Sure. Posted this some time ago, still works.

If we take rend into account it's reapers > letters/reavers (have fun positioning them) > crushers charge > mongers >  dogs > warriors.  StD falls behind.

Not adjusted by points, so I suspect mongers may actually be the best since they are the most cost-effective unit in Khorne.

Thanks Smooth this is exactly the sort of cheat sheet I needed. Now to paint the remainder for Blood and Glory. Think I'll go mongers taking everything on board and dogs for cheap summons.

Is consensus to run units MSU or in bigger blobs? I can see MSU being better for tithe points and bigger blobs for buff efficiency.

I'll report back about the warm-up tourny (1st time with army changed from FEC) and see what needs changing for B&G

No, this is per combat phase.

You can just say that wiped out unit of warriors gets to attack a second time.

Warriors deal 1mw per 2 dead warriors approximately against no rend.

Mongers deal 1mw per 1 dead on average to heroes, 1.3mw to units (so 10 mongers deal 13) .

The only notable thing about warriors vs. other stuff is that warriors get 50% more damage from a bloodsecrator/monger buff while dogs/mongers get only 25%. That changes math a bit, but they are still at the bottom of damage dealer food chain in Khorne.

So @Smooth criminal with this do you have a tier list of damage output for non character units versus' 4+ save unbuffed?

I looked through warscrolls and did a basic list and these were the frontrunners but maybe I am missing something.

    Thanks for that @AresX8

    Unbuffed against 4+
    10 dogs ~6-7w
    20 warriors ~8w
    10 mongers ~8-9w, ~12w with charge
Each buff adds 15-50% depending on buff and unit

Varanguard have terrible combat math and you can't mark them for buffs.
    Same for splinterfangs.

Thanks for this, between dogs and mongers then.

Does this maths include likely mortal wound output of the mongers/warriors?

Spells and prayers are entirely different things. Prayers are basicly normal abilities. They aren't casted, can't get unbound by wizards and things that affect spells don't affect prayers.

It should be possible because the Chaos Lord on Manticore can get the Khorne Keyword.

In case of the Artefact, you need at least 1 hero who takes the "Thronebreaker's Torc" which is not the Chaos Lord of Manticore in that case and to take the sword of judgement you need an Battalion (so you get a second artefact)

So I thought that prayers might be different that is good to know so I am unaffected.

As for the Chaos lord artefacts I am running Gore Pilgrims with Goretide so the Torc is going on my Bloodsecrator or Mighty Khorne Lord.

So this would be my second artefact allowed going on my Chaos Lord, does that make it legal?

  5. Hi everyone got my first tourny with my new army this weekend and after a quick Google search and FAQ read I'm struggling to find the answer to these;

    1) Does loathsome sorcery bubble affect my slaughter priests casting their prays?

    - I've read online about reroll casts cancelling each other out and that unmodified rolls can fail and then pass etc but I don't see this written in the warscroll that helps explain it affecting your spells.

1b) Following on from this if I am successful with my cast I then HAVE to reroll before they cast an unbind?

    2) Can a Chaos Lord on Manticore be the general for a Goretide list and take 'hew the foe'?

    - Azyr doesn't seem to allow me to do this and I want to run him with sword of judgement

    Thanks for all your answers

  6. Hi again does anyone have any math hammer for Khorne units? I'm trying to compare which of these units is 'better' Vs 4+ save units for my goretide list. Any help appreciated.

(not looking for any other suggestions just these below)

    10 Flesh hounds

    20 Blood warriors

    10 Wrathmongers

    3 Varanguard (allied in)

    20 Splinterfang (allied in)

I was thinking of using ungors with some head and weapon swaps as the marauders, as I'm going for more of a general mixed chaos rather than focusing on one type. Thoughts?

I think that sounds amazing. If you are doing StD you are doing it for the rule of cool!

Do some pic uploads once you've done the kitbash.

Using the Warcry Warbands is one way to go.

If you are sure you go with a certain Mark of Chaos, you could use Zombies as Nurgle Ones, Blood Reavers of Khorne as "Count as" Khorne marked Marauders, same for Tzeentch with Kairic Acolythes. Later ones can be also converted easily in Slaaneshi ones I belive.

This is what I'm doing with Knights, warriors I have. I am mixing StD, Khorne & Warcry models.

Running straight StD I do strictly for small battles and narrative reasons playing friends.

I am also getting Archaon and some Varanguard because as a GK player from 40k I'm a glutton for punishment 😂😂🤟🤟 and I love the models.

It will be my first year at Blood and Glory just creating the discussion so anyone who's going can post maybe get to know a few people before going up. Also for us newbs to B+G can ask the old Vets any question. Also bit of banter is always fun.

Me and my friend will be attending for the first time as well!

Honestwargamer and here have convinced us to go to our first non GW one and this seemed perfect.

Now to finish my army 😂😂

  10. So buying a bloodthirster today and wondering which of one would go best into mortal themed list as a stand alone model for a local tourny.

