  1. Oh, nice. I did have a 2 left at the end of the battle. Since they can’t be rerolled, does that mean you can’t use them to replace the results for a reroll?
  2. I ran my list today. Blood and Glory vs Ironjawz. 9 Enlightened did phenomenally well. Took out a unit of Gore Gruntas on the first turn and ‘ardboyz and Brutes and a Warboss on the third. Then two more heroes before the end of the game. The Icon of Tzeentch worked very well too. It was as I predicted, very easy to capitalize on it with minimal risk. Got +1 attacks on the first turn, getting my Enlightened up to 5/6 attacks for Spears, 4 for Beaks and D3+2 for the discs. Not a must bring, but definitely not “lol trash cuz possible drawback”. Unfortunatley I couldn’t get the Simulacrum or Dirgehorn into play. I only successfully casted 8 spells that game. The Hosts Arcanum performed well. I was able to auto-unbind Hand of Gork on the first turn and Destiny Dice it on the second. And my free Screamers won a major victory for me in the top of the 5th. 20 Acolytes ended up doing about 8 damage to some Ardboyz and Brutes and folded to a Mawcrusha. They actually got all their spells off so if my other wizards could have pulled their weight I could have won earlier or held off the Mawcrusha another turn. Happy about the points I spent. Lost my Pinks to battleshock. Expect it if they aren’t near your General. Also lost my Magister to spawndom in the 5th after rolling 4 straight 1s. Fantastic game. I had a blast. Tzaangors heavy list performed way better than I expected given their vacuum nerfs and without running Battalions or a Coven that adds value to them(I used to think the old Tzaangor Coven was borderline necessary to make them competitive with Pinks). Icon performed better than I excepted(though I think I trended lucky with it).
  3. Ok; So I made my list I’m going to try tomorrow. It will be a friendly game so my goal will not necessarily be to win but to try some of the less popular endless spells. The Hosts Arcanum Arcanite Cabal 140 Fatemaster 120 points. General; Trait: Changecoven Trait Artifact: Secret Eater Magister(Foot) 100 Shield of Fate Tzaangor Shaman 150; Arcane Suggestion 2x10 Kairic Acolytes with Shields 200 20 Tzaangor with Shields 360 9 Tzaangor Enlightened 540 Gaunt Summoner on Foot 240 Artifact: Changecoven Artifact Spell: Glimpse the Future Doomblast Dirghorn 50 Buning Sigil of Tzeentch 40 Daemonic Simulacrum 50 Points: 1990 So the strategy here is to use the Trait to attempt to move the Shaman and Enlightened up, so that the Shaman can lay down the Horn as deep as possible. Tzaangors deploy as close to a Hero Monster as possible. Acolytes screen the Gaunt Summoner. Shaman deploys the Dirghorn. Gaunt Summoner then puts down the Icon as close to the Dirgehorn as possible to set up an overlapping debuff field turning a large area of the battlefield into a miserable hellscape. Then hit the enlightened with Shield of Fate and use their destiny dice to make a 9” charge if possible, the added survivability from the Shield and Dirgehorn should let them get their Visions of the Past with minimal risk. After the first turn, the Shield of Fate goes on the the infantry blobs who try to hold objectives while the Enlightened go around deleting what they can with their shiny new attacks. Tzaangors will try to get into a fight with a Hero Monster if they can to get the +1 save agenda. Simulacrum is just there for another Horde Clearer. There’s pretty few wizards in this list after the Acolytes and Pinks get breathed on so it shouldn’t backfire too much. Geminids or an extra CP is probably a better buy, but this is experimental.
  4. Yeah, I’m thinking about that too. 3 Auto unbinds a game is sooooo nice. I’ve recently began to realize that unbinds are probably the most effective use of Destiny Dice when opponents brought strong wizards.
  5. Yeah I was thinking the LoC wouldn’t be worth its points without a couple more Daemon Wizard Heroes; but then I remembered the Rod of Nukery.
  6. I’d probably drop the LoC and bring in a Shaman and 3 enlightened then. Not saying its better, I’m just saying that’s what I’d do(and probably will do, lol) Or is that 2 separate units you need for the battalion? If so, nevermind.
  7. If you aren’t going all in with the Enlightened and backing them with a Shaman you’re probably better off running a 20 unit of Tzaangors.
  8. It exists in both allegiances. It lets you pick one or the other. Id consider doing it with the Manticore Sorcerer.
  9. Pg 70 of GHB 2019 states they are the assumption in matched play tournaments unless otherwise specified in the tournament package. They are in the same rules entry that lets people use Malign Protents Realm artifacts that are regular inclusions in matches play.
  10. I’m sure we can make a competitive list without Horrors and Gaunts. Like I’ve been saying; they are a weaker unit than what we used to have. The changes to Gaunt Summoners and Pinks benefits the other Chaos factions allying them in a lot more than they benefit us.
