  1. Had a question on the new reinforcement rules: If a double reinforced battleline unit counts as two units for army composition... where do we find the limit on number of reinforced units? Have looked again but just don’t see it mentioned anywhere, maybe I’m going blind.

  2. Do we know yet if the new SCE models represent a newly opened chamber or just new units within the existing chambers? So the new spear guys (Vindicators) could be say Redeemer Conclave guys with new armor or the Redeemer Conclave specific to, idk, Devastation Chamber?

edit: please tag me if someone replies to this. This board is moving too quick with the new edition info so I have trouble scrolling through multiple pages trying to find answers to queries.

  3. I’ve seen people mention on the forums that the Lord Castellant’s buff no longer heals on save rolls of 7+; this hasn’t been changed in the AoS app and I didn’t see it in my FAQ. Can someone tell me where this was updated? Maybe my FAQ is out of date.

  4. Hey all, had a question that’s a mix of lore and logic theorycraft. You have three Lord Celestants: classic on foot, on dracoth, and Gavriel (let’s assume he’s a generic Lord Celestant with alternate load out rather than named). They each lead a strike chamber of some generic, unnamed storm host but what type of strike chamber do you see them leading?

An alternative way of looking at the same question would be which of the available LC types do you see as the iconic or standard leader of each of the three strike chambers? I’m not concerned about gameplay/meta in this question but more about which seems like a more logical/natural fit for each.

  5.      I completely missed on my pledge this month. My pace started out well enough but then the new computer arrived and everything else... kinda fell to the wayside. I didn’t even remember what I had pledged and needed  to look at my previous post, but I did get everything built I just didn’t finish painting before I got sidetracked with 3D printing.

Here is a progress  pic of the Undivided guys made up of Be’lakor, four Warriors, two forsaken, and two kitbashed chosen. Be’lakor is the only one I actually finished but I thought I only had the bones/skulls/horns left on the rest. Looking at them now I realize I have a lot more to do. Also managed to do some kitbashing to create one marked warrior and forsaken for each of the gods plus a Khorne Marked chosen.

I will make an attempt at a better photo when I finish painting them but for now I guess this one will end up being my January or February pledge instead... Hope I’m back at it and finish them by then anyways lol

  6.      Again my pledge is all for board gaming but I pledge to build a small assortment of Chaos Forces for Chaos Undivided plus Khorne and then to get the Undivided guys painted. In total building about ~11 Chaos Warriors, 7 Forsaken, 2 kitbashed Chosen, 3 Furies, Garrek’s Reavers, Magore’s Fiends, 2 bloodletters, and a few Frostgrave Cultists if I can’t find any better options.
Stretch goals would be to get the Khorne guys painted up and then deciding on some Tzeetnch guys to build. But they may get pushed back if my new computer comes in so I can get some 3D prints completed. And everything else can be pushed back in order to finish my Tzeentchian Prince if I can find the bits I need and paint him.

  7.      I’ve booked myself for two mythic level pledges (the second is for one of my kids who wants her own copy) but I highly doubt they’ll hit all their stretch goals (especially these last five which were added earlier this week). I’m mostly buying for the nostalgia factor and the great looking 3D renders and hope the physical products look as great as those renders. Like many/most others, Heroquest was my gateway drug into gaming and the root cause of my wallets’ repeated plastic induced beatings.

I'm remaining cautiously optimistic about these, but will probably buy them one at a time instead of all of them at once. Warcry is my main game at this point, so any new content is good for me, but I worry about a potential "good stuff war band" list...

Take away the optimum and you’ll have my general stance. I really enjoy Warcry, which is my primary game right now, and liked that little niche it held between Necromuda and Kill Team. I also really enjoyed Kill Team when it first came out and still think it’s a wonderful game, but everyone I played with has since moved onto 40k proper and quit playing Kill Team. This left Kill Team as a dead game within my little gaming circle and I’m really hoping these books don’t cause the same thing to happen to Warcry. While I have armies for AoS proper (whereas I have zero interest in building a 40k army) I don’t really want to play larger AoS games and I’m only interested in small, quick skirmish games.

