  1. Also, the +1 to save allows you to charge with the LCoSD (hence, losing staunch defender) into a block of enemies without rend and still remain 2+ rr1 and heal on natural 6
  2. About the last point, I would still go for Spellweaver + Exorcist, so you can (at least try, if you are going second) put the latter out of unbind range and increase the chances of the comet
  3. Oh, sure I'll try both as soon as I can get my hands on the models -truth is, I would also like to paint some KO ship with stormcast-y colors so I'm trying to find a good excuse to get them
  4. Ok, I don't think I can really argue with you considering your recent results so, from the shooting angle I agree 100%, it's the mobility (+ the relative sturdiness) that I find interesting. Following on your alternative, the other option I am considering would be 2x 10 shadow warriors for threatening objectives.
  5. hi all, anyone has tried including 2 gunhaulers as allies? they seem to bring a lot in their warscroll and I am thinking they might be interesting with their mobility to threaten the whole board + a little shooting as bonus
  6. Just a detail, but I think you can keep Neave, as the battallion only requires KNIGHTS-ZEPHYROS (as in the keyword). Also, if you go Hammers of Sigmar, the first artifact should be the one forced by the Stormhost (God Forged Balde or something like that)
  7. Someone is actually running that kind of list in one of the qualifying tournaments for the French Cup Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals - Mortal Realm: Hysh - Stormhost: Anvils of the Heldenhammer LEADERS Knight-Vexillor (120) - Pennant of the Stormbringer - Artefact : Soulthief Lord-Relictor (100) - General - Command Trait : Deathly Aura - Artefact : Aetherquartz Brooch - Prayer : Translocation UNITS 5 x Liberators (100) - Warblade & Shield - 1 x Grandblades 5 x Liberators (100) - Warhammer & Shield - 1 x Grandhammers 5 x Liberators (100) - Warhammer & Shield - 1 x Grandhammers 9 x Vanguard-Raptors with Hurricane Crossbows (420) 9 x Vanguard-Raptors with Longstrike Crossbows (510) 3 x Vanguard-Raptors with Longstrike Crossbows (170) 6 x Aetherwings (100) 3 x Aetherwings (50) 3 x Aetherwings (50) BATTALIONS Vanguard Justicar Conclave (120) ENDLESS SPELLS / TERRAIN / COMMAND POINTS Extra Command Point (50)
  8. ok got it maybe without the certainty of the LO bonus it might be worth to consider 9 hurricane raptors to shoot the screens instead?
  9. Problem with the second list is that you cannot have the 3 ballistas + LO+azyros block in the sky AND the Gavriel, Vandus and Evos as well -since you have 12 units in total. If the ballistas are not depolyed this way, it's quite unlikely you will be able to be in range for the 4 attacks and the average of 3 33" shots will not clear much in terms of screens (they total on average 5-8 wounds, if I am not mistaken)
  10. Yeah it's great, although personally I am testing a different (more expensive) option: ally in a Spellweaver and keep the exorcist. So the exorcist can be deployed outside unbind range and you maximize the chance of the R1 comet -with only one wizard and balewind you have four potential "obstacles" (casting roll for the vortex, unbind, casting roll for the comet, unbind)
  11. downgrade the incantor to exorcist and take a balewind vortex -not sure whether losing the dispel scroll is worth it though
  12. Would a Drakesworn Temple list even be worth considering? 🤔Something like Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals Mortal Realm: Shyish Drakesworn Templar (420) - Tempest Axe - Artefact: Ethereal Amulet - Mount Trait: Storm-winged Drakesworn Templar (420) - General - Tempest Axe - Trait: Staunch Defender - Mount Trait: Storm-winged Drakesworn Templar (420) - Storm Lance - Artefact: Goblet of Draining Knight-Incantor (140) - Spell: Chain Lightning 5 x Liberators (100) - Warhammer & Shield - 1x Grandhammers 5 x Liberators (100) - Warhammer & Shield - 1x Grandhammers 5 x Liberators (100) - Warhammer & Shield - 1x Grandhammers Drakesworn Temple (140) Everblaze Comet (100) Balewind Vortex (40) Total: 1980 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 1 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 83
  13. That's why I prefer ballistas (with prime and LCoSD, wish I could fit a comet too though) with no stormhost
  14. The problem I encountered when trying LCoSD, Prime and Convocation (lots of fun btw, thanks for sharing the idea!) was with big multi wound models (notably, mawcrusha, stonehorns). From my very limited experience, I find I lack the means to kill them, screen them or slow them down. I always end up missing my ballista platoon
  15. I am still very much a noob but I am testing this list in preparation for a tournament and the ballista as a hammer are quite effective at dealing with big monsters (I know they are supposed to be swingy but with 4 of them + LO they have been quite consistent for me in terms of average wounds per round) and with small heroes too coupled with MW from drake and prime LCoSD, Prime, Incantor, Ordinator, 3xlibs, 4xballistas I know this somewhat changes the nature of the list though 😅
  16. many thanks all for your replies! The question did indeed arise in a friendly game, so I immediately dropped it and triggered the ability only in the normal movement, but since I will go to my first tournament this Spring and I am almost convinced of bringing a drake I wanted to start preparing my case
  17. hi all, can someone direct me to the FAQ (concerning in fact a different ability, if I understood correctly) which confirms that the Storm Winged trait can be activated in the movement, charge and pile-in (combat) phases? thanks!
