  1. Thanks @Luzgurbel! The plague monks one was rough. Especially since he was able to warp-grinder deep strike in 40 of them as well on my back line. I had to move up to be in range of hitting some of his more meatier items, but it ended up revealing my back line a bit too much.
  2. Hellooooo Ladies and Gentlebeards! I was in Rochester, NY over the weekend at the Da Boyz GT with my Sky-Dorfs. I ended up placing 22nd out of 56(ish? I think?). I went 2 wins and 3 losses, with 2 of the losses being quite close, and 1 loss being a blow out unfortunately. My 1 win was quite hardy and the 2nd was fairly close as well. Overall I think the list performed well, and I think some of the errors were on my behalf of getting to hungry for some objectives/kills. Below is the list I used. Allegiance: Kharadron Overlords Mortal Realm: Ghur Skyport: Barak-Mhornar - Additional Footnote: There's No Trading With Some People Leaders Aether-Khemist (160) - General - Trait: Opportunistic Privateers - Artefact: Gryph-feather Charm Aether-Khemist (160) - Artefact: Rockjaws Battleline 30 x Arkanaut Company (360) - 9x Light Skyhooks 20 x Arkanaut Company (240) - 6x Light Skyhooks 10 x Arkanaut Company (120) - 3x Light Skyhooks Units 5 x Grundstok Thunderers (100) - 5x Aethershot Rifles 6 x Endrinriggers (240) War Machines Arkanaut Frigate (240) - Main Gun: Heavy Sky Cannon - Great Endrinworks: The Last Word Arkanaut Frigate (240) - Main Gun: Heavy Sky Cannon - Great Endrinworks: Malefic Skymines Battalions Iron Sky Squadron (130) List worked out well overall. I'm not sure if I would change much, I think it's more I need to work out the tactics a bit better. First Match - Loss - Nurgle First match was against 2 Great Unclean Ones and a Rotigus. There were a few small spats of plaguebearers and a large squad of the Plague Drone fly dudes. The Drones did the most amount of damage for sure, and I simply couldn't do enough damage to cut through the Disgusting Resilience. I managed to take out 2 of the GUOs but it wasn't enough to come out on top. Second Match - Win - Moonclan Grots 60 man block of moonclan along with a Hag, multiple varieties of Big, Medium, and Small Squigs, and a grot artillery cannon thing. I was able to shoot down the big guys in first turn and then it was a matter of slowly chipping away at the grots for a win. Third Match - Loss - Blades of Khorne This was a close one and came down to some tactical mistakes on my part. I went for objectives to win, rather than go for a tie and hopefully pull something off through secondaries. He ran Gore Pilgrims, a Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage (with some nasty Mortal Wound AOE output) and Skarbrand. I managed to rip up most of his lines and forced him to summon multiple squads of bloodletters, but I couldn't kill off enough at the very end in order to hold the middle objective and lost by 2 points. Fourth Match - Loss - Clan Pestilens 200 PLAGUE MONKS. I want to start with that statement. We played Better Part of Valour which ended up being a nail biter. I managed to kill his Verminlord, Big Machine Feel No Pain thing, and about 170 plague monks, but a bad run move on my part didn't get me close enough to burn the one objective in his deployment zone. I believe this one was a 2 point difference as well. I know I screwed up here by not using the command ability for an auto-6" run. Fifth Match - Win - Stormcast This I'm very proud of simply because it was Places of Arcane Power (a mission I despise) against a Sacrosanct Stormcast army. He deep struck in half his units and failed a few key charges. First turn prior to his deep strikes I managed to rip up two units of Sequitors, a Lord Arcanum, and an Incantor. His failed charges and my ability to keep priority meant I was able to toss a ridiculous amount of skyhooks at units and fire him down. He had an 8 man unit of Sequitors and Castellant left, having started with; a 10 man and 2 five mans, an Incantor, Castellant, Lord Arcanum on Gryph-Thing, 3 Evocators on Gryph-Things, 10 Evocators, and a small unit of allied Khinari Heartrender ladies. Overall, I'm happy having been the only representative of Kharadron Overlords at the event and placing in the top half overall. Looking forward to trying to perfect the list a little more.
  3. Friends and I took a 5 hour drive to New York for an Age of Sigmar/40k Tournament. Painty Men took the wheel.
  4. Couple shots of my display board with the boys for an upcoming tournament next week. Also made some custom Aether-Runestones for objective markers. The ships aren't shown however.
