  1. With the new meeting engagements ruleset I bet this GHB will be great for you. Or you could pick up a pack of open war cards and design missions / draw missions based on that. In terms of replay value, I have to agree that maelstrom from 40k just beats out any other mission really imo. Same game can go many many ways.
  2. We can only really expect adjustments to lowering our points. Theres nothing that's inherently broken/op/needs a bump. Many of the meh units need a 10/20/30 PT drop to do some work that is worth it. However it will not fix the general 'nothing is amazong' in the book, unless something is so far changed it becomes spammable. However it's very encouraging they aren't just leaving all the recent books where they are.
  3. Generals handbook next week boys! Exciting stuff! I'm really interested in new missions. Not that I've played at all since the last one, but hopefully that means my first game can be with new missions people haven't got used to yet. On an aside, I painted a MLoK yesterday in around 4-5 hours excluding base using the new contrast paints and a couple highlights afterwards. They are simply fantastic. The flesh is beautiful, the orange is perfect and the black works wonders, making it very easy to do (and get right) unlike it is usually. However I found that you must be very careful with its application on cloaks and loincloths as his big cape went pretty blotchy unfortunately. However the orange on the flesh hound I did is VERY nice. That followed by a drybrush looks amazing, then pick out the details with different colours and the model looks great. I seriously recommend getting to your local store on Saturday early to pick up what you want, because GW is already sold out of many colours and the popular ones will go VERY quickly.
  4. Dayummmmmm man That is one conversion. What did you use? Awesome!
  5. That exalted bloodthirster is a big beefy boy! He's massive! Now all you need to complete the collection is a certain khornate dragon 😉. Speaking of which, I don't think this has been discussed yet, do people think there are any synergies with vorgorath and skalok? (Think that's how to spell it). He slots right into any khorne army, having the bloodhound keyword. However he is 1200 points. The same as skarbrand and his tyrants of blood. Couple slaughterpriests? Hit on 2s, get a 2+ save. Then maybe karanak and all flesh hounds. The amount of damage the dragon can output is just crazy. And it's MASSIVE. like HUGE. Imagnine that getting into your battleline, nuh uh. Cheers guys.
  6. For matched play, I don't really think forbidden power is that good at all. It's not bringing much to the table for khorne at all really, and the relics are for only open/narrative aren't they. No endless spells, we already have a better terrain piece for our army, relics are unusable. Get it if you'd like, I just don't think it's bringing anything for khorne.
  7. I'd be interested if you could walk me through hoe you did this. I've built mine as a WoK but magnetising would be very useful for me, not least as it helps portablity. Is it a case if magnetising the forearm? Cheers
  8. Here's pictures of my finished thirster (taken whilst assembling my next one 😝) Extremely happy with the result, I've put in a lot of work to achieve it. As the first large model I've ever painted, and I'm 15, I'm amazed at myself The orange came out lovely. After the first couple coats of troll slayer, I was getting worried. But after the second coat of fire dragon, a wash and careful highlights I'm very pleased. Decided to go with a very bright orange for the veins- lugganath 70- white 30. Makes them visible for sure. the line highlights on the wings here took... A long time. Looks ok thookh. Really happy with he gradient I managed with the horns, and I nailed eyes for once. I'm a bit eh on the weapon tbh. I painted this way as it's going to amberglaive/ghyrstike so I wanted a relic kind of feel. I'm happy with what I did with the teeth however, more gradient practice! Im very very happy with the base. It's not what I was going for, I wanted a kind of dried up river effect but I think I overdid the blood. Like usual:/. The corkboard banks I will definitely use in the rest of the army. Possibly with my mortal stuff I could get rid of the blood, say it is coming from the daemons, and add a small trickle of a stream? I don't know. It looks pretty nice though. Plenty of drybrush goes a long way. You can't see it too well in either photo of the base, but I'm really happy with the flames I did, and the kind of osl I tried with their glow. Drybrushing and more drybrushing! Does mean that those skulls in the recesses didn't get lit. Which is annoying. I might just wash them red? This will likely be my entry into the everchosen painting competition as well, into the youngbloods category because of my age- I might have a small chance! Hope you like it! Any good/bad feedback appreciated, it's what I need to improve.
  9. I'll upload photos of my bloodthirster tomorrow, as I'm just finishing off its base right now. It's an interesting method I've gone for, hope it works... Overjoyed with how it looks otherwise though, would love to share.
