say Troll Slayer Orange layer paint.
  10. They are generally reasonable; the Orcs have much to complain about - but either through sheer luck or support from secret fans in the GW rules team the Ironjawz are in the best shape of all the Warclans. And miles ahead of Kruleboyz, the faction that was obviously set as the most important part of the new battletome.
  11. The concept seems correct, and both Fyreslayers & Flesheaters are a good illustration of this. I'm not really sure about the Ossiarchs though; these guys are full AoS and still very much fresh with roster to match (or exceed) factions like DoK, Idoneth and KO. I wouldn't worry for them - yet.
  12. Actually the IJ are the ones luckily saved by a combination of factors. The kits are limited, but they are all very distinct (unlike Fyreslayers) and good-looking (not a single weak / old kit here, if you ignore the Ardboys, who are... acceptable). The rules are well-written and in line with the faction's fluff. The centrepiece model is impressive - both visually and in the game. And, last but not least, if you get bored you can expend pretty easily under the Big Waaagh - just a Wurrgog Prophet with a handful of Boltboyz gives you a different experience.
  13. So true. I checked the game a while ago and once I learned it's just Chaos vs Chaos all the way I immediately lost interest. Give me proper warbands for my AoS factions and I'm more than willing to do a nice skirmish and hand over some cash to GW.
  14. Looks great. Props for the Polish military checkerboard 🙂
  15. With my scheme tested I plan to paint 20 Mortek Guard in total.
  16. Nice! My relationship with colorshift paints is, well, difficult. Maybe I should try them on different bases.
  17. The thing is, they also look surprisingly good in white. I never second guess the scheme, but…
  18. Thanks! I'm using contrast paints almost exclusively as a base layer. This time I wanted to try new contrasts as much as possible - the armour is Luxion Purple. For the highlights I mixed Dechala Lilac with some Genestealer Purple and finished by shading with Druchii Violet. Truth be told, I'm not sure if the process was finished for all three test models when i took the picture.
  19. It’s a holiday month and I was not sure if I would have the opportunity to paint at all. Surprisingly it turned out that the seaside cottage is not a bad place for the hobby; and so, the plan is to finish the unit of IJ Brutes and start the OBR army by assembling, priming and basing the unit of 20 Mortek Guard.
  20. Well, I use them as Orruk Brutes, if that is of any help 😄
  21. With the way the ward is defined in core rules, it can only protect from wounds / mortal wounds. To switch off other effects, the wording would have to be different. Check the OBR Null Myriad sub-faction ability, the Eldritch Nulls. It says: Each time a friendly Null Myriad unit is affected by a spell or endless spell, you can roll a dice. If you do so, on a 5+, ignore the effects of that spell or endless spell on that unit. This would work on Purple Sun.
