  1. @TheWilddog Love how the base and yellow worked out, looks great
  2. Love that spider, especially how you manage to give that head a furry look , and the eyes, but yeah actually everything...just great
  3. Base for Lady Oly ready to be painted. In the meanwhile also started with the Briar Queen (not on my list, seems I finally will do more than signed for this month) . .
  4. This needs a little bump I think. Really enjoyed this challenge, and hope we will see next one (can completely understand it will not this April though) Not an easy choice as you say, so many great entries!
  5. Isn’t the weapon the warstomper is holding up, a foot on a stick, similar to what is shown in teaser?
  6. I have not really more time to paint due to the crisis, in fact I have less time, busy as hell at the moment at my work. But I had a relatively productive weekend. yesterday I was able to do the banshees for Lady Oly, and today I finally did a lot of non hobby related things in the house that were bugging me for months. Hope I can do the base next weekend, or at least make a good start. Painting is a great way to get unstressed for a bit
  7. I find the teaser for the sons very promising , provided that the new models will look much like the concept art showed. I was a bit afraid they would remove the old kit, and come with a totally different concept, which would have been a shame as I think it still a great kit with all the built options and extra bit and pieces. Now it looks like the new models will have a similar look and feel as the old one. A bit more fairy tale, / cartoon like than other ranges, but thats the same for most of the other destruction armies as well (.i.e. Gitz) I passed on OBR and probably also will pass on the new pointy aelves. For both i appreciate the creative design and it originality, but although I don’t completely dislike them, it is just not really my thing. But if it doesn’t turn out to be something completely different, I think I will never be able to resist the sons. In fact I am already pretty hyped, even without seeing a single model yet. If these are actually three different kits with many different options like the current kit, that would be totally awesome. But still, if it is one kit for each, or even one kit which allow you build the three different giants hinted on, that would still be pretty cool imo. think I gonna fetch me a couple more old giant kits, or at least finish the one from the pile to get into the mood.
  8. continue with Lady Olynder...some details to finish, and maybe do some weathering on the dress. Next the Banshees, and finally the base. That will keep me busy for this month I guess. WIP
  9. WIP Lady Oly: Still have to finish a rose (which I had to add after I accidentally snapped off, and lost! the original one), also want to do some edge highlighting on the robe. And maybe I will do some weathering on the robe as well (but first like to test that out) Next are her Banshees, for which I am waiting for the delivery of some oil paints, for an effect I like to try out on them. And then of course the lady deserves a proper base. That all won't be for this month though, so I guess that is enough to keep me busy for next month
  10. Love it!, hope to send in something one of the next challenges, won't be this month though.
  11. Banshees finally finished ....did a bit of a sloppy job , paint is to thick on many places, but overall colors comes close to what I had in mind, that is at least something. I kinda thought of them as being "white ladies" I really wanted to finish it after many troubles I had with building and painting them. Can't wait to start with Lady Olynder.
