  1. @Athrawes awesome on on aelven cloud strife on your lore seeker! Love the design of the beastie, and the armor he’s wearing is awesome! Also excellent job on the Anvil of Apotheosis creator!

slowly painting my own sunset Zaitec warden squad in between studying, and I shudder to think about doing another 40+ of those guys. I learned that you should leave the swords off their back till the end to paint their backs and armor, so that is valuable. I think that I got the color scheme down too, so I am pretty happy with that.

I’m dying to see the new underworlds box set and it’s unit. Our army is so anemic choice wise  that I am dying to see what else they give us, as I think the basic army list has been talked about a lot already. Can’t wait till I actually get to play these guys, but I am wanting more like the greedy SOB that I am.

As a Slaanesh mortals fan, my wish is finally (kinda) coming to fruition.

Do you guys think we'll be getting the heroes separately?

just be careful you dont poke someone's eye out with all that excessive excitement

  3. man it's sad they are already bringing the AoS end times with broken realms smh /s

I am very excited to see where the narrative goes, and I hope this brings the setting more meat with slaanesh being hinted at being released. That's quite the image, and the idea of him breaking out after like, 4 years is pretty dang compelling.

Arrgghhhhh, why was this guy not part of the release for the Lumineth... .

And looks like we get the River faction in there.  And a proper melee hero maybe? At least from the looks.

forgot that the preview was today! of all the ways to introduce a new elemental faction this wasnt the way I figured they would do it. I know we need to know more, but still pretty interesting that this is where they are giving some new units. Plus, I guess the river guys have the missing greatswords!

This may be the stepping stone I need to get into warhammer underworlds too.

Plus the slaaneshi mortals look pretty damn awesome.

I am also really, really interested in the warcry stuff, but unfortunately I don't think I can afford another set.

    Kick ass on those exams!

After looking at the Alt paint scheme for Ymetrica, I really liked it, but wanted to experiment with making these Realm Lords more... I dunno.. Magical, realmy, you know, Illuminated Lumineth Lords.

The color shift paints recommend using a black undercoat (which I did with the Cathallar Kitbash posted above), but for the Wardens, I actually used a med dark blue for the undercoat (AP Deep Blue) to keep it more blue, and just make their robes shimmer.

I have actually been experimenting with it over same color metallics too, like Burning gold from Greenstuff world over retributor gold for the special armor, which actually turns out quite well I think. I am doing Celestine azure over leadbelcher, but I am not completely sure that it looks as good for a magical weapon sort of deal.

So while waiting for the main release to drop in September I've been working on some 3D printed terrain. Here are two elven statues I've printed and painted.

Hopefully I'll be working on some actual Lumineth models in a few weeks...

If you like the scenery you can get some yourself in my Etsy shop

these are amazing, and I will probably be picking a few up for my display board!

do you think you can do a stylized mountain spirit statue? or a celenar one?

Your insight to all this is appreciated, and sorry to hear that your struggling with it. The deepkin in particular is a harsh match up, and as a deepkin player I think  having the cathaller be 3” away from the front lines  While within a squad of dudes would help, but the mortal wounds the morrsarr guard has would be a problem still, so I have no answer. The cloud of midnight trick is particularly nasty, especially for us.

The second game sounds like it was a lot more fun, but I agree with others that you need a battalion to help give your list a little more oomph, especially with the defense buffs it provides.

@jartem Also interesting insight! Do you think the -1 to hit aura is better than the -1 to hit targeting debuff? And do you have any experiences with the majority sentinel / warden list? Cause that’s the one I really wanna try too. I really need to learn how to use TTS...

  8. Are you the best and you damn well know it? Want to sling magic around with your basic foot soldiers? Wanna Take a lot of drugs taken straight from the magical light of your realms in order to pass your wizard registry test Or to make you even more annoying to hit?

Do you just REALLY hate moonclan goblins and want to turn them into pin cushions from 30” out?

    Then Lumineth is for you!

  9. So anyone have any experience trying to get models into base to base with the wardens? Cause the spears are nice but I dunno how fun they are to play with in a game!

