  1. It might not be as bad as it looks. The way I've been using mine is alongside a 30 man bestigor unit trying to get a turn 1 charge off in Gavespawn. So now I'll do the same thing, combo charge BL and Bestigore, swing with BL first. If they clap his cheeks on a 2 up I get a spawn that I can then dump all my CP into to boost the Bestigor attacks, if they let him live he boosts them for free with his new ability. He was never going to survive anyway, but now he has an off chance to do a little more if he happens to survive. And now my opponent has a deleted unit, and stuff on his side blocking movement/charges that has to be dealt with giving me more time to spread out to nab objectives and get chaff in place. It's different and not as good, but we should all be used to that by now.
  2. I wish Slaangors were usable, those are some beautiful models.
  3. Rerun it when equipped with some of them various magic weapons, there's never a reason to bring one naked.
  4. In order to make our brayherd units all fill a role would a complete revamp. Ungor and ungor raiders are fine as is and a useful baseline. Gor should be our anti-horde unit, an additional base attack and the current bestigor rule about attacking units of 10+ would be a great start to get them there. Maybe give them 2" reach on the charge, call it "kill frenzy" or something badass. Bestigor should be our anti-elite: 2" reach, 3+/3+, and then some conditional rules like an extra rend and d3 damage vs multiwound models would make them fit the role while not stepping on Gor's toes, this would require a points increase and possibly the loss of being made battleline but I feel like it would be worth it. The impact hits on warherd is nice, but I would love to see them get an overrun effect for wiping out units on the charge-- make it scary to try to screen them out with chaff. If they want us to stay as the "conditional effect" army that's fine, but the base units need to be good and when they meet the conditions they need to be amazing. Currently we're bad and then when we meet ridiculous conditions we're still ok-ish at best.
  5. As far as the Beastlord goes I've still got a glimmer of hope that in the base 3rd ed rules paired weapons will get a natural reroll 1's ability which would justify the switch over to exploding 6's on heroes.
  6. It's really easy to dismiss other people's problems when they don't effect you or their problems actually help you. I play BoC, we've never been a top tier army even going back to WHFB. At our absolute best we were the bottom of the fat middle. In AoS we have a book that is full of rules that give benefits that other armies get normally but ours have major drawbacks or very specific restrictions to activate. In fact, they took a rule we've had since fantasy, Ambush, and gave a better version of it to a bunch of other armies-- and it's an even better version than our subfaction that specializes in ambushing. That's kinda hurtful. So now we got a chance to get a few updates to bring us up a little in power level so that we're more in line with other books... But instead we got a sidegrade at best (Beastlord scroll), a major nerf to another unit that was already kinda bad (Jabberslythe), a rule change for a unit that was already struggling to find a role (Gors) with a major restriction (which still won't help them find a role to play), a conditional buff (warherd charges) that could have been just a flat buff, and a weak buff for another struggling unit (dragon ogors). Overall it's pretty insulting. So yeah, I can and have won with my goats, but it requires me to play perfectly at all times, whereas other armies can just plop down a bunch of broken units and faceroll to a win. I don't think it's asking too much for everyone to be at a similar power level, either bring everyone down to our level or bring the armies that are truly struggling up so that we can all enjoy the game.
  7. I feel like combo charging him with a bigger (20-30) unit of Bestigors is going to be the way to go, either by getting creative with pile in moves to minimize the BL getting hit back or by sending him into a nearby chaff unit while the Bestigor hit the real target. It won't be easy but you don't play BoC if you want easy.
  8. I mean, it does have a weird synergy with its bile blood ability, so now they have more attacks to roll 1's and take MW, and any wounds that go through cause more MW's... But yeah, still terrible, which is pretty much par for the course for us. Thanks, Bin Guy.
  9. Yes, yes, we're all aware that LRL is super duper special and doesn't care about rules, but that still leaves option three to use against them.
  10. My melee armies would love that, spend a CP to hunker down (-1 to hit), raise shields (+1 save) or run to the sound of gunfire (run/charge) would even things out quite a bit.
  11. He means make Gors have a lot of attacks' so that they chop up enemy light infantry.
  12. Off the tip of my head how about rework Bestigors into anti-elite (fewer attacks, change rules, raise damage or rend), make Gors anti-horde (just add more attacks with same damage/rend), keep Ungors as chaff. Now they each have a specific role and you don't really need to adjust points. Also, can we please get some reach to make up for 32mm bases? Call it blood frenzy or something to represent the back ranks climbing over the front to get into the fight, make it an army rule or whatever.
  13. I've been doing Gavespawn as pure breyherd tucked into a Desolating Beastherd with one extra spawn as a two drop that does well until you've seen its tricks a few times. It's fun and I love it but I'm really tired of having every single fight be stacked against me unless I played perfectly or my opponent is sloppy/doesn't know what I can do.
  14. Would it though? Let's say we keep the board edge deployment, the enemy will still have the option to deploy deeper way from the edges to make possible charges longer or they could put their heavy combat units or screening units there to intercept. We can even get into some fun mind games where they now have to deploy in awkward ways to respect the threat but we end up using our ambushing/summoning in a completely different area than what they were expecting. 6 away is still not a guaranteed charge by any means, but what it does do is make us a threat in a unique way, which is something this army desperately needs.
  15. I'd like to see a new and improved Ambush rule, it was something that was ours way back in WHFB but now they given out a better version, even better than our subfaction that specializes in it, to everyone and their brother. How about something like allowing us to deploy ambushing or summoned units from terrain features as well as board edges, maybe shorting the range restriction from enemy units too. Our ambushes should be feared, not a bad joke that serious players rarely use. Right now our biggest strengths are speed and the fact that most people have never even seen a BoC army, there's so much wasted potential. I don't want us to be broken, I just want to be competitive without having to play perfectly all the time.
  16. While I don't doubt that they'll waste four faction slots on the individual gods I would rather see just one going to marked and then choosing one of the four within it to get the bonuses which would leave room for completely new playstyle options.
  17. Which is pretty disappointing for me. I like playing with and fighting big blobs of infantry, it makes the scale of the game seem a bit more epic.
  18. Hope: we got some kind of bone thrown to us to make it so we aren't constantly fighting an uphill battle against our own rules while being outclassed by just about everyone else. Dream: we got moved up to S tier for the first time in the army's history with a huge release of new models, which would be a huge sales drive by GW for a rarely taken faction. Expectation: we remain the forgotten children and it gets even harder to win. Fear: we were squatted in 1ed, but like Milton in Office Space there was a glitch in the system but now they fixed the glitch
  19. Is there anything official about the battalions going away or is it still a rumor?
  20. It worked fine in WHFB since you could direct attacks in melee, it was just a lot harder to snipe them out.
  21. If they had given the Kinkygoats the Breyherd keyword you would have been right, as it stands BoC is still the forgotten stepchild. If battalions are really going away then we'll probably get the 4 gods as subfactions, which is pretty lame considering that by the lore beastmen that worship one of the gods are both rare and looked down on, so instead of getting new and interesting subfactions they'll waste the slots to allow them.
  22. There are a lot of factions that need updating more than SCE, but I guess the real lesson is always play the posterboys if you want nice things from GW.
  23. Year of the Beast, huh? My heart screams finally but my years of abuse by GW reminds me that they probably don't mean us.
  24. I like the enthusiasm but they didn't even throw us a bone with the hand-me-down Slaangor, who don't have the brayherd keyword.
