  1. I only started in September 2017, so about a year as a player, so I think I’m new, but I would much rather they just fix what’s there before adding anything new. The more new armies and factions they add the more difficult it will be to balance the old stuff once it’s caught up, or altogether decentivise them to even bother. As a fan of classic fantasy regardless (LotR, Warcraft, D&D and much more) I want the “core” fantasy races to be viable and playable. Which includes the Elves, Dwarves and regular humans as well as the vampires and literally everything Destruction.
  2. I heard original AoS was so bad there was a plague of videos of people burning their 1,000’s of dollar armies. Like apparently AoS was literally garbage upon launching but I started in 2017 September and always thought it was a good game. 2.0 made it even better but the parts of 1.0 I played I thought were good. I’m just waiting to see when everything gets really fixed. Sure some stuff is getting nice support and is in a good place, but there’s still a lot of broken and unviable stuff too. The ghosts part of death is in great shape, but the everything else could use some work. Literally all of of Destruction needs some work. Half of Order is in great shape and then there’s the Dwarves (all of them, Fyreslayers, KO and dispossessed) the Elves (all of them except DoK and IDK) the regular humans and so forth. All of Skaven needs help. Half of the Chaos gods and even the slaves to Darkness could use a little boost. Theres just a lot of old models and old factions with bad or no rules that need to be cleaned up.
  3. I’ve brought forth a completely different kind of list: going for a speedy list that’s very aggressive. Moving 10” forward for my Skeletons and Graveguard, 11” for my Morghasts and 16” for my Black Knights I should be able to close the distance easily. The spell portal is to help my necromancers still remain capable of casting VHD and supporting whilst not having to keep up since they removed the mounted option. I also gain a flat +1 attack for my Deathrattle for my command trait, or I could choose the ability to re-roll charges. I picked the Mortis Engine, Vampire Lord and a defensive artifact to keep my fragile 5 wound hero alive through heals, hopefully, in addition to providing support to make casting spells easier and more attacks respectively. It should be fairly easy to drop Cogs turn 1 and get everyone stuck in ASAP then set up spell portal for debuffs or VHD. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone run a list like this before, but to me it feels like my 2nd main army: The Ironjawz with an Ironfist Battalion! Depending on what I want to do I can get Black Knights with 20 attacks 3/3/-/2, plus another 20 4/5/-/1 then possibly VHD, which should put a clinic on anything they rush. Grave Guard on the other hand can be putting out 40 attacks 3/3/-1/1 with a chance for double damage, and another 40 with VHD. My Skeletons of course will just be nasty, at least the big 40 man block, putting out probably 100 attacks on average. A maximum of 200 and 400 if VHD. The Morghasts as well can get up to 10 at 3/3/-2/3, Which is pretty deadly all things considered. Up to 30 damage if a miracle happens. With several threats and almost everything able to be regenerated via Graveyards, Deathly Invocations and lucky rolls on Legions Innumerable it will be difficult to displace or kill anything between my healing network. Thoughts on such a list? 4. Do you have any suggestions for a Legion of Night army, or in general death tips, for battle of the pass map? The key is to hold home and both center points.... my offense today was 10 Skeletons, 10 2-handed Grave Guard and a Wight King which quickly died despite graveyard support. It was against a Slaanesh army and their speed and ability to react to my ambush took like 1 turn to get a keeper of secrets, Lord of Chaos, 5 chaos knights, 5 of their little noodle dragon riders with the -1 to hit aura and a chariot.... i held home base with 10 Grave Guard with shields and 30 skeletons. Mid he had 40 marauders. Should I have used 10 skeletons and 10 Shield Grave Guard and ambushed center with the 30 skeletons and 10 2-handed Grave Guard? He didn’t go for the bait at all so it would assume I need to go on offense right? I only get a defensive bonus in my own territory wholly within and I’m not sure who my most powerful offensive unit is. just any suggestions for this map?