  11. Just take the Lifeswarm if you want a Horror engine. Run over post-Pink unit with an endless spell; cast Lifeswarm(probably dispell it if it’s too risky to keep near the opponent). Then you’ll be able to roll a battleshock at the end with an Icon Bearer if you haven’t lost him in the combat round. Our mind has a bias that make 1/6th chance of losing the unit feel less risky than it is; but that’s the same chance of making a save without Rend or a FnP with the pink, and we expect that to happen. Fold Reality definitely has value, and that value is using it when there is a greater chance of losing the unit in combat than losing it to the spell.
  12. @Inquisitorsz And that now, Fold Reality risks destroying your entire unit, rather than slaying it. The distinction being that before; the worst case scenario was that we lost the unit but still got all the points for it. Now we just lose the whole unit. I’d only do it if I were down to Brims now. Then bring back the Pinks. Its a lot harder to keep the Horror engine going now. Which is why I recommend the Lifeswarm if you attempt to do it.
  13. Nope; you need the Icon Bearer, who is a Pink Horror, alive at the end of the battleshock phase.
  14. Other thing to note about the Disc version is that it lacks the ARCANITE keyword.
  15. Is the Rule of three for non-battleline a thing in this game; or is that just 40k? If it is a thing you can only take 3 units of the same warscroll. It’s ridiculously vulnerable to alpha strikes. You don’t get your pinks until your first hero phase so if they can take out your Summoners. Somewhat related; Pinks are very vulnerable to getting tarpitted since their focus is shooting. They are also ironically vulnerable to horde armies that can surround them and deny our splits. You aren’t going to be taking advantage of all of your Gaunt’s casts. That’s probably not a big deal though since only 1 cast is good for the price you’re paying for them. You may want to take as many Tzaangors as possible for battleline because you’ll need something with teeth in this army.
  16. I’ll give them a try when they come out. I think we were all expecting better. Taurus and in certain lists, the Dirghorn(BoC); Darkfire Daemonrift and probably the Rupture are better options than what we get in it, however: Simulacrum is basically a second Gaunt Summoner warscroll spell that can backfire on you. I dunno. The Purple Sun is really popular in our lists and I see the same problems with it, and it’s only more useful against Elite armies. If we use it we’ll though it should our damage pretty much anything other than a well placed Daemonrift. The Tome I think is pretty good if you don’t want to deal with Blue Scribes. There are other sources of reroll casts, but reroll casts is REALLY good. At I think that we’re collectively underselling auto cast and unbind immunity on Snakeeyes. I think that now people in the know about Horrors are going to make a point to focus down the Pinks until we lose our Icon Bearer, diminishing the value of 1s on Battleshock for that. Lots of people are dismissing the Sigil on first look, because its results are unpredictable and possibly can hurt us. But the timing of it is actually really easy to mitigate poor results. Some things to note about the spells with drawbacks. 1) A LoC can just eat it 2) We still can attempt to dispel them with Pinks and Acolytes when they are wizards.
  17. I’m pretty sure this is intended. LoC’s got a pretty substantial nerf from Beacon of Sorcery requiring units be “wholly within” without increasing its range.
  18. I could never accomplish anything with him but that was due to atrocious luck. He should be the best candidate for the artifact that procs on 6 unmodified rolls to hit.
  19. I would highly recommend not losing a CP over the Disc Magister. CPs are way too important with Mortals/ Arcanites. If I were you I’d just blue-tack your Magister onto a 32 mil base until you get a replacement. 2 Shamans is fine. It’s not ideal to run all your Disc Tzaangors in a blob anyway. I end up splitting them up to assassinate a hero with the Skyfires.
  20. So some things came to mind; Even though Enlightened/Skyfires don’t benefit from Locus, you can bring in the Dirghorn BoC endless spell and debuff your enemy hit rolls with that. Combined with other defensive effects; Shield of Fate and Arcane Suggestion’s hit/wound roll debuff; you can make it really easy to minimize enough casualties to make the a Visions of the Past a worthwhile gambit. The Tome of Eyes combos really well with Kairos and Ogroid Thaumaturge since the Grasping Tendrils can mitigate the mortal wounds you take from it. You can also try to risk using it with your Magister for double casting on Snake Eyes. I think the Burning Icon is fairly underrated. For one thing, if you have a LoC out you can just remove it if it will cause problems. For another thing, the effect takes place at the end of your movement phase making it very easy to predict whether or not it will have a detrimental effect. Lastly, if it brings out a spawn it gets its points back. As above; if you get the hit debuff to go off with the icon, have the Dirghorn out and cast Arcane Suggestion on a unit with 4+ to hit, you eliminate their chance to hit your Enlightned.
  21. Ugh that’s right. Enlightened on foot make decent backlines for Acolytes though. Their Spears have 2” so they’ll generally get the full rerolls ability.
  22. Tzaangor Shaman and Balefire Taurus. 3 more enlightened in that unit so you can take full advantage of the +1 attacks and +1 save agendas on them. 3 Skyfires to threaten Heros. Gaunt Summoner and their free pinks. I think you have 30 points left after that. So maybe The Burning Head endless spell to help fish for 6s on the Skyfires. Instead of the Summoner you could do a foot magister, another 10 acolytes and a command point. Then Suffocating Gravetide(if my math is right).
