  1. I agree. I don’t see anything “new” at all. Other than the forced terrain piece to be able to “do” what gorepilgrims did. And the judgements that are kind of cool. But come with a price tag forcing you to drop a priest or something of the like. I’ve been seeing some talks of goretide. But I feel like it’ll be more of the same old battalions used in the previous book. But again I think collectively people are trying to be positive. But inevitably fall back to the same conclusion that this tome has mostly side steps. But we just need to get out there and play!
  2. well ok, gotcha thanks. so whats a better artefact giving +1 to hit to a Bloodthirster?
  3. hmm thats a shame. well you still have a potential 7 dice rolling to wound. so anything BUT a 1 is D6 wounds with -2 rend.. seems overkill either way. which is funny because on skarbrands warscroll it states "if the roll is equal to or greater then the carnage value on the table above" this would mean if he was at his most dangerous state at 1 hitpoint or out of combat for a phase and being considered to have one hitpoint. on his chart it says "Carnage 1+" so if you roll a natural 1 his carnage doesnt go off? Even though it states "equal to or greater than" the roll...
  4. why do you automatically fail any natural roll of 1 on a wound? if your wounding on 1+ its auto hit, no? and your still getting the +1 from ghyrstrike to hit since hes naturally 4+ hit making him 3+ then you killing frenzy him making him 2+
  5. which is a shame, but most effective re rolling all wounds now. making blood warriors much better on that 4+ wound roll.
  6. on a side note i'm going to use the reapers command trait with ghyrstrike in my gorepilgrims army with the Blood thirster of Insensate Rage. giving him double attacks from the command ability +1hit +1wound (artefact) re rolling 1's to hit (locus), +2 attacks from the bloodsecrator and wrathmongers.. Eeeeek Oh and i forgot -2 Rend on this!! That's a potential 7 attacks doing D6 damage twice using the command ability. There's literally nothing that can compare to that in the new battletome. aside from skarbrand dishing out 16 MW (on a roll of 6) if hes stayed out of combat until round 2. and then buffed with +2 attacks from Bloodsecrator and Wrathmongers. giving carnage potential 3x 16 MW (if 6's are rolled). 3x 8 mortal wound auto (on a 1+ roll if hes stayed out of combat) SMASH!
  7. I was thinking this aswell for the reapers command ability, its just brutal. But if you go for the Halo you essentially auto attack first with all three every combat phase your 3" within enemy units. BUT if your attacking first anyways, it being your combat phase, the reapers ability leave none alive allows all thirsters with the command ability to attack twice for a possible 6 attacks (burning 3CP though). and i would give the Bloodthirster insensate rage the Ghyrstrike giving him +1hit+1wound to his axe, and if you can killing frenzy him with a priest hes now hitting on 2+ re rolling 1's (Locus) and wounding on a 1+!! so its almost auto damage (unless you roll all ones twice) and if you get those 6's, Thats some devastation. 5 attacks doing D6 damage with potential outrageous carnage ontop. and then you still have skarbrand or two other thirsters following up this crazy amount of attacks. Goodbye shiny Evocator unit.
  8. Isn't it any model in the battalion? so you attack with first blood thirster that has the halo of blood, then the next thirster in the battalion and then the third. since all models are from the battalion "After a model in this battalion has fought in the combat phase, for the first time, you can pick another model from this battalion that has not yet fought that’s within 3” of range of an enemy model and fight before your opponent" i believe is the wording. i don't have the battletome. so i'm just going from what ive read. i made a tyrants list a page back. which i think is pretty bad ass just need to grab two more thirsters and im going to be playing it. using pilgrims or goretide for now until i get new models.