  5. I too have taken dumps, that were mostly cake.
  6. Hey Guys! I'm looking to start into the Legion of Azgorh and build on a list. I'm looking to focus more on the Chaos Dwarves side of the army. Tactically I'm looking at bare-minimum running at Hashut's Artillery Train and then possibly a Blackshard Warhost but I'm wondering if it's worth it. Drops I know are always a thing to think of. My overall buy list is: Drazoath Castellan Standard Bearer Daemonsmiths 40 Ironsworn 20 Fireglaives 2 Magma Cannons Deathshrieker Iron Daemon War Engine Any other necessities you all are thinking of that would be good to start off with?
  7. Hey Guys! Just finished up a small local club tournament over the weekend and took 1st! There were only 8 attendants, so nothing huge, however there were some interesting and difficult lists which made my new list even more fun to try out. List Below Allegiance: Kharadron Overlords Mortal Realm: Ghur Skyport: Barak-Mhornar - Additional Footnote: There's No Trading With Some People Leaders Aether-Khemist (160) - General - Trait: Opportunistic Privateers - Artefact: Gryph-feather Charm Aether-Khemist (160) - Artefact: Rockjaws Battleline 30 x Arkanaut Company (360) - 9x Light Skyhooks 20 x Arkanaut Company (240) - 6x Light Skyhooks 10 x Arkanaut Company (120) - 3x Light Skyhooks Units 5 x Grundstok Thunderers (100) - 5x Aethershot Rifles 6 x Endrinriggers (240) War Machines Arkanaut Frigate (240) - Main Gun: Heavy Sky Cannon - Great Endrinworks: The Last Word Arkanaut Frigate (240) - Main Gun: Heavy Sky Cannon - Great Endrinworks: Malefic Skymines Battalions Iron Sky Squadron (130) Total: 1990 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 1 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 115 Match 1 - Focal Points - Daughters of Khaine The first match I decided to take the first turn. My opponent had Morathi, a couple of the support characters, 30 witches, 10 witches, 10 witches, and then the Warlocks on horses. He lined up right on the line, as did I, and stretched his units of witches in the very front. Morathi had in the back of his lines. In the past, this army has crushed mine due to the movement speed and high damage output he's been able to do against my lines. This time I ran the gambit to see if I could cripple him enough to keep myself alive. It worked out better than I had thought. Turn one found 45 of 50 witches dead, the warlocks wounded heavily and simply his characters remaining. He called it shortly after as he felt there was nothing he was able to do to come back. after my initial onslaught. -Major Victory Match 2 - Duality of Death - Spiderfang Grots Spiders upon spiders upon spiders. His list was 4 of the Arachnarok behemoths, a Spider shaman dude, unit of orruk boar boyz, a Warboss on Boar, and I believe 5 units of grot spider riders. With all his behemoths and characters I knew this was going to be difficult. I needed to secure, or at least deny as quickly as possible. I took first turn and managed to rip through 2 of the Arachanroks and put damage on the other two enough to reduce their effectiveness. He hit me early with charges, however between the khemists being able to sap some of the attacks and the size of my Arkanaut units, I was able to take the hits and fire back with loads of firepower. This one ended in turn 4 with a full wipe of his army and me being able to claim the objectives with khemists. -Major Victory Match 3 - Total Commitment - Sylvaneth I was worried about this one as Sylvaneth can be a very tanky army and eat up a lot of damage. His list was Allarielle with a Spirit of Durthu tanking wounds for her. Another Treeman, a branchwraith, 3 units of dryads, and those sneaky dudes that can deep strike (Revenants?) I knew Allarielle would going to be the lynchpin and I had to take her down first I wanted to accomplish anything. She also has the free extra summoning which was going to do havoc to my lines if she got that off. I had basically one chance to take her out. I targeted her first and threw the entire army's worth of shots at her. She tanked a good chunk off to Durthu, but a final charge of Endrinriggers managed to take down her last wound. His counter charge was pretty nasty, but I managed to tank a lot of the attacks. Having the Endrinriggers that far up in his business took a lot of the flakk off my other units. I managed to take out the rest of his items over the course of the next couple turns and once he had nothing but dryads left he called it. -Major Victory Overall the ability to drop everything between the battalion and Frigates within was a huge benefit. I focused a lot on trying to get as devastating of an alpha strike as possible with targeted skyhook shots and clean up with the pistols on the Arkanauts. The Endrinriggers were a fantastic speed bump and clean-up crew as were the Thunderers(100 points and could wipe small MSU units off of objectives easily.) I enjoyed the army overall and it worked about as I was expecting it to, if not better.
