  1. I originally got into IDK with the intention of doing them as a Kurnothi Wild Hunt sort of idea -- all based around mists instead of the aether sea. For eels I was going to make take the wild riders but make them centaurs, leviadon was going to be the frost/flame phoenix painted like ethereal misty, kitbash Orion with Radukar the Beast as a counts-as Eidolon, etc. The big prob was I couldn't think of anything I particularly liked for sharks that would have fit on the same base. Anyway all that is to say, there is some cool ideas if you wanted to get away from the sea creature theme.
  2. IIRC the units in Dominion were costed a lot higher in the box and the points dropped a bit with the tome. Since it doesn't look like our book is imminent either, we might see a similar circumstance here.
  3. Hmmm, if the new character hands our reroll 1s, maybe the new tome *won't* be stripped of them all
  4. No word on a new Tome for either faction, so maybe there's still hope they will get a more substantial release soon. It's been like a month now since the Nurgle release and still not a peep (officially) about what Tomes are in the pipeline then. Also, curious that the rumours said OBR tome/expanded range in Jan, but its just a WD article instead.
  5. The individual FAQ/Errata documents have the specific rules for what coalition can't benefit from. For Khorne it's Slaughterhosts and Blood Tithe Rewards. All your other (Khorne related) examples haven't changed.
  6. Well that looks like the final nail in my Khorne army. My poor Arbaal on Karkadrak kitbash...
  7. I'm glad the politics are gone and we're back to quality content
  8. I can't imagine they'd break precedent to actually put out an article specifically to give everyone a heads up about what the points change will be in the FAQ, then make the points change just be something else instead. Like, I know it's easy to be pessimistic and assume GW is going to go with the dumbest option, but this just seems nuts. And all for a measly extra 30 points? I doubt it.
  9. It's about time we got a new Eltharion model, right?!
  10. What a perfect opportunity to grab the new Nurgle-brand Virulent Dice-ease™ dice conveniently up for pre-order this weekend
  11. I mean, they're already hard countered by an entire battleplan and needing an expensive hero as tax buuuuuuut, yeah I can see the rules team not taking that into consideration at all.
  12. I was only talking about what was in the boxes themselves, not any other additional releases. I feel like if the releases are just going to be new char + new unit, they'd both be in the box. Generally they'd release the new unit stand alone a couple months later. Also, didn't mean to come across like I was "umm.. actually"-ing @Myst, and dump on what they were saying. Just wanted to add the proper context to what I was speculating.
  13. Wrath and Rapture had new Karnak and Flesh hounds. The Slaanesh and Sisters stuff mentioned weren't anything new beyond a character. Blood of the Phoenix also had new character + new unit (kit, at least) for both sides. So there's definitely a precedent of more than just a new character each. Some of the early stuff before battleboxes were super common were pretty lopsided with new stuff though (Death Masque, Blightwar). Could also be that the IDK unit just has two different builds and warscrolls.
  14. You've pretty much nailed it all on the head. Liberators have virtually the same output as Vindictors, and are generally the best choice. Vindictors are the only melee battleline worth reinforcing since they can fight in two ranks, so there's some utility there. Reinforced Judicators are basically thought of in the same conversations as 6 Longstrikes, being battleline is just gravy for them. I believe it's ep 5 of the Stormkeep that goes in to this the best
  15. I guess it's going to be nothing but Eldar then? At least they can show something else though. 3 of the 4 have totally been Rangers. Give me a little Striking Scorpion mandible or something!
  16. Per the whole Era of the Beast, what a wasted opportunity to do a little splash release of Ghur endless spells (like the Shyish ones in Forbidden Power). Could have had an awesome piece for Amber Spear or Flock of Doom. Allor won me everything in Shadow of the Horned Rat with those spells!
  17. I've been planning a Hysh board for a little while now. I'm going with some light tan/golden grasses to match the little wheats on the Lumineth bases, as well as some fairly bright grey rocks for contrast (look at the grassland areas of Bastion in WoW if you're familiar). I definitely want to do one of those classic High Elf obelisks -- when I was a kid my mom helped me make one and it was the one piece of terrain I had that wasn't just the cardstock houses from the box games and WD. I got a set of the Teclis base ruins from a bits site too. Beyond that, I'm not too sure. The tome doesn't help much, it's just some floating islands and larger versions of the little bonsai trees.
  18. I only recently emerged from the depths to start up IDK and @vinnyt's posts have definitely helped! I already feel more confident about what to do with them than the Lumineth I've had for a year now! I'd love any additional advice there might be for Forgotten Nightmares. I assume you'd either want Namarti to be the target if you're facing volume of fire, or the Ishlaen vs quality (higher rend) shooting?
  19. Any tips on getting off the high cast spells without Teclis? My buddies and I are switching to 1500 for now so we can squeeze in more games, but it's hard to get anything going reliably in the first turn (after T1, I can at least get Protection off with a thinking Scinari). Am I missing anything basic beyond burning an aetherquartz to reroll, the shrine reroll, and twinstones? I get a fair share of bad rolls + facing a lot of tzeentch too, so it's hard enough to even get off CV5s, let alone something like Prot or Eclipse. Maybe rebuilding around Zaitrec?
  20. It's about when you can add on as many +1 to save buffs on a unit as you have access to. The save itself can never be increased beyond +1, but any extras you add on will negate rend. So like a unit of Libs (4+ save) with shields (+1 save) with all out defense (+1 save) ends up as a 3+ save, ignoring 1 point of rend.
  21. TFW Cities basically gets the infinite damage negating Cycle o/t Storm, lol
  22. I was thinking of using the knight arcanum's staff, but then putting the censer on the top of the staff instead.
  23. So you can't even Blaze with Cycle now right? Well, that was a fun one game I got in with Aventis...
  24. Man, I don't even care about this spider guy, give me reveals for this Chaos terrain!
