  1. Do the math on Seraphon. Isn't it similar? Also, the Tomb Kings one with Necrosphinx, King (from sphinx kit), and 10 Tomb Guard is a savings and those are all newer, larger, great models. Oh, wait.
  2. I'd be ok with that. They pretty much already are just a type of beastman, and my Skirmish warband uses them as the fodder troops to support my blight kings and drones.
  3. Hmm. It looks like I just am in a different place than you. For me, a set of very inexpensive physical books that contain all the rules for all my stuff (or damn close) and some good painting references made them highly valuable to me. I still use them regularly, including for Skirmish. The Generals Handbook did nothing to diminish them either, since the game I bought when the GA books came out is still the game, or one aspect of it anyway. The GH provides some alt structure for different styles of play, but that doesn't mean I cannot still take what I want in a game, even stuff from different GA books if I want. I find the GA/Original-Early AoS experience to be fantastic - still. I have no issue building forces from them. In fact, for me, the GH and the newer Battletomes are the downer. Don't get me wrong, they are neat and I am glad they exist, but they complicate the game needlessly and drag far too many good people who were growing as hobbyists and opponents back to a Dark Age of The One True Way to Play. It's disheartening.
  4. I'm curious. What would that be? Cuz from where I'm sitting, the GA books are pretty darn good.
  5. I am also thinking bent knee. Something crouching or going all Crane Style.
  6. A thought - maybe they are so expensive because of some impending rule change in GHB2 that we don't know about yet.
  7. Skaven weapon teams, especially autohit warpfire, are like artillery.
  8. They sure SELL their space marines over there. ☺
  9. Do you have to make "armies?" Can't you just bring a few of these, a bit of that?
  10. Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
  11. Like the top of a saddle for a morghast that rides a super-dread abyssal.
  12. It's kinda a bummer for me when I read stuff like that. Not directed at you specifically, but folks seem to have so completely moved their minds over to the post -GHB state of "armies" that they forget that a primary joy of AoS, as sold since Day 1, is exactly the thing you wish you had - and already do - the ability to plop down a few orcs or Khorne guys and have a game. AoS was built to do this. Only the "Must make 2000 point Matched Play armies" mentality prevents you from doing what you express a desire to do. That said, a small two-player box would be sweet. ☺
  13. I just read the FAQ. Holy smokes the tone and approach are refreshing! The question "Why should I trust you" alone speaks volumes. Nice job, GW.
  14. WHOOO HOOOOO! Soooooooooooo glad I learned the lesson that End Times taught and resisted buying all that cool Magnus related stuff and the 3 Storm books. I feel so vindicated! And, also, yay - I really want a new 40K so I play my Necrons again.
  15. Well, they can do it, but it would be really, really poopy of them. @others They mandated base size in 3rd ed. I miss that. A lot.
  16. Announce now, release in 4 weeks. Seems about right to me. I'm sticking to 40K as the news. Happy to be wrong and get Skavedeathnesh Battletome.
  17. Agreed. The mat I want is a UK import and would cost over $100 to get. I'd rather have a proper option from my local shop.
  18. What did the Spire of Dawn rebox come with for bases?
  19. Sorta. That's a natural consequence of all this. They could have stayed in squares, but they didn't. They are at the very lest implying a change is in the offing. The largest US event, one endorsed strongly by GW, has declared that rounds are required next year. GW is taking a soft approach, but the tea leaves say rounds are a comin". If that's the case, and their own events are going base to base, it's easy to add up that the game is moving to a "bases matter in some ways" state. If so, then yes, one should consider not ding anything too fancy with bases. Edit - 3rd ed reference was to WFB, bit 40K.
  20. I would go a step further and say that of they require bases to base, they are obligated to mandate base sizes. @Auticus 3rd ed had mandated, listed bases for all models. It sucked when that went away. I would superlike this if I could.
