  1. Care to elaborate on that? Is it just the points issue? I have a few unassembled/partially assembled chariot kits, and am a fan of the Ruinbringer Warband already, but haven't done much testing of how the chariots actually do in game. I'm really hoping they get a bit of a points drop in the next review, as I'd love to throw some into my list but currently don't have room.
  2. My dream changes to Ossiarchs, the ones that would make me put them definitively on the #1 spot for my next army, would be either a buff to Ivory Host to make them not terrible, or a cheaper (probably on foot?) combat hero. I have a sweet idea for some lore around a Legion Nagash raised out of the bodies of Chaos followers to prove his supremacy, and either Ivory Host's berserking or Null Myriad's magic resistance would make great sense for a counts-as for such a force. Unfortunately, Ivory Host's ability is just godawful to the point where I'd rather go without a Legion at all, and the Null Myriad's magic resistance seems much less useful when you want to take wizards who can help with unbinding just to fill out hero options.
  3. I think the Lumineth are striking a very interesting balance so far, with what seem to be their main battleline units being very traditional, and some of the other units growing gradually more out there. Will be interesting to see if that remains the case as a wider selection of the army is revealed.
  4. My Slaves to Darkness army, the Brotherhood of Strife, is a twisted knightly order centered around two warriors exiled from a Free City for letting their sibling rivalry endanger a battle's success. The knights and their followers have since turned to competing for the favor of the Chaos Gods, but maintain a strict discipline in battle that comes from their profaned knightly code. They lair in the realm of Ulgu, and specialize in lightning strikes and misdirection to beguile their foes and sow discord between other factions. The leader of the faction is Kurath, the elder of the two Brothers of Strife, while his brother Lothran is his second in command, and the sorcerer Xyrados the Willbreaker serves as their vizier and enforcer from the back of an enslaved manticore. The tests of lesser warriors hoping to join the Brotherhood or ascend to the ranks of the Chaos Knights are overseen by the Chaos Lord Murazed, the Master of Trials. Finally, two more sorcerers, Siriak the Darkseeker and Kirias the Light-twister, work with the Brotherhood to plumb Ulgu's mysteries. No one is sure exactly what the relationship between these last two is, or if they are even two separate beings at all instead of the result of a particularly strange mutation. In rules terms, all those characters are my heroes--two Karkadrak Lords, and a Manticore-riding Sorcerer for leaders, then on foot Chaos Lords and Sorcerer Lords backing them up. When I get around second army, I'm debating between an Ossiarch force scavenging for ancient and potent remains in Ghyran called the Gnarlbone Legion or some kind of Lumineth force (more details pending). I had a neat idea for a Ossiarch army made entirely from the bones of sorcerers and chaos followers that would serve as a sign of Nagash's arrogance and dominion over the dead, but I couldn't make the list work, sadly.
  5. Although not a purely cav army, I have had good success locally with a Slaves to Darkness army focused around the Ruinbringer Warband warscroll battalion. I have a few variants of the list, but the on-charge mortal wounds from that are quite nice, and I find the mounted Chaos heroes I use (Lord on Karkadrak and Sorcerer on Manticore) to be pretty effective. I know from the griping in the StD thread I've seen that most Chaos units are considered overpriced in points, though, so I doubt it would place well at a serious tournament.
