  1. yup! anyway, I was hoping to see the whole warscroll or at least the statline. With rend -2 the statement about rend being reduced in the new edition sounds pretty fun (I know, it's a sniper rifle), I am curious to see if the same is true about range -if they kept range 30" we're exactly where we left.
  2. more like semi-continuation: they have the same rule already
  3. they can still do 2 per day if needed, I don't think Faction Focuses are such a massive draw for the new edition anyway -as always, I think most people don't care much about the rules and rules don't drive sales so much
  4. I think the idea is that they have covered the rules and these will be fully revealed on the 18th. Then they will start covering the factions I suppose
  5. It is, but as @Starfyre pointed out, neither Leviathan nor Dominion might be the correct analogy. The inclusion of the GHB and other stuff already represents a departure from those boxes. So, the more I think about it, the more it seems that we will get 2 spearheads (SCE and Skaven) in terms of minis. The stuff we've seen for Stormcast (in the video and the minis we know so far) matches pretty well with Yndrasta's spearhead: -Yndrasta ==> Hero on crow charger -10 vanquishers ==> 10 libs -3 annihilators ==> 3 Ruinators & family -Chariot ==> Prosecutors -Vexillor ==> Axe hero
  6. I feel the point is that banishing them or killing them cost resources. In particular, one shouldn't underestimate what doing 6 damages means (i.e. more than what a chaff units with 10 attacks on 3+/3+/-1/1 will do on average). Are you using a mid-sized hammer or multiple units to kill a spell which can be recast next turn (whether it's your turn or you opponent)? What about 2 or 3 of them? As for not having them not being a big disadvantage: maybe. The point remains that if you don't buy a box of these you're playing with less rules. It is as if you needed to have spell cards in order to access your faction lore. It's not the end of the world (proxying, kitbashing, 3d printing etc) but playing a "standard" game just became (a bit) more expensive for new players
  7. good point. Somehow, I keep forgetting that the Knight Arcanum exists. really that mask gives them Kaiser Soze-like qualities!
  8. Based on your previous posts, I can understand where this is coming from: you have been disappointed in the past and you feel an obligation to warn other people so that they will not experience the same negative feelings. However, personally, I think this sometimes veers into cynicism and does not allow space for more hopeful futures. Again, I am not saying you're wrong, future might well prove you to be right (and the second part of your post surely feels realistic), but in the end you don't know. Here you write "unavoidable", so 100% probability. Maybe you can allow for, say 10% of chance it goes better? 5% chance that it goes way better? In the end, while being "disappointed" is a negative, not allowing yourself to be happy in the present because of fear of disappointement is also a negative. If we had to formalise it, as long as the total amount of happiness someone draws from being presently excited about TOW is bigger than the future amount of sadness for its demise (multiplied for the likelihood thereof), being hyped is the rational choice.
  9. Maybe the Reclusians count for 5 models (because of the human squires) and that's it, or at least they count for 1 SCE-sized model, so we'd only get some sort of Knight caster as you mention -which is kind of needed anyway after losing all the Sacrosanct wizards.
  10. considering how hugely impactful "-1d6 for charging" would be, I hope we never see that ability (terrible memories of the old Khorne Daemon prince). also I feel like this ability further pushes towards building deathstar units (usual disclaimer applies, we don't know the full rules etc)
  11. it's already the special weapon of choice for javelin prosecutors ("Stormsurge Trident")
  12. maybe I am missing some nuance between adding a dice and rolling 3d6, but they already had the same rule. As for the minis, I am not a fan of the tactical columns in general, other than that Prosecutors are a cool concept and these are a nice improvement.
  13. Perfectly fair -I even share the sentiment. You'll notice however that I didn't say "the double turn is problematic" but that it has problematic aspects (for instance, for a subset of new and/or casual players). 1) game designers think that the double turn needs to be balanced by something 2) The game designers provide narrative a casual game modes where that something is absent 3) narrative and casual game modes get the more unbalanced version of the double turn. So, my point was that linking the balancing mechanic of the double turn to the battle tactics seems a strange choice. I feel that those who don't like playing with battle tactics and those who don't like the double turn might overlap to a relatively large degree.
  14. To each their own I guess. If you want to buy 3d prints (because you like the minis not because you want to save money) and don't have a 3d printer yourself (or a friend with one) I'd say test buying before placing larger orders is a good option. How would you proceed? Tbh, I don't think your example with the phone really works, it would be more like: before buying the phone from a shop you don't know, maybe order something cheaper and see if they deliver, or something like that. PS: my point is not to defend the 3d printing business, let alone saying that GW is doomed. Just giving advice based on my experience
  15. Or you do a test order of a couple of minis before placing a large order
  16. The paradox being that now (not) scoring a battle tactic is the main balancing mechanic for double turns. So if you decide to play without them, you've increased the problematic aspects of the double turn
  17. Interestingly, the article on magic didn't even mention the word "module". So maybe the rule for using magic and prayers is part of the core rules, and only (say) spell lores are part of the advanced module. You could then solve the situation by giving the wizards and priests in Spearhead boxes a different warscroll with a spell/prayer on it (we have seen Nagash has one so the concept of warscroll spell still exists). This seems more likely than not having a single wizard/priest across all spearhead boxes.
  18. agreed. With the first unit we were shown starting from a 3+ with two ways to get +1 (AoD and SCE Finest Hour) my bet would be for the level of MWs to remain more or less unchanged -although, it could still be less prevalent in shooting and moved to spell for instance.
  19. Maybe it's because there's very few changes? Are we expecting anything major? (apart from what we know already, no shooting if you're in melee, which is big but already "spoiled")
  20. +1 I see games not managing to finish the full 5 turns in 3 hours in tournaments around here all the time. At the club it goes for much longer than that (one of the reasons why I don't like AoS in "casual" settings)
  21. Yes there's a rumour... coming out of a random 4chan post... Which ends with "my father works at Nintendo". It says a lot about the level of the debate really. The past few days made me feel so happy that AoS, for all it's flaws, is not saddled with with the "boys club" lore.
  22. yeah, same for the removed Stormcast units
  23. It's a nice thought, but I cannot fail to notice that, even before the official announcement of the removal, Bonesplitterz were completely ignored by battlescolls for quite a while. My expectation is a very minimal effort for both the indexes and the updating thereof (unless there's something completely out of whack there)
  24. I think if you were to put them in the present game they would be pointed as they are already -they get potential ASF and better rend if charged but lose mortals on 6s- and would rarely see play because they are not the cheapest battleline.
  25. Exactly, we even have the Fight ability to reference, which clearly shows that "picking a target" is part of the declaration, whereas resolving attacks is part of the effect.