If there is no real benefit I'll just go rule of cool!

**When I finish my army mentioned previously in this thread it will most likely be used as summons.

The "best" (and arguably only) way to run it, is to use Grand Alliance Chaos.

If you read through this thread, you should already be aware that you cannot mix Khorne allegiance and Bloodmarked (in short, battalions and all units that are encompassed by them count as allies unless the battalion itself has the faction keyword).

You could technically run Everchosen allegiance, but there is just no merit in doing so (except if you really want those Varanguard battlelines).

With GA:Chaos, you will have a lot more freedom regarding your battleline and units. You pretty much build your Bloodmarked Warbrand and then staple Archaon onto it.

Thanks I did see that opinion earlier in the thread. I think the confusion comes from the apps.

One question regarding that point is in Azyr under Grand Chaos Alliance it does not give me the warscroll battalion option to add "Bloodmarked Warband" can I still use it in matched play?

Running a Khorne army is so much easier just have a urge to run this against my friends 😂😂

    @Agent of Chaos save me!

  12. Hey all, can anyone help me get my head around how to run a bloodmarked warband with Archaon. I've looked through this thread and see some mentions and looked on Google but on Azyr and Battlescribe it seems to always want me to run Varanguard as battleline (which I don't want/have).

I own/will own Archaon, 30 bloodreavers, 15 Chaos Warriors, 10 Chaos knights, Lord on Juggernaut, Lord on Manticore, 1 Gore Chariot, 1 Warshrine.

I know it's not optimal just looking to run it in matched play rules in my local scene and I don't want to run an illegal list.

Thanks in advance for any answers!

Sounds quite good to me. Bloodthirsters seem never to be a wrong choice currently :)

Sounds like a great project :D The ones who start StD althrough they know they will be doomed are the best ones :D

    A) Gore Pilgrims Provide you only a Range Increase to the Banner. As it can run in the current Edition, it is not entirely necessary. The +1CP and Artifact are fine nevertheless. If you are on a Budget, the "cheap" SC!-Box delivers you almost anything required for this battion. In this case: Go for it.

B)What exactly do you expect from a dumpster fire?

    C) Well, as you plan to use a Lord on Manticore, playing Gorepilgrims is an Idea. It can be used with a Gorecleaver to do some really evil damage on your oponent. Lance and Blade is quite a Glasscannon-Build you should be aware of. I had a lot of bad luck with mine due to a lot of failed rolls, yet I think it is a quite fun choice. Chaos Knights are great fans of the Bloodsecrator Buff. I would recommend to play them with a Lord on Daemonic Mount. This would be even more important than the Juggerlord, althrough you could also just use the model with both profiles because...well, it is technically a Lord on Daemonic Mount, huh? Together with a Secrator, Glaives, a Bloodstroker and 2x the Command Ability from the Lord on d. Mount you get 3 Attacks on 2+,3+ Rerollable, -1 Rend and 2 Dmg on the Charge, with +3" for the Charge.

    D) Yeah, see abote in my answer to Darrin: Bloodthirsters are always worth concidering.

So budget is not an issue and I think you have sussed out my playstyle already 😆😆.

I bought StD purely for the love of the mortal models and I know I am already stacking the dice against me even including the models I have.

Dumpster fire to me is a army that is not synergistic, no buffs work. Have a key missing element either damage or objectives or being too static. Like fundamentally flawed. I know nothing about Khorne and the way to run them.

All your info is great, I do prefer glass cannon just because when the highs come its awesome, the lows are well they come whatever you do 😆.

Mounted alpha strike with Archaon/Lord troops second wave sounds good with the option of obj holding at the back if needs be.

It's possible since my meta is not as diverse as I would hope and most don't have much when it comes to armies. I am traveling 2+ hours for this tournament so I am hoping to learn more about other armies and their composition. Reading and watching battle reports can only get me so far 😂.

I'll take a look at some larger tournaments. I know I looked at ETC lists though they were all post FAQs. What are some good tournaments to look at?

I think it will help, I learnt so much at the GW tournament and losing really does help alot and playing against as many armies as possible.

I tend to follow alot of players on Twitter. Such as Dan from AoS shorts and listen to the honestgamer podcast. They highlight alot of lists and what's doing well at the moment.

  15. 31 minutes ago, Finklelord said:

The real thing I lack is survivability and staying in the late game. My typical opponents tend to bring high damage units (like Hunters) and I tend to over extend my units. I've tried to stop this by being fast and keep all my models in range for their additional save. My other problem is pitting units that shouldn't be against each other. Like Flayers should against higher armored units and Horrors against hordes.

I hate to admit it, but in the dozen or so games I played I haven't really lost. By no means have I swept the table every game as I normally run out of fuel turn 2 or get double turned an can't bring back models. The end of the month I am going to a tournament with unknown meta so I am kinda hoping to lose and learn a few things.

Do you think that as you experience a wider meta and maybe tougher opponents at tournament's your ability to play FEC better will improve without having to massively adjust your list?