  10. I'd say that the trait only triggers if the unit is destroyed after having its last wounds inflicted by that knights Excelsior unit. Yes it's lackluster, but in terms of khorne, the units that run are still destroyed as they leave the battlefield- the knights, if the last guy runs, haven't actually killed that unit. Does suck lore wise though
  11. Ah yes, of course. Doh! Apologies lordDrakonus if I confused you.
  12. Awesome man I hope you enjoy it! Just a couple things with that specific iteration of quad thirster list- the first being you need to switch from bloodlords skullreapers here is far more crucial because as the list is 100% daemons, every unit is eligible to fight twice. I assure you it will be vital to success, for example used on skarbrand during his first round of combat- a guaranteed 16(!) Mortal wounds is fantastic, and he benefits massively from the second fight. (And, personally, I really like the 'charred limbs' look of the skullreapers with their blackened arms and legs, if you can get a gradient going with stippling or glazing it looks awesome. Also, the general trait + skullreapers relic on the WoK makes him an anti-magic powerhouse. So switch to skullreapers, and give the WoK the compulsory stuff as he takes it well. The two extra battalions net you two more artefacts as well- one for each of the other thirsters. Here is a choice of realm (if you want the best combo with the insensate rage thirster)- do you want to come from realm of life or beasts? As you were looking for a monster mash list, the realm of beasts suits well. So give him the realm only artifact amberglaive for +1 to hit and +1 range on his weapon. This lets him fight over units, and makes him far more reliable as now he always hit 3+rr1s, far more reliable than 4+rr1s. The difference is very tangible, hitting on 4s suuuucks. Now for the second artifact on the unfettered. personally I would go for the one that lets you, at the start of the combat phase, fight on a 4+. This, combined with his pile in ability, and tyrants of blood, means on a 4+(with positioning) you fight before everything else with skarbrand, the insensate and the unfettered without needing to charge (by using the method I outlined in my last post). This opens up some very very potent combos available for the list, without missing out on fighting twice. Again, hope this helps. Enjoy the list! No idea how well it would perform, but definitely fun rushing 4 bloodthirsters. Considering getting it myself actually.... Cheers.
  13. Looks pretty decent for mono daemons I guess, but your lack of +1 attacks here is killer. Thid especially hurts the bloodletters, making them next to useless really (espesh as bloodlords) First thing I'd do, drop myrderhost. Pretty bad for 160 tax for your chaff. Way better options that that, and imo drop the letters too. Then, I'd swap the second insensate for skarbrand OR, probably better, an unfettered. The insensate needs to be hitting on 3s, or be rerolling to hit. WoKBT does this, or put the relic from tyrants on him (ghyrstike or amberglaive, choose a realm) The difference here between bloodlords and skullreapers is pretty crucial. If you do swap for an unfettered, you can pretty much fight at the start anyway by using some clever positioning. Move up to within 6 of the units you want to charge with all three thirsters, and trigger his ability so they can pile into combat. This lets them in effect fight at the start, as there is no combat until after all three have struck as there was noone in combat. Then, as skullreapers, you can fight twice with them too. You definitely NEED a source of +1 attack. A bloodsecrator, wrathmongers, both. Your choice probably ends up with your battleline choice and remaining points, as 2x5 of wrathmongers is much better. After that, a slaughterpriest or two is also crucial. Access to judgements for MWs and board control, MWs himself, buff your units, get to bring free rerolls to pray in the altar. +1 sv on the thirster you need to save or blood warriors or anything for that matter is magnificent, +1 to hit on the insensate is very good. More chances for 6s to wound is lovely. For the third battleline, as hounds are great, personally I would use BWs. They create an anvil for your buffing characters or mongers to hide/fight from behind, and love to die- but are hardy. Bloodletters are supposedly a glass hammer, just like the bloodthirsters are already. So: no murderhost, thus no letters or skulltaker Different thirsters +1 attack Slaughterpriest(s) Battleline other than bloodletters Should then operate very well. However, if you're looking for full daemons, an alternative is to just bumrush with tyrants- unfettered insensate and skarbrand, then a blood hunt with the WoKBT for four
  14. Well when's the GHB coming out? If its around the time of contrast I'm going to be over the moon as that means I can build my force to the GHB and get started painting chaff right away. My bloodthirsters are going to be all done by 'hand' but things like hounds and bloodletters are going to LOVE contrast On that note, what feasible changes are you expecting to see for khorne? I don't think many apart from some cost decreases for a handful of units- but which units?