  9. How's this for a Tyrants of Blood list? blood warriors and blood letters to hold objectives. You have your priest using the axe judgement and buffing the BIR using killing frenzy (+1hit) and the artefact ghyrstrike (+1wound +1hit) to give him 2+hit 1+ wound and re rolling 1's to hit with the greater demon locus. The WoKBT attacks first in combat phase with Halo of blood from the slaughterhost then your BIR then Skarbrand from the Tyrants of blood battalion (as long as within 3" from a unit). keeping one thirster around the bloodletters for the Locus. and all daemons receive the ability slay the mighty to re roll wounds on 1 to heros and monsters. I'm a big newb to this game only played with gorepilgrims pre the new battletome. So this will force me to buy new models but it seems like a solid and fun list. i also have a revamped pilgrims list i will post. cheers Allegiance: Khorne LEADERS Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage (280) - General - Artefact - Ghyrstrike (+1 hit +1 wound to axe) - Command Trait - Slaughterers thirst (+4” move, reroll charges) - Ability - Slay the Mighty (reroll wound rolls of 1 made by friendly Bloodlords Daemon units that target a Hero or Monster) Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster (320) - Artefact - Halo of Blood (bearer fights first start of combat phase) - Ability - Slay the Mighty (reroll wound rolls of 1 made by friendly Bloodlords Daemon units that target a Hero or Monster) Skarbrand (400) - Ability - Slay the Mighty (reroll wound rolls of 1 made by friendly Bloodlords Daemon units that target a Hero or Monster) Slaughterpriest (100) - Blood Blessing : Killing Frenzy - Judgements of Khorne : Wrath Axe (60) UNITS 10 x Blood Warriors (200) - Goreaxe & Gorefist - Goreglaive - Banner 10 x Blood Warriors (200) - Goreaxe & Gorefist – Goreglaive - Banner 30 x Bloodletters (300) - Gore Drenched Icon - Blood Soaked Banner - Ability - Slay the Mighty (reroll wound rolls of 1 made by friendly Bloodlords Daemon units that target a Hero or Monster) BATTALIONS Tyrants of Blood (140) SLAUGHTERHOST Blood Lords TOTAL: 2000/2000
  10. I think we need to include a bloodthirster in every army. I play against stormcast and evocators are the most overpowered thing I have to face every time. Having 10 to 15 drop and charge into whatever the player wants with 3/3 doing 2 damage per model then 2 dice per model in unit doing mortal wounds on a 4+ To any unit he chooses within 3”. A block of 10 evocators can smash anything it seems. The only tool I had to put a dent in them was my bloodthirster and slaughterpriest casting blood boil. Anything they charge with a full unit just crumbles.. This was pre the new battle tome using gorepilgrims, 3 priests, WoKBT, stoker, 30 bloodletters, 20 blood warriors, 10 reavers, 5 wrathmongers I believe was my army. Hammers of Sigmar sequidors are such a pain. All my blood warriors. Reavers. Mongers and bloodletters eventually fell to two 10 man units and his heroes using support and whatever buffs, while I was holding objectives. He can just change stances at the beginning of every combat phase. They can re roll failed defensive rolls with Certain buffs. I had so many wounds go through with my fully buffed blood letters and bloodwarriors. And with all those defensive rolls I couldn’t kill anymore than one or two models at a time. And when I killed off a unit he just brought it back with his hammers of Sigmar ability. My bloodthirster, priests and secrator eventually fell while fighting the evocators. I had a blood warrior screen that got obliterated by mortal wounds. He could roll 20 dice after his initial attacks doing MW on a 4+. It’s just devastating... It was a tight game and I lost by 2 command points. But I had essentially nothing left by the end of the game. One lonely bloodthirster I summoned to hold an an objective. But he held the board at that point. Bloodreavers are like papermache. He never put any of his hero’s against my mongers. So they just buffed his units aswell as mine. And I couldn’t get them into the fray because I had so many other units in their way... So yeah I don’t see how with the new battle tome we gained anything to even deal with these kinds of high defensive units like sequidors. The sheer amount of attacks from evocators. The only thing I can see that will be “meta” is straight up tyrants of blood with 3 bloodthirsters and the slaughterhost with halo of blood or reapers vengeance allowing your bloodthirsters to attack first and using command points with leave none alive to pile in and attack twice. The judgements are cool and I’m going to try them out. But I don’t see what other tool we have to do straight up damage besides the bloodthirsters. Skarbrand could do some amazing things. Bloodwarriors with the gorefists are pretty sweet now. The wrathmongers are essentially mini bloodsecrators. The reapers seem decent but don’t compare to evocators at all.. I don’t get why they just shifted the paradigm of power. Now we’re just praying to Khorne to win our battles for us I guess. Instead of straight up fighting to the last breath in mortal combat hand to hand with worthy foes. I guess we will just have a lot of trial and error.