  5. So today I built a vampire lord (the female one made of resin) is it was pretty terrible. This would be the longest shot in the Dark ever made... but does anyone know if or when they might ever completely move away from resin or is it a thing to stay forever? My Lord of Khorne on Juggernaut is resin too... I’ve actually got quite a few resin models and while I’m more used to it now I still hate it. Plastic is so much better. 15+ years all factions and every unit will be 100% plastic or the day will never come? Would they sooner just put units out of action than make a new model for them?
  6. My first game I played Neferata, 2 Morghast Harbingers, 2 sets of 10 skeletons and like 1 unit of 5 Graveguard. As soon as my Neferata and Morghasts went down I lost immediately. At 1,000 points it makes more sense to bring a few cheap heroes and then load up the rest of the points on regular troops. The next game I played was 2 Wight Kings, 1 Necromancers (350 points out of 1,000 so 35% I think) the rest was 30 Skeletons, then 10 skeletons then 10 Grave Guard with Sword and Shield and 10 with 2handers. This list was much better because even after losing 1 Wight King and 10 skeletons I still had plenty to fight with and lots of regeneration. I won by attrition because my units kept respawning members and being revived from the dead. With only 1 leader and that leader being 40% of your total points it makes it much harder to recover when they die. My next list will look something like this: Allegiance: Legion of NightLeadersWight King with Baleful Tomb Blade(120)- General- Mount: Steed- Trait: Merciless Hunter - Artefact: Curseblade Necromancer (110)- Artefact: Morbheg's Claw - Lore of the Deathmages: DecrepifyBattleline30 x Skeleton Warriors (240)- Ancient Blades10 x Skeleton Warriors (80)- Ancient Blades10 x Skeleton Warriors (80)- Ancient BladesUnits5 x Grave Guard (80)- Great Wight Blades5 x Black Knights (120)BattalionsDeathmarch (160)Total: 990 / 1000Extra Command Points: 1Allies: 0 / 200Wounds: 75 Although it’s entirely possible the Battalion is a waste at 1,000 so I may just go ahead and drop it for more troops.
  7. I wonder how many years I will need to wait for them to sort out the vampire section of death. Death feels like a mess now that I’ve gotten into it honestly. Only the ghosts are updated and to an extent FEC. Deathrattle models are old, but not terrible in quality, but most of the vampires are resin and their actual ability to put together a cohesive army is... essentially nonexistent. Soulblight is really bad apparently. Plus they straight up deleted all the ranged options. Skeleton Archers and stuff were all Tomb Kings. Also why were the majority of skeletons Tomb King but 3 units (Black Knights, Skeleton Warriors and Grave Guard) set aside for a completely different army? Everything is split up strangely and many of the models are old with only the Nighthaunt getting a big revamp. I hope Destruction gets love, and Slaneesh too as well as STD, to get the “main” stuff for each Grand Alliance some love but do you think the everything that isn’t Nighthaunt section of Death will see any love in the next 2 years or so?
  8. When I use the Mortis Engine explode ability... does it only heal, or can it bring back D3 models from the dead if they're 1 wound middles?