  8. Hey all, Quick question with regards to Fireglaive and Ironsworn units. Is a Deathmask required in the unit? Just thinking I'd much rather just have a unit of 10 Fireglaives than swap one out with a pistol and axe.
  9. Thanks for this @Requizen! Any idea on a good start place for me in terms of the other items? I'd like to run more Vanguard Hunters than Liberators, but from what I read not a lot of individuals are fans of them. I just think they look awesome and the amount of attacks seems interesting. My original though was large blobs of them with Staunch Defender, but Palladors would probably work out better. EDIT: Also, would you guys recommend the Vanguard Battalions or no?
  10. I do have 6 Longstrikes in total. Overall I have the below now: Lord Aquillor Celestant on Stardrake Celestant on Dracoth Knight Azyros 2x Knight Venator Lord Relictor Lord Veritant 10 Liberators 30 Vanguard-Hunters 9 Pallidors 6 Longstrikes 5 Retributors 9 Prosecutors 8 Gryph-Hounds Unit of Aetherwings
  11. Hey All! So I recently received a great deal on a large sum of Vanguard Auxillary, but I'm not 100% sure tactically what to do with it. Does anyone still play Vanguard at all or has everyone moved on to Sacrosanct? Few notes on the army, I have 30 Hunters, 9 Pallidors, and a mish mash of other stuff all lumped together.
  12. Thanks much! @Malakree I'll see if I can pop the heads off without doing much damage to the paint and magnetize. I'm not the greatest at it, but a little practice wouldn't hurt.
  13. Side thought also, I wanted everyone's opinion on this: With all the additional relics within Malign Sorcery along with our own, what do you guys feel best suits us? I've been toying with a few different possibilities. I know obviously certain relics are going to be better for combat oriented characters like the Admiral/Endrinmaster, while more support favored relics are needed by the Khemist/Navigator. I just wanted to know what you all decided were best suited as I'm having difficulty making useful selections.
  14. Hey Guys, Trying something a bit new for an upcoming tournament. I've been prepping more Arkanaut for it. This ends up being a one drop list with the "out of battalion" units being able to go inside the Frigates. Allegiance: Kharadron Overlords - Mortal Realm: Ghur Skyport: Barak-Mhornar - Additional Footnote: These are Just Guidelines LEADERS Aether-Khemist (160) - General - Command Trait : Opportunistic Privateers - Artefact : Gryph-feather Charm Aether-Khemist (160) - Artefact : Rockjaws UNITS 30 x Arkanaut Company (360) 30 x Arkanaut Company (360) 10 x Arkanaut Company (120) 5 x Grundstok Thunderers (100) 3 x Endrinriggers (120) WAR MACHINES Arkanaut Frigate (240) - Main Gun : Heavy Sky Cannon - Great Endrinworks : Malefic Skymines Arkanaut Frigate (240) - Main Gun : Heavy Sky Cannon - Great Endrinworks : Incredible Self-healing Hull BATTALIONS Iron Sky Squadron (130) It ends up being roughly 39 Skyhooks being able to reroll against a targeted unit. It's a one drop as the Endrinriggers, Khemists, and Thunderers can sneak inside one of the Frigates if necessary. What do you guys think? I know Endrinriggers is what's generally used, but I don't have as much luck with them.
  15. Thanks for the help @Baron Wastelands! I was really debating on whether to go full into the Torbad or just make the next two in Stonehorns for a Eurlbad/Jorbad. This helps me just figure on the fact I'll make them into Thundertusks and be done with it. Maybe get one more later on for a Stornhorn Beastrider.
  16. Hey Guys! I just picked up a good deal on some BCR for my second army and am looking for some advice. As of right now I have 1 Huskard/Frostlord on Stonehorn, 2 Thundertusk Beast Riders, 12 Mournfang, 6 yhetees and 12 Sabres with 2 Hunters on the Way. I also have 2 more of the Start Collecting Boxes coming and am not sure what to build the big dudes as given what I have. I spoke to a friend and he said based off the dudes I have I should go for a Torrbad, but I wasn't sure how that'd play out. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated on a good direction.
  17. I was typically seeing 1 or 2 drop at the tournament or, forgoing that, huge lots of multi-drop with the expectation they were probably going to go second.
  18. To answer your question, my club meets tonight for gaming and I'm totally going to just put Painty Men on in the background while I play, whether he likes it or not. Subscription By Force! By The Way, Willow is one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time, suck it.