  9.      Hey guys, on my way home earlier this week I stopped at a random game store and found a box of Khornegors and Pestigors. I bought them partially on impulse and partly to use in dungeon crawl board games (well, one of each anyway). I opened both boxes this evening to check them out, and while the sculpts are lovely I was a little disappointed to realize they’re metal sculpts from early 2000’s (I’m worried about scale creep).
I’ve already seen the new Slaangor model in the preview (why I decided to check these sculpts) but how do these models hold up against the new Gor models? Particularly in scale/size? Would they look out of place size wise next to newer models, and would I be better off just grabbing a box of Gors and Bestigors to kitbash into the models I want (maybe just paint these up for my own enjoyment)? I’m not a BoC player so don’t have any models I can use for reference here (tried google but came up empty handed) so if anyone has some of these older models and they could give a comparison photo I’d greatly appreciate it.

  10.      Little threadocancy here as I’m sitting around bored waiting for the storm to pass; this is just bored musings and completely untested so please take these ideas with a grain of salt.
Units make a bravery roll immediately if they suffer more (unsaved, just to be clear) wounds than their bravery value (possibly make this half bravery). If the unit fails they just fall back 3” (reverse pile in) rather than losing models (and during the combat phase happens before the unit can strike back). During the battleshock phase any units that fell back make a standard battleshock roll and rather than losing models equal to the difference you lose wounds with any leftover “damage” dropped. This means there is no real change when effecting horde units (plus they’ll get bonuses below) while giving elite units a little more protection.

Abilities that negate battleshock instead add +2 to the unit’s bravery. All leaders gain a passive aura ability that lets units wholly within 6” use their bravery. Any unit with 20+ models receive +1 to bravery, and +2 at 40+ models. However units also suffer a -1 penalty if half the original unit has been killed. This would result in a net 0 modifier if a horde Has 20 models but started with 40 models so it may not work.

Behemoths and large monsters gain a “fearsome” keyword which gives a -1 or -2 to enemy bravery within melee range (and also acts as a penalty to charge rolls when charging the unit). A mechanically identical keyword (“Horrifying”?) also exists and is applied to undead, demons, and other traditionally scary units. A unit can have both keywords and their effects stack. Units that are traditionally known as monster slayers have a counter keyword which negates the effects of “fearsome” while horrifying has it’s own similar keyword (stoic?). Units with fearsome and horrifying keywords have their penalties doubled against enemy units who they charged this turn.
These ideas may be completely broken, idk, feel free to tear them apart, improve them, or just ignore.

  11.      This one is an extreme rush job because we have (another) hurricane bearing down on us. Originally I planned to spend another week slowly fixing and finishing the sculpting on them both then about a week, maybe two, giving the Khorne Prince a good paint job while I finished finding/making parts for the Tzeentch Prince. Sadly with another storm coming I don’t have the time for that and just wanted to get at least one of them “finished”. I know there are a lot of things that could be improved and plenty of mistakes to touch up but he’s done for the time being. The only other thing I plan to still do to him before I leave will be cleaning up the edge of his base. Hopefully we won’t be without power for weeks again this time and I can get something done after this storm.

  12.      Well the project is being shelved for now sadly as we have another frickin hurricane bearing down on where I live (And I *just* ordered some clear UV resin from green stuff world last night). I’d wanted to build it for my Tzeentch Daemon Prince in the painting contract but now I’m just rushing through painting the Khorne prince so I can get one of them finished before the storm hits. The sculpting wasn’t really good enough and I was gonna spend another week slowly getting it (half) right but it’s been primed and painted today in 15-30 minute increments and now I only need to get the metals painted, the bones/spikes highlighted, and the base done (which I haven’t decided on a scheme for yet because I want it to go with my unbased Iron Horde who are mostly dark metal vs his dark brown).

Assuming the storm doesn’t do too much damage (and we still have power, water, etc. this time) I’ll be able to focus on the Tzeentch Prince when we get back.