Also, one of the things I want to know is how much brain drain happens to the lumineth when they are outside of hush. I know them spending long periods outside of the realm makes their thoughts a little sluggish, but I would like to hear information on lumineth colonies / bases being set up outside the realm of hysh.

  10. Haven’t even played a game with them, but I really like how the wardens look on paper from the lumineth faction. Long range on their spears to counteract their bigger base size, able to punch above their weight with mortal wounds, and the leader is a wizard able to cast spells to buff themselves or other units in the same army, or to use endless spells. And can toss a grenade of mortal wounds when you want, because they can.

I love them even more in a proper faction too. Being able to cast a spell that allows them to become Ethereal for a turn is absolutely golden, even without the -1 to hit with a shining company. These guys can be really survivable to normal damage when needed, which I really like.

They did, aside from snippets throughout the army and core books you had several novels that expanded on the lives of ordinary citizens.

Yea, I feel AoS would be serviced by more of these small snippets... and maps. I don’t want every corner of the realms covered like in WHFB, but I want some coverage of areas that the story takes place. I love Scourge of Fate, but I just couldn’t imagine where the final battles were taking place for the life of me, or the layout of the kingdom.  A map of areas like the Brimstone peninsula or of Ymetrica are always really fun, but I think some sense of scale would be needed too. They could even be massive scales, just to show how expansive these places are.

  12. 20 minutes ago, Chumphammer said:

    I wouldn't say that lol.

I have just tried 1x 5 and 1x10  so far do wanna give 2x5 a go

Also just cause it hasn't worked for me as everyone targets them first doesn5 mean it won't for others :)

Will 5 fit in the petrification bubble?

the Rune of petrifaction is the spell that does mortal wounds for non lumaneth within 6 inches of it. I just think it’s a great spell for placing it down on an objective the enemy is holding and letting them get whittled away while you shoot at them.

And fair! I think the dawn riders will be staying in the back of my army as I slowly advance up, waiting to zip forward when needed.

  13. EDIT: Whoops, forgot to give context. Even after the recent 1 day event and some info about a TTS tournament, I still think this is the list I am going into. I know @Chumphammer said two dawn riders are better than one, but I think I still want to use the rune of petrifaction to guard objectives. Dunno how to do spell choice though, and only have a general idea of utility over  what is best.

I think I need to start playing some table top simulator games myself...

My excitement for the return of proper elves has diminished slightly after reading the book. The lore isn't bad at all really, it's just the lack of units which seems a bit silly when they mention them and they don't get an entry. I honestly wouldn't bet money on there being a future release any time soon which covers them. Cities didn't get cannons and every novel that features them mentions cannons, skellies still don't have archers even though Neferata's forces are described as having bows.

In the old days I'd have said it was just GW being GW - that a new book and kits would drop a year from now, because why sell one army book when you can milk fans for two? Now I think they've just been focusing more on 40k and have dropped the ball with AoS on some of the last few releases. Lots of cool looking minis, some of their best ever, but the rules are all over the place and feel a tad incomplete.

I'm keen to get the Lumineth on the table and try them out, I think there's the basis of a cool faction here and I'm definitely in the pro-helmet crowd. Just kind of wish there was an un-named choppy hero and a chariot or artillery piece. There's not exactly much meat on the bones and I think playing them is going to get stale pretty quickly. I'll be keeping them as a second army I think.

Yea, I feel that 40K has been taking a lot of the rules writer’s time. I like what we have now, but I agree that there is some places that should have been expanded on, that rules should have been thought out properly, gaps in the model range filled up and explored.

what kills me is that the gaps could have been filled with what was left over from the old high elf range. We could have taken the lore master for ourselves as the new lore seeker with an updated warscroll, the archmage as another hero to work along side our units, the dragon princes as heavy Calvary and the two drake riding elves as other close combat heroes. Heck, just plug in the sky cutter as well and we can have some fun. But instead we got a big chunk missing that should have been expanded on, an anemic unit choice, and a nice big lack of choice. Fluff wise I think that more info could have been given to the modern times, like governments and cities that exist currently, but even that seems a bit up in the air.

