According to Goonhammer, our army is trash tier.

I didn't think things were quite so bad, but then again I'm not a tournament player.

Take a look at this Metawatch stat.

Overall, it does seem that for a newly updated faction, Hedonites are struggling, at least competitively. My own personal experience in casual games has been pretty good, although I would like to field more Painbringers, Slickblades and especially Slaangors.

We have unfortunately had a few trollish answers - usually just really silly stuff on the written question, which is frustrating. It's easy to ignore as they are so few in number, but a shame people find messing about in a survey fun.

I'd love to use Slaangor too, especially as they match up so well with the rest of my army. It's a massive shame they're close to unusable.

We're at 174 responses now, and I'll push the survey again in a few days - if we're lucky we may hit 200 :)

I think it would be wise for the survey to be up for two weeks.

The larger the statistical sample, larger is the GW interest to actually take a look and read it.

So, list of models that reliably perform "extremely well" for me (rarely disappoint, as noted) let's compare and discuss? -

    Glutos

    Synessa

    Sigvald

    Bladebringer on Exalted Chariot

    Exalted Chariot

    Infernal Enrapturess

Be'lakor (he's here because he wins games and is on the menu currently with thematic reasons to believe GW will hesitate before removing that option)

Models that perform pretty/reasonably reliably well for me (they disappoint sometimes, but but not most games) -

    Blissbarb Archers

    Seeker Chariot

Daemonettes (in units of 10, where the tax isn't excessive)

    Dexcessa

    Seekers

Units I've not used much but have reason to believe fall into one of the above categories based on others reporting -

    Contorted Epitome

    The Masque

    Hellstriders

    Twinsouls

    Blissbarb Seekers

Units that are useful, but only when summoned  -

Keepers (because of Hero + Monster meta)

Daemonettes > 10 (perfectly good unit for zero points)

Honestly, listing it out, I feel like the "problematic part of the faction" is more limited than one might think.  I feel like we have a decent number of very good warscrolls, and a number of warscrolls that are at least "fine".  Then a number that would be fine if they were a bit less taxed, or that leave something to be desired but are at least playable in some scenarios.

Only Shalaxi and Slaangors seem really bad at any cost (that isn't criminally low).

    I apologize for short post but I am at work so;

In general I have found the following to be a problematic part of our faction: Slaangors, Painbringers, Slickblades, Shalaxi and regular Keeper of Secrets. In my opinion, Slaangors need a warscroll rewrite, while the others just need to a cost readjustment.

I do not own a Be'lakor, though it is evident I must buy him asap.

Thanks for the info :) It definitely seems like good saves are a struggle we face, and one that's pretty tricky to get around considering our best damage dealers are Twinsouls and they don't exactly do brilliantly against good saves. I do think this is something a KoS can deal with more effectively, but their points are a bit too high at the moment. I guess Archaon also does the job, but Archaon isn't exactly a suggestion I like to make as a list with him in becomes an Archaon list. We do have some decent MW abilities - not amazing, but Slickblades and Painbringers can be pretty good for them, but again they're a bit pricey and can't be summoned.

Also, I'll be putting out the form very soon :)  Not to spoil too much, but here's the response to the current Slaangor points cost:

Honestly, anyone who chooses the option that they are too cheaply costed is just trolling us.

Slaangors are such a beautiful models with cool lore, I wish to field them as much as possible.

  5. I think it would be wise of us to continue with the survey path.

GW does listen to proper feedback and the individual I plan to send final version of survey, has told me half a hour ago, that he will send it to proper GW departments. The survey will not get lost but will reach destinations, beyond that, it is up to people working in those departments.

I would also like to bring an army to an event without feeling like I'm actively shooting myself in the foot.

But I think it's about time I bowed out of this forum and the game for a while. While Slaanesh will always be my faction, the changes to the faction and to the game in general in recent months have put me in a bad head space to properly enjoy AoS for the time being, and I don't believe I'm contributing much value to the discussions here.

For those that still enjoy the faction and the game, more power to you and keep trucking on.

    Sorry to see you leave.

Looking back, a lot of fellow Slaanesh players who posted here a year ago, are no longer posting.

  7. I am always willing to help with the survey and its distribution to as many people who play Slaanesh as possible.

But AOS 3. will heavily feature updates for factions that are outdated, whether in rules or models, such as BoC, Skaven, Idoneth.