I think looking at recent big UK/US tournament lists will give you a good idea of what is happening in a wider sense.

  16. Howdy fellow skulltakers.

I have some mortals of chaos built (StD) and I want to use them, yup I'm suicidal and as I posted in the past have a project to use Archaon with them (in the build queue).

The reason I am posting is I would like some constructive feedback on the following list, including a large portion of Khorne.

    A) Is gore pilgrims battalions worth it in this list?

    B) Would this list function like a dumpster fire🔥?

    C) Would you change anything (Khorne wise) or add any of the following chaos knights X10, chaos warshrine to the list?

    D) Should I just jam a bloodthirster and call it a day because in the end I'm running mortals 😆

I am starting to get really tempted by archaon as part of a Khorne army. With the buffs available to Khorne mortals and Dawkins he looks like he could be an absolute monster, 2+ save rerolling 1, yes please. Obviously a buff sponge, but then all Khorne monsters are

I bought a godsworn warband and going to do a Khorne/mortal/Archaon list before starting Tzeentch. It might not be the strongest but Archaon model is 😍😍😍

So new Warscrolls are up, i'm interested in The Unmade, they've got a small bravery debuff and stop retreats, but the unit leader has 1"/3/4+/3+/-1/2 which is quite nice for what is essentially a chaff unit.

Call me insane but the Warcry models (The Unmade especially) and the love of the new and old mortal models made me buy the warband box before it gets discontinued (maybe not at full price if you catch my drift).

I look forward to testing out normal StD list jamming some Unmade in there 🤣

Have people converted up an Archregent from Carrion Empire? Got pics?

He's going for like $50 AUD+ on eBay and frankly, no chance I'm buying one at that price.

I used the GK model at a GW event as a Archregent. No complaints. Base had some rocks on it. I've heard and seen people pimp there's with various kit bashes.

If you just want a simple cheap way of doing it. Rock from Starter kit (for dragon) but if green stuff and Ghoul king model next to it 😂

As much as it pains me to say. You could run Feast Day and make the Infernal the General with either Dark Acolyte or Cruel Taskmaster. Then giving the AAR the robe for better spell casting.

Oddly enough my friend also plays Sylvaneth and we have done a doubles as well and will be attending a doubles tournament soon.

I don't know much about Sylvaneth, but I can already see a mini combo.

Spites+Screams work well. We have done it in the past and if your opponent doesn't expect it does wonders. I've always said though never rely on screams (mainly Flayers) to do the heavy lifting. If they get a wound or 3 I am generally happy. I've probably screamed only once or twice in combat though. The enemy never survives long enough!

Just watch out for those forests! They can and will hurt you 😂

You think Feast day is the best way to run it interesting. I thought people would be advocating jamming Gristlegore or Blisterskin.

Not too worried about trees as I will be the hammer as such and he will big down one side with ES and Trees and I will punch a hole where we feel appropriate (plan on paper anyways). Against equally fighty armies plan on zoning and picking off groups with summons.

  21. 7 minutes ago, Finklelord said:

I'm all for Blisterskin and Flayers. Couple of things to help.

    1. Abhorrant needs to have Hellish Orator as his trait as it's required for Blisterskin.

    2. I would give the Eye of Hysh to the Infernal since he is the one going to be with the Flayers and presumably the Terrorgheist. They would both benefit from that rather than someone who would more than likely be sitting on his throne.

    3. Min Flayer squads can be rough. They are much easier to kill than a unit of 6. Your opponent getting the double turn will easily be able to wipe them if not placed properly.

I guess a lot of this hinges on your partners list. Do you know it by chance?

    Just my thoughts!

Oops my bad @Finklelord with the artefact. Yeah makes sense to move that. The min flayers are a risk in that list. I totally know what you mean about 3's from game experience was just trying to get the points to fit for Blisterskin.

Just trying to min/max 1000 points.

After reading the advice from everyone and adjusting for my personal taste in models and fluff (book was amazing) I have decided on this list as a happy middle ground. I will probably finish this and then get a Gaunt Summoner/fatemaster to mix in when I do something different.

This gives me a nice list and an upgrade on where I started.

Wanna say thanks for all the replies and I'll post some project updates as I finish it and I might even see you at a UK event, when it's finished.

your list, after they wrecked the patrol, is very friendly. If you choose to cast an endless spell, you have to „not-cast“ your signature/ lore spells...

Haha yeah I think there was no malice in his list just wanted to try out new stuff and happened to be very strong new Dryca is a machine of range wounds.

I've always been wary of Gristlegore and running it but now I think it might be time to get the savage striking out. We have a doubles tournament later in the year so he will be on my side then 😂😂

  25. Thanks @Asimov and all the other replies have been really helpful. I totally understand the consensus of change host being incredible and the lean towards daemon/magic lists.

I think I will straddle somewhere in between and as you say RoC will most likely sway me towards my favourite models.