  18. at the 50-men tournament here in France it's 7 OBR at the moment do tournament OBR lists normally include Katakros? Is it worth it to focus him in case?
  19. keeping changes to a minimum, replacing the relictor with a veritant for 20pts would give you at least an unbind roll (you lose the possibility of healing though)
  20. I think I would go for the 4th ballista. Cointoss comet (+unbind) is not great, considering that at least 2-3 rounds I will be casting azyrite halo on the drake
  21. I feel naked without two dispel scrolls but I see what you mean. In fact I am more concerned by the lack of mobility + lack of bodies which would make it difficult to play for the objectives against large units (unless they're in 18" of the balliastas ofc). Anyway, I know that the army cannot really cover everything atm, so I'll think about this alternative! Many thanks for your suggestions
  22. I do. So, something like this? (can't really fit the 4th ballista if I include some protection against magic) Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals - Mortal Realm: Aqshy LEADERS Celestant-Prime (340) Lord-Celestant on Stardrake (500) - General - Command Trait : Staunch Defender - Celestine Hammer - Artefact : Ignax's Scales - Mount Trait : Storm-winged Lord-Ordinator (140) Lord-Castellant (120) Knight-Incantor (140) - Spell : Azyrite Halo Spellweaver (100) - Heartwood Staff - Allies UNITS 5 x Liberators (100) - Warhammer & Shield - 1 x Grandhammers 5 x Liberators (100) - Warhammer & Shield - 1 x Grandhammers 5 x Liberators (100) - Warhammer & Shield - 1 x Grandhammers WAR MACHINES Celestar Ballista (110) Celestar Ballista (110) Celestar Ballista (110) ENDLESS SPELLS / TERRAIN / COMMAND POINTS Quicksilver Swords (30) TOTAL: 2000/2000
  23. hi everyone! In Spring I will go to my first tournament, to get some experience and get to play 5 games. Although I am fully expecting a 0-5 and am pretty relaxed about that, I still want to try to get there with a list as decent as possible -threshold: feeling I have a chance as r1 starts in games 4 and 5. Before the FAQ I planned on going with a slight variation on a pretty standard shootcast list, which I have been learning to play recently. Shoould I reconsider? Anyone has positive/negative experiences to share when it comes to playing the longstrike with 24" range in the hero phase? Any alternatives worth considering? (no Stardrake-heavy, I own one drake and cannot afford another one before the tournament ) thanks!
  24. Right, I see, thanks for the added explanation. With a second/third drake you are sitting at around 1200/1300 points to do on average 6-8 MW per turn. If we are counting lucky scenarios, we can as well drop 4 ballistas from the sky with an ordinator and an azyros, and those will still dish on average 7-13 wounds T1 to 3+ save heros with lookout sir for a mere 680 points (which in comparison with the drakes, would leave points for 9 longstrikes on top). Of course if you need MW for specific reasons or to ignore LoS that's a different matter. So yeah, I don't know. I admit I've never gone so all-in with the drakes (only ever fieldeded one LCoSD + castellant) so I am definitely not saying that the list cannot work.
  25. I still don't get this "potential" (although the list might work due to its sheer surprise effect): for 840 points you get an average of 2 MW to 2 units (drake) and 2 MW in 3 inches (prime) in each of your turns. So on average you won't be removing any of those 5/6 wounds heroes in T1. This feels underwhelming for such an investment -but I am happy to be convinced otherwise as I own and love both models