We can do a survey and since I am on first name basis with a individual who works in their UK customer service, the survey will 100% be sent to proper departments. Beyond that, it is up to people working in those departments.

    @Enoby

I was thinking of making a thread, where we could write what potential models we would like to see as part of Hedonites one day. Completely new models, reflecting various concepts linked to Slaanesh.

Do you think there would be interest?

I think Shalaxi is probably one of our most disappointing units because they have so much potential thematically but just don't do their job well (worse than a normal KoS in fact). It'd be like if Gotrek's unkillable gimmick was a 5+ ward and reducing damage by 1.

I know that the new book is more seen as a Slaanesh 1.0 from the designers (according to a playtester). The old book was more like a 0.5 Beta test, which is why little changed with the rules (both allegiance abilities and daemons) besides fixing the most egregious problems like DP and locus.

In the next book, I hope it's a true 2.0 and they look at the book holistically and make some QoL improvements to lesser used units, and of course give us some new things to play with rules-wise.

It would be nice for Shalaxi to be reworked to be the very best hero killer in the game (costed appropriately). Something like this:

    Screenshot_20210810-110024_Chrome.jpg.221748c28c7fa6f1a7e39dd3d30f3ab7.jpg

Most abilities would focus around the Quarry - and while they seem incredibly strong against that Quarry, they're not very strong at all against everything else - so it would be a game of cat and mouse. The opponent can keep them easily tied up with chaff (Soulpiercer sucks against small models), but if they leave their god model open then Shalaxi will at least leave a big dent.

Definitely not a perfect Warscroll, but one I hope gets the "Perfect Hunter" part of their lore (really the only part of their lore) across. I'd like them to be as good at hunting as Teclis is at casting, or Skarbrand is at getting angry.

That would be a very good Shalaxi, quite lore correct too.

    Also, for my fellow Hedonites,

    @AngryPanda Thoughts?

I’d be surprised if the Kurnothi weren’t lumped into the Sylvaneth, since the Oak of Ages is back and the “Lifequake” seems to be a thing this edition. My guess is about 4 or 5 army update tomes in we’ll get a hear something about them.

    I would be surprised too.

But I think that would be a good move to truly explore the Kurnothi in depth.

  10. I am wondering when will we see Malerion faction and Kurnothi? In next 2-3 years maybe?

I just hope Malerion does not end up merging with DoK or using the old Dark Elf model line.

Kurnothi would also be better if they were a standalone faction, they are aelven beasts who belong more in Ghur then they are plant people of Ghyran.

  11. Skaven are probably among the most popular factions GW ever designed in their entire history.

But all four great clans need massive model updates plus some actual completely new heroes, units and monsters.

In a way, the problem is that each Great Clan could be a battletome in itself, like Four Chaos gods have each their own.

In my opinion, some of the problems with Slaanesh aren’t actually problems with us specifically, but are defined by larger balancing issues in the game. Teclis, similar to the OBR Petrifix Elite when they first came out, is op and probably didn’t receive the point increase that he deserved. The same can be said about Sentinels, and shooting overall.

Slaanesh does have transparent weaknesses, but there are numerous lists we can make within the casual setting that can go toe-to-toe with most other armies while having a good time, both for the opponent and yourself. Within a competitive setting, the issues begin to materialize more clearly; this is where the debates begin to arise on how to deal with balance.

My best answer is either going some sort of calvary-themed list that takes advantage of our high speed, high damage units, or a list that centers around the numerous named characters we have and one of our best units: Twinsouls. We also have really, really good endless spells that can be used to generate depravity while also dealing scary damage. I personally like Glutos a lot, he’s a beautiful model and is a jack-of-all-trades unit that accomplishes multiple roles (melee, debuff, magic, etc.) I see a lot of people talk about the recent twins that were released, bur don’t see as many people talk about Fatakros. Glutos is a sleeper that people have somewhat forgotten about due the point changes and disruption that the new meta has brought with it. For 475 points, he’s a decent point investment, but brings a lot of value to the table.

I like to pair him with Painbringers because the models are beautiful and it’s fun to have a relatively (if not very overcosted) tanky unit act as a screen for the glutton. If I were playing competitively, I’d swap out the Painbringers for a unit of Twinsouls. From there, I’d explore what option I have.

Might be a good idea to do one more survey in month or two.