  9. I think the Wight King still has a place. The bonus attacks stack, after all. Vampires can target any death unit and wight Kings can target any Deathrattle unit. I suppose it would be entirely possible to bring 40 Skeletons, a Wight King with the Lord of Nagashizzar Command Trait, use his Command Ability on them in addition to a Vampire Lord’s Command Ability, sort of like using Mighty Waaagh! Multiple times, and getting +3 attacks on the blob of skeletons. In a perfect storm, one could have 240 3/4/-/1attacks going out. In a perfecter storm one could Vanhel’s said unit of Skeletons.... Even 10 Grave Guard with Great-Wight Bladed would put out 50 attacks... possibly twice. 3/3/-1/1 with a chance for double damage.... Honestly the more I look at Death the more they seem like a better version of Ironjawz. Wight King and Vampire Lord are essentially the Waaagh! Command Ability, fighting twice beats anything Destruction has, and Deathmarch is basically Ironfist but better - and if you play Ironjawz you know how good that Battalion is. Death has just as good of an offense as Ironjawz but their defensive ability is 10x better. Neither armies have ranged attacks or mortal wound prevention, but death magic is much stronger and the healing and resurrection of Grave Guards is straight up better. Replenishing entire lost units is just insane. Imagine if you could regenerate brutes on the spot or blobs of ‘Ardboys. Legion of Sacrament is Ironfist (Bloodtoofs) on Steroids with slightly worse charging (free automatic 6-8” though so debatably....).... Whilst Grand Host of Nagash has great support command abilities whilst being a tad (3”) slower than LoS but also buffs Morghasts who are just fast and tough anyway... Legion of Night allows you freely place your hammer right where you want it (within reason), and also gives your own territory objective holders a nice defensive buff making from an incredibly durable anvil. I think Wight Kings, Deathmarch and Deathrattle have a lot more potential than people give them credit for... but other people may not play Ironjawz or Khorne. Death has better defense than both Khorne and Ironjawz and just as potent of an offense with attack stacking. Now I just need to find my go to hammer unit. For Khorne it’s Skullreapers all day every day, they can destroy almost anything in a flurry of destruction, and for Ironjawz it’s Brutes. I need to find my elite killing blow unit that’s my main offensive tool. I’m testing out Great-Wight Blade Grave-Guard, Black Knights and Morghast Harbingers.... any other suggestions? Perhaps... Vargheists... 3/3/-1/2 3 attacks which can be buffed further by LoN and Vampire Lords... up to 5 on the charge I believe...
  10. Ah, too bad, no 6+++ save after all since no more Infernal Banner. I guess the functionality was roughly baked into the Deathless Minions Allegiance trait(s). You are correct, the bait only counts for Deathrattle, but as it stands my army seems to be comprised of almost all skeletons, so it all works out! I guess it would be over powered to have a save after a save after a save and to be able to buff them
  11. Is the Infernal Banner still an option for Wight Kings and how does that interact with most Legions deathless minions Allegiance trait. Also does the Crypt Shield bonus add +1 to the 6+ feel no pain? Does it modify that save roll or not? Also does the Legion of Night “The Bait” ability interact with Deathless Minions?
  12. Sucks there’s no mounted version of the Necromancer but the rest of my answers are good news! I know it adds +2 to charge rolls but I didn’t know if it extended the automatic 6” out to 8”. Glad it does work. I’m going to try a silly Deathmarch list once I get some Black Knights
  13. I have several questions. First: Which endless spells are the best for Death and are they often incorporated into Death lists? Second: How terrible is the Deathmarch Battalion? Been playing around with running Wight Kings on Skeletal Steeds with loads of skeletons, Grave Guard and Black Knights + Necromancers And Cogs giving basic skeletons 10” move and constant regeneration. Would this be stupid? Third: What are the general best realm artifacts for death? I know certain factions gravitate toward certain ones, which ones are the most valuable to death? Fourth: Does Chronomatic Cogs interact at all with the flat 6” charge skeletons get? Can I auto charge 8”? Fifth: Can I run Deathmarch Battalion in the Soulblight Allegiance? Sixth: Can Necromancers still ride Nightmare Steeds? I think it would be funny to have an insanely fast skeleton army that blitzkreigs out the gate with like 12” move skeletons and grave guard and 24” inch moving Black Knights and really fast heroes (all mounted or with wings basically) to keep up.
  14. That makes me really sad.... the chaos demon forces can all summon something from nothing, granted usually it’s a points system. Literally summoning a unit of Grave Guard to the battlefield on the spot would be so thematic and cool...
  15. Another question: I am assembling another Battleforce Blade of the Blood Queen which comes with 10 Grave Guard. The Warscroll in the assembly instructions speaks of a magic spell they give all Deathmages which is called like Raise Dead which allows you on a 7+ I think to summon 5 Grave Guard and on a 10+ to summon 10. Is that still a spell or effect anywhere? It’s not in the app and I’ve combed through my Legions of Nagash book multiple times but I don’t see it anymore.
