  1. can ya at least wait until the model is actually out so we can have fun? Edit Nah, ****** it go ahead, I already have moneys set aside and I dont plan on changing
  2. Every party needs a pooper that's why we invited you... nah, I'm just salty that we can't play them yet and test out all this. I don't think that the matchups with Kharadons would be that doom and gloom with Teclis, and I think there is some way to screen the squishy mage. it all depends on the matchup and the mission. Working around the lack of movement is going to be interesting, and I want to see if I can get the mountain Spirits to work, because if I read it right then 5 damage per hit is insane. It is a tad annoying how people are immidiately shouting down people's fun with this, and until we actually get data it just turns into a "spear" measuring contest.
  3. So i’ve Been almost obsessing about this all day (which feels great after no games due to quarantine) and this book is really pushing you towards MSU for the wardens, with each squad being a wizard and the two units striking at once, but with the limit of needing 5 models in a unit to cast spells, I kinda want to have 20 guys in a squad for protection and board control. Kinda hard to decide without playing.
  4. It seems to be heavily about 6+'s to hit, and I agree it may suck to fight against. they pretty much do a lot of tricks the gloomspite gitz have, which is a bit ironic considering that these guys are highborn warriors. Anyways, been coming up with some lists now that we have more info. We don't know enough for spells on everyone, but I think this seems to be pretty good.
  5. I think whoever fields teclis would have to bubble wrap like crazy in situations like that to avoid that very thing. Not always the best, but I think it could be doable. I need to think on everything though, as this is a lot of info to go through...
  6. MAN are the lumineth going to be slow or what? Maybe I cannot see some extra rules but it looks like we need to run everywhere, and we are about as slow as a death army is. Also, kinda sad that the Stone Mage can only cast 1 spell a turn from what I can see... dunno, expected a bit more.
  7. tell him to let it slip to War of sigmar or something?
  8. yea it is a pitifully short army roster isn't it? Also, the Spirit of the mountain isn't a Hero?! holy cow that is a surprise. no relics for them either, and makes it so that the ideas I had for a big melee hero is nill... Also, That is a big entry for the Wardens, which is kinda odd. Still, I need more info.
  9. GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME GIMME Ahem. That is quite nice, and I am mildly excited for it.
  10. I think I plan on doing a "standard" set up. The staunchest line of spears in the mortal realms, backed up by archers, at least one battle cattle, Stoneguard and a lot of Calvary and wizards. after my all eel list for my Idoneth, I feel like I need infantry that can absorb damage and dish it out.
  11. 100 pages of discussion before the book came out... and probably 3 pages of discussion after 😉 Honestly I hope we can keep talking about fluff and stuff like that after the book comes out. I really like the story of what GW put out, and made it pretty clear how their tempers and emotions flared before the Lumineth were introduced to the elements. (usually exposure to the elements is a bad thing, but hey they're elves.)
  12. maybe that's why there is a hit to bravery. "Oh man, that was a good box. I paid a lot of money for it!"
  13. Well, you can do a follow up move of 1" towards them to help block them off. plus, it's at the end of each combat phase, where they already piled in and cannot do so again.
  14. Yea, kinda stinks. I think it could be good though, like with small units or monsters. Just stuff to be careful of. Besides this is all speculation anyways. i think it is going to be used more by the stoneguard rather than by the battle cattle. That way they can wrap around units and coral them a bit better I think.
  15. I still feel like it is a lot of work for that buff, but we’ll see how it works in play. Pulling models from one edge or another is going to be the safe bet I think, and pray that we take even numbers of casualties. i think that rather than rank and file, we have a ‘honeycombed’ approach that would be the best deployment to guarantee that there is as few gaps as possible. In the standard rank and file, you can have moments where you can have guys stranded without a buddy, whereas a honeycombed approach would help reduce that (I think) also, I think we would have to be careful how we use the push ability, as a savvy opponent could use it to their advantage. It never says the enemy has to move directly away, and it doesnt day the back rank of the opponent can’t get closer while staying outside of 1 inch... I admit I may be paranoid, but I imagine some situations where it could happen.
  16. The only strange thing I can see is that it only begins after setting up and you cannot reform it at any time? it doesn't say that you can reform the shining company again after you break it up, so it seems you have to be extra careful of your positioning. it also creates the problem real life phalanxes had, where you cannot travel over terrain or around buildings without breaking the formation. It seems like a lot of hoops to jump throough for a -1 to hit!
  17. Wow ask and I shall receive I guess. That's a lot of information to get in such a short amount of time! Oh boy this is some delicious stuff to chew on... So there is a big incentive to form shield walls for the Vanari, but has a downside of being slow to pile in (with a 3" range though that is less of an issue it seems) and it seems that most of our units do mortal wounds on 6's, so that is awesome. The spell is just as amazing too, and it seems that the Crystals endless spells will be filled quickly. I wonder if they can do arcane bolt or lore spells too... and that teutonic ability. Holy Battle Cattle that is amazing. Man, I am even more excited to see how these guys play! annnnnd my 1,000th post is on this. Awesome!
  18. Took me a bloody while but I finally finished the ‘roof’ portion of this temple, which will be different to the mountain temple I have planned. A bit more cramped than I first thought it would be, but so far everything is looking right for this. Spray painted the terrain and will soon be dry brushing the ****** out of it, and then it’s time to work on the hill / cliff leading up to it... then base the undead attacking the base and hopefully work on the elves.
  19. so that pretty much confirms no non-two-story-tall melee hero. Oh phooey. Well, I may just have to look at alternatives for that hero! I'm eagerly awaiting more info for the units beyond "what's in the box" kinda stuff. Come on throw me a bone I'm dying of hunger!
  20. I love a lot of terrain, but people have to be able to place faction terrain like a Gloomtide shipwreck or shrine or something, so unless it's a tournament game allow the opponent to place their stuff as well. but yea, I love terrain, even if it's in games where it can ****** up the flow. Something awesome about seeing a thematic board that works well for gaming. Generally I play it by ear, making everything equal so no side is completely screwed over, but usually I just make something thematic and go "that looks fun!"
  21. Anyone know what that is in freedom bucks? I am too stupid to find out beyond just google searching, which comes out to around $150
  22. I only hope that there is enough boxes that I can get one... I think I'm just going to take the shipping and handling hit and order it straight from my house. I am drooling for this one. I need it.
  23. I’m still torturing myself building that armies on parade board. Gotta make sure it’s finished by July or so... hopefully I will have time to paint up those lumineth before October! Still planning on using turbo shift color paints to make a metal that changes in the light.
  24. I used a boatload of magnets. It’s tricky to remember which way is up and down, so it takes some practice to make sure every eel is ‘matching’ with every base, but if I can do it anyone can.