  13.      Could someone with some experience using these resins let me know if they would work for what I’m planning? I want to make some clear/translucent yellow and blue lightning effects for a model (maybe 1/8” to 1/4” or 3 to 6mm thick at most) and don’t know if these would be strong enough. Alternative idea would be to cut/shape it from some clear Acrylic plastic and then paint it but if the UV resin works it would allow for a better 3D shape which can be tinted with dyes or inks while making it. How brittle would it be and can anyone recommend a particular brand? If necessary my idea is to carve the Lightning’s shape into some foam and then pour the resin and and cure it

  14.      Wow, only the 4th and already so many progress pics! I’ve taken a hiatus since my last pledge but I plan to kitbash/convert two Daemon Princes  this month. Feels a bit like I’m cheating since I started Friday but that was only the 2nd. Have the base worked out but still need to source some bits and fine tune their poses.
My stretch goals would be to complete two more for the other gods, but it doesn’t look likely since we’re still in full on hurricane recovery mode (I’m still missing a sizable chunk of my roof). Progress pics below, I know they aren’t the most original but it’s from what  (mostly undamaged) kits I’ve found since the storm.

  15.      I needed something to break me away from reality for a while and decided to start kitbashing a few Damon Princes over the weekend. So far I’ve built a Khorne Prince from an old second hand Khorgorath with Deamon Prince parts plus a Tzeentch Prince built from the DP kit with parts from the Isle of Blood Highelf Griffon. I also plan to build one for the other two gods but my ideas aren’t as solid yet. I’m looking for a few bits that I could use to finish the Avian Prince plus some for the next in line Slaaneshi Prince.

    Tzeentch:

Knife or Sword from Magnus the Red kit (Knife preferred).

Spellbook/Grimoire to hang from on his hip.

Something interesting to serve as a staff topper (debating just making something from Plasticard and Procreate; PM me with a pic if you happen to have something which would work instead).

    Slaanesh:

Trygon tail and one extended (left) arm hook.

  16.      @Avatar Rage I’m a little late to the party, but before giving it a full repaint try adding a few glazes of army painter strong tone to darken the skin down.  If you want to give it black/dark brown skin use army painter’s dark tone instead. I’d say both of them would look a little better with a darker skin tone since their clothing is on the lighter side. Sorry I can’t really say what would or wouldn’t look “better” (my most frequent problem as well) but maybe something with a more heavily tanned look like Hispanic and some Asian/pacific skin tones.

  17.      If you have an airbrush grab a bottle of Velejo’s brush on matte varnish. It isn’t an actual varnish but water based so less finicky about the weather. It can be applied with a brush or airbrush (preferred) and gives you one layer or protection already if you decide to apply anti-shine later. One thing of note is the finish isn’t as dull as anti-shine and looks more like a satin finish.

This add-on is aimed at people who only have 1 friend who has only 1 warband, for people who wants to use models they shelved for whatever reasons and for people like me who are always looking for an excuse to buy more minis.

Sooo... everyone in every warhammer message board ever? Love the idea, will give them a read through today and try to test them out with my kids this evening I’d considered something similar inspired by the asteroid rules in a full thrust book combined with silver tower’s AI but never got further than “hey, could I do this?”. Have a hurricane bearing down on my area tomorrow so have to do some prep around here first though. Play tests will have to wait until we’re finished. One question while I’m at it though. In your FAQ at the end you mention “Doug’s 2+ Tough Warcry Add-On”, what is this add on? I’ve never heard of it so could you either summarize it or post a link (tried a google search but didn’t find anything)?

  19.      I ended up doing the tassels in a dark purple/blue scheme and the cape’s inside just a duller tone of the outside. The bases are currently just plain grey and I’ll dry brush some lighter greys and tans onto it for a plain, stony look. I swing between both extremes of excessive (over)planning and “****** it, I’ll wing it” modes  quite often with these guys being firmly in the second camp. I didn’t decide on red and orange armor until the paint was actually on the model.
I still have a lot of detail work and stuff that could be done to make it look better buuuut... well they’re playable enough for now.

  20.      I haven’t touched a brush since sometime around March or April, but I had an itch to paint up some orruks  with dark grey/black skin. Enter the new Krusha’s warband for Underworlds and it was a good enough reason to clean out my painting desk. I painted them up along with Ironskull’s boys and I’m liking the scheme so far but haven’t been able to decide on what color to make the inside of Ironskull’s cape or the hair/tassels on Margok’s armor and sword. I’m leaning towards tinting the cape with either green (Camoshade) or Orange (Fuegan). The tassels either purple or red/orange. Both warbands are painted in the same colors as these photos. Opinions?
