  1. Need some clarification please. Iv just received my new Sylvaneth book. I'm looking at Allerialle warscroll and it does not seem the same as I had seen previously online. Spear of Kurnoth has no melee profile. Cannot summon Gosimid archers through Soul Amphorie Can someone confirm that this is correct as I was expecting a melee profile for the spear and the ability to summon Gosimid. I'm sure it is correct but wish to check. Thank you.
  2. So I'm looking at Alarielle now. I think her new warscroll looks good, price seems fair as she now comes back to life and she's still got her summon. What I'm curious about is that she needs overgrown or Woods to do it. All I can see is the Treelord Ancient as only option for a wood that we know will work 100% (her spell also yes, but Im not risking 800 points on something that may not happen). That's 1200 points for 2 characters and I just can't see a viable army built around them with only 800 points left. As it stands it seems that really she's not viable for LC under these conditions. Is there a reliable way for LC to make stuff overgrown? An ability from a low cost Sylvaneth hero for instance. Anyone know yet if they'll be overgrown terrain in the new GHB that will appear on the table? And has anybody got an LC army there thinking about that would work built around Treelord Ancient and Alarielle? What's your thoughts on running her without a wood or overgrown (seems too risky to me.)
  3. I do wonder if a new infantry based meta came along that had lots of screens, if this ability would be so effective and the problem would kind of fix itself. But that prob won't happen So yeah, I'm salty 😂.
  4. I'm very keen on these Gossimid Archers. Not for damage but for there move blocking on a 2+. Not as reliable as the Wind foxes, but an ability just not available to Cities anywhere else. I think there might be some play in them.
  5. A Steamtank army would be cool. One of those armies that you plonk down and your apponant and yourself just know your prob going to lose but know one cares because dammit, you brought a steam tank army and who doesn't love that idea 😂. My input would be that the steamtank commander must without doubt be given The Spear of the Hunt. Furthermore, he needs to be actually modelled with a lance in the charge position. There are few opurtunities in AOS to have a tank doing a lance charge.. It should be taken. All tanks should also be named. With names written on there sides like WWI tanks. Tanky McTank Face being an obvious choice. Just saying.... 😁
  6. OK. I see now. As they have only named Sylvaneth in the text then she is only Warmaster in Sylvaneth. So nothing changes for her in CoS. I was going off the other Warmaster models like Nagash who does not get army benefits in armies except for the spells. I can see that is set up to allow him in multiple armies as he exceeds the ally points of 400 and also tones him down so he is not OP in those armies. This is good.
  7. So Allarielle is to get the Warmaster keyword. In practice does this mean she will lose access to the shoot and scoot command from LC but retain access to the spell lore? Will she also count as General in a Living City army?
  8. Wrong post entry sorry. Just ignore me. I'll let myself out now................
  9. Very new to SCE so I'm not much good for advice on your army composition... Though it looks fine to me. I do play against a double mawcrusher list a lot but. My opinion is that you really don't want Orrucks dictating the game pace and you really don't want the Orrucks deciding who gets double turns. 2 Mawcrushers on a double turn will just decimate if they set it up right. Iv been on that train a few times!! So my advise is go 1 drop if you can. With two hero monsters the most they can do is 2...so you will be deciding who goes for the double.. Not them. There dangerous on the 1st turn as well as they are super fast but at least you will know in advance and can screen for it knowing they can't double from it. I'm not suggesting that you should just give them the first turn, but this way you get the opurtunity to see the board set up before you choose. So you can decide if you can get through a first turn alpha ok or do anough in your first turn to risk them on a double. Always strong. But even better against Orrucks. At the very least if they don't know who's going first they need to set up more tamely. If losing your battalion for monsters bothers you (understandably) then consider perhaps Astral Templers for this game. Don't underestimate there speed and there ability to move, pile in and fight in the hero phase. There an army that does so much more than there war scrolls indicate. Good luck. Post how you went.
  10. Magnet them and have both. I think expensive kits like that you need to get the most out of them.
  11. 100% personnel aesthetic opinion only here. From what iv seen a unit of 2 or 4 dragons as part of a bigger army look fantastic on the table. I run a Cities list with a unit of 2 (for cities there a great combo of wounds/save/mobility _good harrassers) and they look awsome. I can't quit put my finger on it, but when iv seen a full army of dragons on table I think they look awful. Just this pile wings and ****** popping out everywhere. And again, never played against or with a full dragon list but oh wow, it looks like more work getting stuff done than a table full of Sylvaneth trees. Nothing to do with how they play. Just an opinion on how they look.
  12. Cant help with city choice sorry. Just wanted to comment that they are beautiful minis. Look Fantastic. Love contrast in colours and great tones. They look great.
  13. It's not so much Cities as Living City doing the stats jumps for them. It's LC ability to ambush from the board edge, then shoot then move again for a 3 inch charge. Add this to a unit of Fulminators and its a great threat. Combine this with having half your army off board to mitigate Alpha Strikes and also a meta that has shifted away from screening units and lots of hammers laying around waiting to be ambushed and it plays well into Living Cities tool kit. They will drop soon in win rate as people start to respond I think. More screens will go a long way in shutting them down.
  14. I'm not going to use it in the way I indicated. Im not arguing language or symatics, I think it's very strait forward rule replacement. Happens with every warscroll in AOS, I don't see why this is different. Having said that, I asked this question as I wanted to gauge what the general reaction would be. Your push back indicates to me others would find this rule use to be a bending of the rules and that no one else has jumped on to interseed indicates to me your not alone. I certainly don't won't to be that guy playing on the other side of the table looking like an idiot. We play to roll some dice and have some fun. Keeping that sense with my apponant is much more important to me than getting an advantage others would think I shouldn't. I appreciate your feedback. It's answered my real question about how this rule use would be perceived and right or wrong I think you've shown it would be frowned at and thus best avoided. So I'm going to drop this, move on and use the rule as we have been previously. Cheeers.