  12. Since I failed lqst month, my pledge for this month is the same as before: Myrmourn Banshees (minus 1) Lady Olynder
  13. Had a terrible month for painting. Not anywhere close to finishing my pledge. Not only didn't I have a lot of time, but I also struggled big time with the Banshees. Already started when I tried to built them. It says Easy to Built, but apparently that applies not for me (or anyone else with two left hands I guess). Ended up with a lot of gaps and the first big mistake I made was not fill them before I primed them so I had to fill them afterwards, and than have to prime some parts with a brush again, which didn't worked out that good either. Nor did I do a good job on filling the gaps, never was good with putty to be honest. Next problem I faced was how to paint them. I really love the sculpt, but I figured that the GW method with Night haunt Gloom didn't really fit these models, and I am not that keen on the color scheme GW uses for them either. Eventually I thought that as from all night haunts the banshees comes closest to really ghostly "bedsheets" So I wanted to paint them mostly white with a ghostly touch. This was where the real problems started, because it turned out that painting white isn't that easy at all. I had put my hopes on the contrast paint apothecary white, but that really didn't do it for me. Maybe it was the way I handled the paint, I don't know, but result was a disaster. I tried to thin it with Contrast Medium, but somehow the paint seem to become thicker and sticky because of it (not much experience with it so far, is that normal?) I decided to start over again and removed the paint. The first time I primed it with Seer Grey and Wraith Bone, but I felt that wasn't white enough, so this time I tried with a vallejo white primer, but although I always had good result with their black and grey, this one was quiet messy. Again I removed the paint. Wen removing the paint I accidentally broke some parts off. Most parts I was able to glue back again, but the jaw was lost (not a big deal). This time I had chosen an old Citadel white spray (Skull White) I still had in store somewhere. Bad choice again. Not sure if it was because of the paint of just bad skills, but it was way to thick. Crackled on some places, and all fine details were gone I gave up on that one for the moment, and just finished another one last minute today. Probably the easiest and fastest paintjob I have done in years, but funny enough, much closer to the result I had in mind. Not prefect, and I missed a gap, others not filled properly, and on some places the paint is quiet thick. But definitely much better than the first attempts. Hope to do better next month.
  14. Hi Kramer, Have you seen these: https://www.sceneryworkshop.nl/books-tta600025.html
  15. That is a positive thought, maybe a silly idea, but what if the next fase/edition would be an order oriented release, similar to how last year was chaos? Getting new warbands, one for each city, Like how we got now 8 very distinct chaos warbands? Probably utter nonsense, but I would love it
  16. With the Soul War box finally finished, I continue to complete my Nighthaunt army. I bought all sets, including the store anniversary models, so still a lot of grey plastic waiting for me. Once these are all done (not anytime soon) it is time to think about one or few army-lists and buy the required sets to complete it. For this month I will try to finish the 4 banshees and Miss Oly. For the last I am not yet sure what to do. I am not that keen on the fully white GW example, and I really like her to stand out. But at the same time she should still fit the rest of the army..., and I should take into account my modest painting skills of course, It shouldn't be to ambitious, unless I want to frustrate myself, and quite painting for another decade
  17. @The Brotherhood of Necros, love that conversion, and the story you created around it. The ghostly duardin are a nice addition. Out of curiosity, what id you use to create the fog and light effects in that vid?
  18. Thanks. For the blades I use Vallejo Metal Color: Steel (77.712). Then added rust using Vallejo Pigments Brown Iron Oxide (73.108) and Old rust (73.120) I love the Metal Color range, think one of the best metal acrylics around. For the Blue, I simply follow one of the GW schemes (from the BT if I remember correctly). Just Nighthaunt Gloom blended into Deepkin flesh. Added thin layers of Nighthaunt Gloom on the top to get a bit stronger blue. Not the most original colors I admit, but tried various other, more unique colors, but in the end always ended up with the GW color schemes,I simply like them too much.
  19. Yeah, great stuff this month, so many cool paintjobs and conversions. Managed to meet my (modest) goals this months. The last Grimghast Reaper and 5 Stalkers are done too. So Nighthaunt half of Soulwars done now. One of the Stalkers was swept by the cat in a funny mood, not sure in which realm it ended, cant find it anywhere. First time I am happy with the odd number of models in the box
  20. Spirit Torment done.. I am bit.in doubt if I will add some rust to chains and locks though
  21. Really? Must admit that I never bougth those...but quick check I find currently three big dino kits at Elements, all cheaper than GW: Stegadon (43,13 Euro vs 50 Euro at GW), Sauros cold one on Carnosaur (57.50 Euro vs 65 Euro at GW) and one not available: Bastiladon (40.45 Euro vs 46 at GW)..I realize this is just a snapshot in time of course. Wonder if and how this can be different for you. Would it matter which country you are in? Edit...ah now I see. in GBP it is the same price!...wtf. Looks like you are completely right. Models discounted have a strikethrough on the original price. The big dino's don't have that indeed/ But apparently for Eurpean Mainland (or at least the Netherlands) it still makes a difference