  15. Hiya guys, I'm looking for some feedback on my list again. I'm getting back into SCE after soul wars last year (got sidetracked by 40k) and have made a list that is only £30 more stuff I need. I'm using celestial vindicators because I think they're cool, and my dudes are painted in quite a grimdark colour scheme - dark, weathered steel all over with spots of gold, and glowing blue power. Easy to paint, looks decent too👍. I guess I'd be up to switching to another stormhost but I'm not about to buy £100+ of characters and units, I'm using what I've got. Vindicators Arcanum on gryph, general + relic vindicators. Azryite halo. 240 (can swap to a foot dude, made one with my spare evocator.) (Could drop to foot, drop shackles + CP and take an incantor too) Castellant. 100 Ordinator. 140 4 ballistas 400 (could drop one to switch up a bit, saves me some cash too) 20 sequitors 400 2x5 sequitors 240 2x5 evocators Extra CP and shackles. The only other options to swap stuff is for libs and other endless spells (+incantor) I've got some paladins even though they aren't great. I've got relictor etc stuff from old old box. What do you guys think? Do I really need to switch to anvils? My place is definitely not very competitive. Edit- I just remembered I wanted to ask- how do I make the ballistas more accurate? Ordinator obviously, but I head people here having them hit on 2+s. Just can't remember how. Cheers
  16. What about a blood hunt at 1500? It's not the greatest battalion of all time by any means, but more than it seems fun fluffy & fast. I was thinking: Skullreapers blood hunt: WoK thirster, general, gryph feather charm. 320 Karanak 140 6 bloodcrushers 280 2x5 flesh hounds 200 2x5 wrathmongers/ wrathmongers+ secrator 280 Slaughterpriest with wrathaxe and bronzed flesh for the thirster. That puts out lots of MWs, whil not being the best it looks fun. Just a thought I had during revision had to get it on paper lol.
  17. How crucial are people finding the judgements? Are you wanting to find room for them in every list you make, or are they a bit meh, and they're nice to have if there's a few points going spare? The wrath axe seems just brutal, but at 60 points I'm finding it hard to stick on the end of many of my lists. Thoughts?
  18. I'd drop that 4th ballista. Then you've got 180 points. Then can buy you 3 more longstrikes, a much better target for anvils cmd ability in a squad of 9. I've noticed you've not gone anvils? Do that. However you could clump up those sequitors and take more judicators for even more of an emphasis on shooting. At that point, with a 20 blob, you can't go wrong with a lord castellant. He'll make that unit a FANTASTIC screen for all your shooting behind it, as well as it being more than a bit killy. Maybe get rid of incantor? Looks good however though.
  19. Are you running tyrants of blood then? I'm really interested as to how they're working for people, I'm slowly building up a list for them. What is your list? What thirsters are you using? Battleline? If you've got some battle reports, (even of those that went completely sideways) I'd love to hear them.
  20. https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/AoSFPScenery-May17-PenumbralFunction11ux.jpg So how useful do we reckon this is for us? If it costs nothing and we get it ON TOP of the altar, I don't see the reason to not take it really. It does affect enemies which could be as much of a problem as it provides a buff. However wholly within 12 might be difficult for enemies to get into, if we are clever with positioning. What do we think?
  21. People asking for new BWs sprues seems like a bit of wishful thinking imo. The models are perfect, but we're just different to some other units on special weapons. All that needs to be done for BWs is make them 80 or 90. Then they'll be just fineee
  22. Looks super solid. Really like the sound of this list. Why not go all in, drop the skulls+ thirster down to an insensate rage then get 20 BW's. The extra bloodglaive is huge.
  23. Ah, but skarbrand. On his own does a guaranteed 8 mortal wounds per attack with carnage if not in combat last round. If he rolls a 6 it doubles. You can assume that he has a bloodsecrator buff, otherwise it is badly positioned. So that's 16 guaranteed MW, adding 8 for every 6. Then he piles in and immediately strikes again. Average of 32 +(4/6 X 8) = 37.3MWs, and that's not accounting for his 20 other 4+2+ -2 3dmg attacks. Yeah, he's a beast. But a beast with a 10" no fly move and 16 wounds with a 4+ save for 400 points. Shoot and magic off the board. (Although then the other two come smash face instead😉)
  24. Hey guys just realized my post kind of got lost at the end of the last page, and I'd really like people to give their opinions on what makes a bombass competitive stormcast list and how I can make one. Cheers.