  19. So one thing I think we're really good at (even with the slight nerf in 2.0) is priority target elimination. The key I've found is to figure out how to manage threat priority and surgically rip out the key pieces of an enemy force. For me, I do that through as much ranged combat as possible with Endrinriggers being a mobile screen. Also with AoS, I've found a lot of people put a lot of focus on a couple models. When you take those models out, they tend to panic because the plan is changed. We do well with causing enemy panic.
  20. That makes sense with the sprues. I could see it as an easy conversion, but I'm sure GW would rather have the option in pure model format over forced conversion. That being said, I do still believe the Volleyguns should be 4+/4+ across the board. It would make them competitive with Skyhooks.
  21. So some simple options (in my mind) on how to make the other Arkanaut Company Special Weapons viable would be as follows: Make the Volleygun 4+/4+ like is on the Endrinriggers and Skywardens Either give the Skypike a flat 2 damage or increase the hit potential. OR alternatively increase the attacks characteristic of the Arkanaut Cutters. The unit isn't meant for close combat which is why the Skypike isn't something to be used. Maybe give the option of running two cutters and no pistol or something like that for a close combat centric Arkanaut Company. EDIT: Also, possibly if you do two cutters on the company rather than cutter/pistol, they get an extra attack and hit on 3's or rerolls 1's or something like that. That way it's equivalent to having 2 shots and a close combat attack.
  22. Thanks @Kramer! I outfit mine all with Rifles. It ends up being 32 shots, 3+/4+ rerolling for Opportunistic Privateers at -1 Rend. I've been able to put a bit enough dent in Nagash twice to be able to finish him off first turn with an ironclad or skyhooks.
  23. Really big fan of the show so far and have been trying to push it to the rest of my gaming group. It's nice to see a podcast focusing a lot more on how batsh*t crazy and fun everything in AoS is rather than being super serious. Great listen, much recommend.
  24. Morning Admirals! I participated in a small RTT over the weekend with my KO and ended up taking 2nd place. It's further testing for my list I plan on bringing to NOVA and hopefully not getting stomped. My list below and I'll show you my matchups. It was only a 3 round event. Skyport: Mhornar, Realm: Hysh Extra Amendment: These Are Just Guidelines Admiral - General, Opportunistic Privateers Khemist - Lens of Refraction Navigator 10x Arkanaut Company /w Skyhooks 10x Arkanaut Company /w Skyhooks 10x Arkanaut Company /w Skyhooks 10x Grundstok Thunderers 6x Endrinriggers /w 2 Volley guns Ironclad - Volley Cannon, Maelefic Skymines Ironclad - Volley Cannon First Matchup: Legions of Nagash - Major Victory - Knife to the Heart Played against this opponent in a previous tournament and lost, but had a great game with a fun opponent. He took a large blob of skellies, zombies, 10 Black Knights, Prince Vordrai, and Nagash. Had a great guidelines roll to be able to roll 1's against flying units. Took first turn, ran up, assassinated Nagash and took Vordrai down to half wounds. After that it was a lot of jumping around and taking out units at a time. The knights hit hard, but I was able to tank it with the Ironclad and Khemist (sapping attacks). Second Matchup: Ironjawz - Major Loss - Places of Arcane Power This one was tough due to the speed. He ran 2 Warchanters, an allied ork warboss on wyvern, and 30 Gore-Gruntas. It was a bloody fight and we ended up with maybe a handful of minis on each side, but he was able to cap a point over me. My shots weren't connecting like I'd like either and my Guideline roll was useless unfortuately. Third Matchup: Ironjawz - Major Victory - Shifting Objectives Another Ironjawz player with a different setup and a better mission in my favor. He ran an Ironfist battalion with a big unit of 'ard boyz, 6 gruntas, 10 brutes, a shaman, 2 warchanters, maw krusha, and foot-boss. He shot up fast and was able to make contact with one Ironclad first turn, however I was able to take the double and start cutting down greenskins. I was able to swing the points in my favor by jumping on objectives as quick as possible with Endrinriggers and Ironclads. Overall, I find the Ironclads to be fantastic distractions for the rest of the army to stay safe. Endrinriggers I've been using as a suicide unit to run up, shoot a ton, and tie down a unit as quick as possible. The rest is unit selection with thunderers and skyhooks/volley cannnons. I'm excited to see how it does at NOVA soon.
  25. Thanks much! For those of you running a Grundstok Escort wing, how have you done with it? I'm really hesitant to pull the trigger and get 3 Gunhaulers as I haven't seen their use in comparison to other units. I would love to hear some success stories or solid uses for them.