  16. Does death have any buff spells or command abilities to wounds? +1 to wound rolls or anything like that?
  17. I feel like I made a mistake not giving my Morghasts glaives/ halbards.... -2 rend is pretty rare and there’s a lot of ways to negate -1 rend but not so many to bypass -2.... Again: I’m not sure what their roles are meant for. I know in 40k my World Eaters Berzerkers are my main combatants and objective takers, my Raptors will either reinforce them in the melee or take unsecured objectives and hold them if the opportunity should arise or defend my back line if needed with the flexibility of deep strike. I know my Helbrutes are going hero and monster hunting and I know my Havocs/Predators will be aiming at their transports and big scary stuff. I don’t know what my main offensive component in death is, or what Black Knights are for, and there is no deep striking to quickly reinforce or otherwise take advantage of gaps or emergency help a back line unit getting assaulted. I don’t know what Morghasts really do or even what Skeletons are for. I’m not sure what.... roles or battles to pick. Like I know Khorne Berserkers cap af probably 6 strength with AP -1 at best and 1 damage. They really should not be attacking, say, Dreadnoughts. It’s not their battle. They should be attacking Terminator (equivalents) and marine equivalents and guardsmen and their equivalents. Anything stronger than a terminator is probably not going to go particularly well for them. What fights should Grave Guard pick? What’s the purpose of Vargheists? Seriously what are Spirit hosts for? They seem useless.... not attacking I would guess. Are they tanks? Does this game have more of a “healer, tank, DPS” system? 40k doesn’t really have anything tanky per say because big guns can just kill it instantly.... but I’ve noticed like Mighty Skullcrushers and Gore-Gruntas don’t do lots of damage in particular but they can really hang around for awhile and tie stuff up and not budge. Then you would think Bloodreavers are kind of Killy but no they just instantly die.... and you’d think ‘ArdBoyz aren’t ****** but then they throw a pounding on you and they’re pretty damn tough too! So they’re great! And Brutes can kill anything, basically. If you guys want a pro-tip against Khorne: ALWAYS kill the Skullreapers first. Those guys can mow through anything with fistfuls of dice and are absolute monster power houses. Do NOT send a Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon against Wrathmongers: he WILL kill him self and they will hurt him badly too. I just don’t know what anything does in Death. What’s the difference between a Hexwraith and a Black Knight? What’s the difference between regular skeletons and Grave Guard they’re both 80 pts. 1 is Battleline and the other isn’t otherwise....?
  18. Is there a role or guideline for what each units.... purpose is? I’ll be honest I think 40k does a better job breaking down the purpose behind units by limiting their equipment, the battlefield role they attached to, and generally why you would bring them. Like generally anything with High strength, High Ap And High damage is meant to kill multiwound tough models: monsters, vehicles and big heroes. Anything with moderate AP and light damage and loads of attacks is great for mowing down general infantry, etc. i don’t know what like Morghasts purpose or role is, or Black Knights versus Hexwraiths, or Spirit Hosts, or really anything. I don’t know how to or why I would use these things or what purpose they’re meant for. The “this counters this” system is a lot more vague and muddy in AoS. What is the intended target for Black Knights to be and why? What are skeletons good for? Why are they better than zombies at it? Whats anything supposed to be doing and why does it do that well?
  19. I need more than 2 because I like the models a lot also I just really think the skeleton horse things look cool and I’m not happy with the final results on my Neferata and I learned my mistakes in building her and I think I will do a much better job on Mannfred and Arkhan and honestly I would like another go at Neferata herself because I don’t mind having 2 of her. I based her crooked and off center and it’s not my best work.