A lot of people feel like investing in a CoS army is a gamble because who knows if the models are gona stay valid for long and GW does NOTHING to ease this feeling. No warcry support, not a single AoS model and with Lumineth they showed it again by not linking the Elves in the Mortal Realms with the elven deities and armies.

    It royally ****** me off.

I mean, isn’t it the same for things like imperial guard? The models are super old, but if they start getting pulled then holy carp the outrage would be enormous. I think both LoN and cities are reaching that point now, and with the new rules and the popularity of these armies, I think they would have the same amount of outrage if they go on another purge.

Really, I think the main reason  most of those armies were squatted were the lack of rules incentivizing people to purchase, thus leading to lower sales and a target for removal. Granted, groups like the wanderers and ironweld may be on the chopping block if their rules are not good, so what do I know?

the big issue there is it's too out oc character with how he is described in the lumineth book, especially the way his journey at the start to find teclis is described and the "being*" he met.

*which I suspect is the spirit of hysh proper, instead of just it's moon.

yea, I agree. besides he already had to deal with this whole Rigmarole during the end times, which ended up dooming the homelands he fought aeons for, ruined relationships with his former allies, and helped usher in the destruction of the world by going on a temper tantrum. I think he learned his lesson to be honest, unless in recent years he took plot regression pills.

lol maybe the reason we didnt get Tyrion is he is going to be a separate faction and be evil lol

"Tyrion, like Teclis, was instrumental in the rise of the Lumineth Realm-lords. We’re yet to see this masterful warrior – we assume he’s crusading somewhere else. Let’s hope he doesn’t run into any ancient, evil swords…*"

I think that’s just a joke to his sword of Khain obsession that played a huge roll in the end times. Or he could have a huge heel turn, which I really hope doesn’t happen considering how he is a god in his own right, and the curse of anaerion died with the old world.

It’s likely 32 mm, but they haven’t announced it as far as I know.

@Rock Lobster that’s a really nice colour scheme and great painting job.

@Acid_Nine The azure makes it look like a magical sword, but I can also see why you might not like it. You could also use it for the rune on his shield, that’s how it looks a bit in the Zaitrec picture. But also not sure about that, hahaha : )

would you believe I forgot to look at that reference? It is a bit too late with how many paint layers I put onto it, soI may keep it... but I may experiment more. And yea, I like the Azure, but worried it's a bit too magical. I dunno, may try a test of it over steel, but so far I a do love it. I always imagined sunmetal to retain a bluish tinge like the sky, or maybe a white hot style of metal.

  19. Long time no update! Summer rad tech school has been killing me, so I haven’t been able to really do a lot of hobbying, especially since the paints I wanted to use didn’t come in. They did, and after playing around with the color scheme I finally finished my ziatrec high warden, the first lumineth model I painted, using retributor gold with chameleon paints burning gold colorshift on top of that, some differently shaded areas on the model, and some colorshift on the shield. Pretty happy how it turned out!

  20. @Rock Lobster damn, I finished with the warden alone, and you have to knock me out of the water with those guys. Damn fine job on those guys,

here is my take on ziatrec with color shifting. Used burning gold over retributor armor for the majority of the armor, nullen oil gloss over the retributor armor for the scale mail, and a mixture of paints over the crest. On the shield I used Toxic Purple  for the shield from chameleon paints, and red / purple contrast for the robes. For his sword I just used colorshift celestial azure, and I dunno if I like it, but it certainly shows that it’s special metals.

It’s a bit complicated. Teclis found “soul particles” over a month long period, he then asked Iliatha to make a living cloned body of someone who looked similar to Eltharion and commissioned a special armour in Syar. The particles were summoned by Teclis into the clonedbody, not the armour, but the body turned to dust. Over the years he tried it with several other cloned bodies, but so far they always turn to dust.

Eltharion now seems to be one entity within the armour.

yea, I knew that, but thank you! I was hoping there was something that said he could wear new "Armors" or teleport to armies that needed his support, almost like a daemon

like if the army of Syar is about to embark on a serious mission, but eltharion is technically within ziatrec right now. Could they use a matching set of armor (in a different paint scheme 😉) to summon his soul there to fight for them? or does the light of Eltharion have to walk across the realm like a peasant?