  15. I'm not convinced at this point. Stand and shoot and unleash hell are not the same thing. One is a warscroll ability and one is a command ability. The warscroll ability links to the command ability. They are two seperate entities. The restriction on unleash hell is not in the command ability. It's in the rules. The rules show the path of restriction for using the command ability unleash hell. The warscroll ability shows a different path to reach the use of the command ability that does not share the same restrictions because it does state when unleash hell can be used, what it does not do is state when it can't be used. I think there's an argument that this allows its use out side of phase. I do see your point however. It's deffinately not as clear cut as I thought it was. I'll now need more consideration on my initial thoughts and prob wouldn't use it if it's iffy.
  16. So I have been looking through warscrolls lately putting a few army lists together. I was looking over the handgunners scroll again and in particular the stand and shoot rule. Now excuse me if this has come up before but I noticed an angle I Havnt paid attention to. In particular it's the "if an enemy unit finishes a charge move within 3", this unit can recieve the unleash hell command " and so on. Iv been playing against orricks lately and there ability to charge out of phase has been a pain. Now this is the interesting part. Unleash hell can by the rules only be used in the charge phase. Warscrolls abilities however are used as rules modifiers and overule core rules. The stand and shoot ability only requires a unit to finish a charge move within 3". It then says you can use the unleash hell command. It does NOT say however that it must be in the charge phase. I also checked out the command ability in the core rules. While the core rules say that these are command abilities to be used in the charge phase, the wording of the actual command does NOT specify a limit to phase use. So the way I read this is that stand and shoot will allow unleash hell to be used in any phase that a charge move finishes within 3" of this unit. What's people's thoughts on this?
  17. Yes. Living City I suspect was one of the reasons that Allerielle has lost her access to all her sylvaneth spells outside of sylvaneth and as to why trees can no longer be placed in 3 seperate places at once. In both these cases they were very fair nerfs for LC I think and easily done by altering warscroll. But I'm not sure what they can do in the case of these Stormcast units that will stop LC using them with out a fundamental change to how LC works. And that's a real worry I think. To me LC isn't a problem, the problem is that Fulminators can do just so much massive damage on the charge and that large units of dragons are obviously very affective as well. The worry is it wouldn't be the first time GW has changed the horse when they should have changed the wagon. Someone at GW has obviously decided that SCE as the poster boys and girls for AOS should be a proper competitive army (as they should be). So when comfronted with having to either change new SCE warscroll or LC battletraits I think there's a good chance they'll edge towards changing LC. Or maybe not, it's GW after all. 50/50 they'll just do nothing. Which in this case would be great.
  18. No basically, you can't use verdant blessing. It's not surposed to be on any warscroll at all. It's listed in the Sylvaneth book as a seperate spell and is not even in there spell lore as such. It's a spell all Sylvaneth wizards know IF they are in sylvaneth. So you don't have access to it at all. It's an app mistake. You can get trees 2 ways in LC. 1)Treelord ancient warscroll ability... As it's not a spell. 2)you can kill a unit with Alerielles spell. And that's it I believe. If you get any trees out however the Branchwraith can summon dryads from them as her spell is warscroll and does not require anything other than trees on the table. Pretty sure that's all we can do in LC. It's fun, but it's not going to win any games.
  19. Haha yes. THIS. exactly. You only forgot to add the other end of the equation. Which is.. Am I 5 to 10 points over. Yes. Then downgrade dreadspears to Freeguild guard 😁
  20. Yeah I just magnitized one arm on one of my dragon riders and painted his left shoulder a different colour. When he's the hero I'll just pop on the flaming sword and when he's the unit leader I'll use the normal sword. Easy and I'd doubt anyone would care. As readercolin sorta points out as long as people can tell at a glance they generally don't have a problem.
  21. I checked and realised I added nothing to this topic so edited out. Sorry 😊. Can be deleted if mod around. Thanks.
  22. Thank you reply. I'll have to run with this for moment as it's the models I have. Basically your saying it's low on offensive power and needs a proper hammer..Understood. I do have 2 fulminators as well but I suspect using them as a unit of 2 won't fix this. I'll play as is now and look to shift the Draconis out and replace him next month when I have the budget for some new minis. Appreciate the response.
  23. Hello All, I am a COS player for a few years, been buying Stormcast to go with them and just realised if I buy 2 sets of Vanguards Rapt with Aetherwings I can run a full stormcast army. Is this list do-able? Celestant Prime 325 Knight Draconis. 300 Lord Relictor. 145 2x Stormdrake Guard. 340 5x Vindicators. 130 5x Vindicators. 130 3x Aetherwings. 65 3x Aetherwings. 65 6x Vanguard Longstrike 480 Total 1980. 2 drops. Celestial Vindicators. Knight Draconis is General A few questions. Will Celestial Vindicators give all these units exploding 6s on the charge (one unit per turn max I understand)? Is there a better subfaction for this army? I'll make the Draconis hero a wizard. Is one wizard anough for a stormcast army? Losing one set of Aetherwings to go one drop worth it? If I did this what would I take instead? Thanks in advance for any that answer.
  24. Basically it added the Sylvaneth army bit. So she can't use Deepwood spells in Cities armies.