  20. Well as far as I could tell it was cheaper with the FEC Start Collecting than to buy individual Vargheists and Zombie Dragon kits, plus everyone seems to make out that zombie dragon is an absolute must have unit (I want one for cool factor and because a vampire rides it) So right now I have 20 Skeletons, 10 Graveguard, 2 Morghasts, a Wight King and Neferata herself. Youre highlighting Vampire Lords, Dire Wolves and the Coven Throne (I think her Battalion requires a Blood Palequinn). Ive heard people really want to be running 40 skeletons so I was thinking about getting the same box set again to round off my 40 skeletons and get another Mortrarch and the rest of it just because I like those models. Otherwise how should I fill out my skeletons or just run them MSU and get a lot of Dire Wolves for a blob? Or 40 skeletons (one way or another) and run 2 MSU Dire Wolves. Then get individual vampire leaders then the Start Collecting Malignants box? Something looking like this i suppose? Allegiance: Legion of BloodLeadersNeferata Mortarch Of Blood (400)- General- Lore of the Dead: Decrepify (Deathmages)Vampire Lord On Zombie Dragon (440)- Deathlance & Shield & Chalice- Lore of the Vampires: Amethystine PinionsVampire Lord (140)- Mount: Flying Horror- Lore of the Vampires: Vile TransferenceVampire Lord (140)- Mount: Flying Horror- Lore of the Vampires: Amaranthine OrbBattleline40 x Skeleton Warriors (280)- Ancient Spears5 x Dire Wolves (60)5 x Dire Wolves (60)Units10 x Black Knights (240)15 x Grave Guard (240)- Great Wight BladesTotal: 2000 / 2000Extra Command Points: 0Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 130
  21. So. Right now I want to focus on a Vampire oriented army with skeleton and skeleton-like beings making up the majority of my forces. Right now I have the LoN book online (AoS app) and 1 box of the Blood Queens army which provided: 1) Wight King 1) Mortrarch (I made Neferata), 2) Morghasts I made the 3d6 charging sort, 10) Grave Guard (I built them with 2 handed weapons) and 20) Skeletons (I made 2 sets of 10 with sword and shield atm). My overall plan is to get 1) Start Collecting! Death Rattle for 1 Mortrarch (probably Mannfred), 5 Black knights and 10 skeletons. Then I want 2) Start Collecting! FEC to create 1 VoloZD and 3 Vargheists then 1 solo Terrorgheist and 3 Vargheists. I also want 1) Start Collecting Malignants for 5 more Black Knights, I think a coven Throne and 3 Spirit Hosts. I also thought another blood queen army would be a good idea for a 3rd Mortrarch (debating between another Neferata cuz I adore her or an Arkhan cuz it makes more sense buuuuut I kind of built my Neferata wrong and I’d like a second chance....) 2 more Morghasts, 10 more Grave Guard and 20 more Skeletons. A box of skeletons for a solid 60 and some Dire Wolves at some point in my life plus 2 Vampire Lords, probably one on a steed plus another Wight King on steed.... a necromancer or so... So all told 2,000+ points planned, many vampiric units, many bone based units and so forth. Given the above in which order would you make your next purchase: what’s the most logical progression and growth of my army based on the contents I wish to purchase.
  22. Okay great! I wasn’t sure, sometimes they’ll put in a sprue for some armies with a kit that can make multiple things but not include certain parts because they sell that particular thing separately... Bloodthirsters/SKARBRAND comes to mind. If you piece all the total sprues together you can make any of them but in their respective boxes they’re split up but have overlapping sprues. Didnt know if the vampire lord himself came in a separate box or something.
  23. Can the FEC Start Collecting kit make Vargheists and Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon?
  24. Man I just get so nostalgic about Death... I want a little bit of everything you know. Collecting this army strangely takes me back to 2010... Wrath of the Lich King WoW expansion came out on my literal birthday and I stayed up allllllllllll night playing it. It just all takes me back to Warcraft 3, the Frozen Throne, The Plaguelands (diseased wolves remind me of Dire Wolves miniatures) the Vargheists remind me of Gargoyles, Skeletons, Ghouls and Zombies are all the same. Grave Guard remind me of certain enemies and somewhat Death Knights a little. I love the Wight King models. Black Knights are awesome and remind me a bit of the LotR kings and just Death Knights on their special class mounts. Zombie Dragons remind me of frost wyrms. Basically I want this to be my army: https://youtu.be/BCr7y4SLhck
  25. Well what happened was I bought the battle force and it has her and 2 Morghasts and 10 grave guard and 20 skeletons so that’s whats in my collection atm. Not sure where to go from here. I could get a Start Collecting FEC for vamp lord on dragon and Vargheists.... otherwise.... idk.