  11. Bloodstoker should probably be in there to re roll wounds. And his charge and run bonus when needed.
  12. Skarbrand bloodthirster insensate rage (general) slaughterhost reapers vengeance taking all command trait/ability artifacts etc bloodsecrator with banner or rage bloodstoker slauggterpriest with killing frenzy skull altar 10x bloodwarriors x2 with gorefists 5x wrathmongers x2 30x bloodletters I believe this leaves 40 leftover to take the bleeding icon of Khorne for your judgement my thoughts Have Skarbrand and your bloodthirster pal around with your 30 blood letters and 5 wrathmongers. Giving your greater demon locus to the bloodletters wholly within 16”. Also their 20+ in unit locus. wrathmongers giving the units wholly within +1 attack. You have your potential of double attacking with the bloodthirster using the command ability leave none alive. And he can now unbind spells with the artifact he’s given. Hopefully keep Skarbrand out of battle round 1 and unleashed mortal wounds round 2. Have your 20 blood warriors being buffed by the wrathmonger wholly within +1 attack. Your bloodsecrator buffing wholly within +1 attack and banner of rage re rolling hit rolls of 1. Slaughterpriest casts killing frenzy giving a unit +1 to hit. Bloodstoker whipping one unit to also re roll all wounds. Your blood warrior units now have +2 attack. Re rolling ones. Gorefists to rebound mortal wounds and one unit can re roll all wounds. And one unit can have +1 hit. Also your wrathmongers putting out decent attacks if you can somehow fit everyone in together to make the wholly within buffs and whatnot work. It will be clunky but doable. Then the slaughterpriest brings out your judegment (not great but it’s something) and flinging some mortal wounds with blood boil. I think im going to try this list. Just need to buy the altar. Judgements. More wrathmongers and Skarbrand. Hmmm that’s not expensive at all 🤪 any comments if this would be a decent army? Thanks for reading!
  13. This is what I was thinking. Most haven’t realized that even if the rend voids your ability to block the damage. You can still on a 6 return a mortal wound. Seems much more valuable to return a mortal wound instead of the chance of re rolling a 1 on hit and then rolling a potential wound. Although this also makes me wonder that maybe small 5 man groups is best for reverberating damage. To get the most out of the ability to return damage via multiple units.
  14. Skarbrand Bloodthirster IR (general) slaughterpriest skull altar bloodstoker bloodsecrator 2 x 5 wrathmongers 2 x 10 bloodwarriors 30 x bloodletters slaughterhost reapers vengeance this may be a fun and devastating list. No gorepilgrims to increase the rage of Khorne from bloodsecrator but the slaughterhost allowing BIR to attack twice. And Skarbrands mortalwound output. Plus your screens of bloodwarriors and bloodletters being buffed by the wrathmongers. And if your bloodthirsters are kept close to the buffs. all for 1960 points. Is this viable without a battalion?
  15. Also a question on this. If you make him your general and give him devastating blow is that a further 16 auto mortal wounds on a 6? Due to that being his weapons damage characteristics. It’s purely overkill. But would be great to see this devastation. And if ever not buffed with extra attacks. You get that 1 godly 6 and it’s 16x2 mortal wounds. Good bye shiny mortals. And to further add to this later in the game with the new bloodtithe ability slaughter triumphant. Would that rare 6 on the second attack generated also be a potential 16 mortal wounds?
  16. Seems like Skarbrand is going to be the biggest Mortal wound generator. 3 attacks with carnage if wholly within the range of bloodsecrator and wrathmongers. Keep him out of combat round one. Then he’s in Rage round 2. On a 1+ that’s an auto 24 mortal wounds with potential of being double that on 6’s with Carnage.. also with re rolling charges. High probability to get him into combat. And if for some reason that doesn’t crunch what you threw him at you’ve still got slaughter with 11 attacks and rend -2.
