  1. yea you hit why I love that faction on the head. I can also see them being the "Nicest" lumineth you can meet as long as you are a wizard or wizard-adjacent. They may treat you like an idiot or a child, but they will at least see what kind of magic you can do and be interested in it while treating you like a toddler. Also, I must say that it is pretty amusing that our faction has a noble goal (cleanse land with burning light and stop allowing chaos to punch holes in things) but we do not do it so nicely, or really with permission. I guess the Lumineth are so smart that they think everyone can logically think through what they are doing, but forget that not everyone has the same train of thought.
  2. I just hope the bloody author reads the battletome before he wrote that book. I don’t want it to end up like court of the blind king, where the entirety of the novel fails to realize the Whole premise of a game of thrones style court intrigue plot doesn’t make sense because A.) each enclave is run by a council of ishraan and B.) the title of King isn’t hereditary or even a formal part of the government. It’s literally just what they call the general of a phalanx. There can be multiple Kings in one idoneth enclave, and the fact that the entire book treats the title of king like we do makes it possibly one of the worst AoS books out there. but yea back on topic, I still wish we had more insight into society outside the temples. What is your guy’s favorite faction so far fluff wise?
  3. I think I really jumped the gun thinking I'd get my armies on parade board done by this year.... I just want a little more info to satisfy some world building needs. For Example, are the nations run by the spiritual leaders of temples? is the majority of the government within each nation a City State where each city controls their land? Is the society Feudal? or is there freedom of movement and social mobility?
  4. I honestly think it speaks more to bad battletome design when generic RelicTM is the best choice for your army over anything in your own book. I am sad that my Akhelian King will no longer have his 3+ unrendable save, but I guess I can find some new relics to use from the battletome. Back on topic, I have to say that I love how they didn't skip out on talking about the Element temples. it rubs a little salt in the wound that we don't have the models, but I love the little excerpts we got, and we would have a lot less info on the society as a whole... Which considering how little we know of society for the Lumineth it is saying something.
  5. finally read a good majority of the book, and I gotta say this is some of the best AoS fluff I have read in a while (from a short pool of Kharadrons, Legions of Nagash, Deepkin and Cities of Sigmar) and makes me wish we had more models. Some particular notes I liked: Okay, enough of my rambling. Anyone else hoping the create your own hero thing will allow us more hero choices in matched play? and also, sucks to hear about the Relm relics, but they were almost too powerful... I mean giving a Vampire lord on Zombie dragon ethereal was always a bullcrap play.
  6. I just got my box today, and the only complaints I have is that the box seems to be made from the weakest cardboard, the spears are already pre-bent on the sprue, and there is one rein that somehow got popped out of a sprue... but outside of that I am super excited! can't wait to read the book and build those models!!
  7. Man I wanna stay engaged with this forum but I wanna read everything unspoiled first! Such a dilemma... I don’t even wanna write more lists because I am pretty sure I have everything I wanna try! will ask, has anyone else been practicing ‘formation’ for their shining company? Like moving bases around, making sure every unit is in base to base, how to pile in effectively etc. I may be crazy for doing it, but I am keeping myself occupied at least....
  8. yea, I can see that! I need to prime white / grey for contrast and use the paint on gloss primer for my colorshift ideas, which shouldn't be too hard, just time consuming. I am so excited to paint these guys though, and I need to get my hands on these ****** to start trying it out! Will post results here as well.
  9. Awesome Paint job! did you paint it in sub asemblies? or glue it all together and paint at once?
  10. Well off the top of my head in terms of a drive Reconquestia of Hysh, seeking out new spells to use in the war in their home lands, securing realm-gates that lead to other parts of Hysh to start trade between the relms / with other cities... I think it would mainly be cleansing Hysh, or establishing colonies, almost like a secondary Elf-Only Cities of Sigmar
  11. Welcome, and I hope you enjoy the sunlight! Total eclipse is a great spell, but it is balanced by the needing an 8+ to cast, so unless you have teclis you have to buff your castings via the Twinstones, or else get an 8 consistently, which can be doable. your thoughts pretty much align with most of the board here, with the added bonus of Zaitrec's battleline getting Overwhelming heat and +1 spell from the lore, which can combo quite nicely with out units or with certain spells. Just remember thatyou can break the shining company at any time too, to try and run on an objective or to try and get a charge off against scary units such as Skullcrushers or blood knights / need a unit to strike first. It's a good buff to be sure, but I advocate not soley relying on it too much. I agree with point 4 and 5 quite a bit I am thinking of using my archers to snipe characters and be THAT guy, but in general I feel we could do pretty well against Petrifax OBR in general because we can bypass the armor. Say what you will about the health of the game, but it's a nifty ability to bring.
  12. I honestly would like to have more unity between the classes, almost like Death's kinda thing. Don't make it too much, but stuff like allowing the Akehlian King to give out his re-rolls of 1's to hit to Namartii, maybe giving wound re-rolling auras beyond the Eidolon, give the tide casters Eels or make a whole new class of mounted spellcaster to keep up with all Eel Lists, stuff like that. And clean up the some inconsistancies too. If the whole point of a Deepkin Raid is to get souls, why shouldn't he get a chariot or ride a shark when he joins a raiding party of Akhelians? have a longer range way to collect souls instead of being right next to the guy, make it like a mortis engine or a war shrine that buffs our guys while fighting and killing. Give us more magic that makes people fall asleep or forget like in the fluff... and make it good dammit!
  13. Thank you so much! I am hoping to get the mystic gold for weapons, but I really have to ask what that shaman's paint is, or the Ungor's in the bottom picture, or pretty much all of them, as I'm trying to find a good fit for Ziatrec's armor
  14. Actually, Thanks to the Hacker Known as 4Chan, we have the page! Looking on that Anti-AoS forum actually worked! "You can choose or roll for one spell for each WIZARD in your army." "Lore of Hysh- Teclis, Cathallar, Eltharion (FAQ inbound probably), And Vanari Wizards Only" Annnnnnnd from the faction trait page "In addition, each Ziatrec wizard knows 1 extra spell from the appropriate spell lore (see page 66-67)" furthermore, when it mentions the sunstroke spell, It says that wizards know that in addition to any other spell they know. sooooooo yea. Super geek wizards are a go nope, nope, I was wrong and you are right. only Heroes know extra spells! There goes every squad knowing the same spells to keep unity like I really wanted
  15. Dunno how many builds there are myself, but I made quite a few lists with what we had before the leaks. Also the silver wand is the thing I was thinking off, and definitely going to take that as my second relic choice since I pretty much think there will never be a time where I don’t bring that warden-sentinel battalion. Man, come to think of it if you choose the right spells you could build a “tarpit” style list, or something close to it. Zaitec’s faction spell, Cathallar’s inbuilt spell (I think) and the Stonemage spell, maybe some shackles and the petrification rune. Just zap your opponent with all these movement spells and suddenly they are as slow as we are!
  16. Like other's said though, the Zaitrec nation gets their own command trait put on them...Though interestingly enough Iliatha does not, which means you could take command traits there. The Ziatrec trait which is a pretty good dispelling one though. I think that the wizard wand is going to be the number 1 relic chosen with any list that has a battalion though, allowing for even more spell shenanigans. It will be a hard choice between that relic and the Aetherquartz broach Also it seems Ziatrec DOES pick out a second spell from the lore AND everyone knows the Arcane sunstroke spell. I'm glad I didn't edit my lists... And holy CR*P Realm spells are going to be insane in this army.
  17. Got all the pink foam I need, and already drew the layout of my board with basically the outline I want, and I decided to ditch the hill idea for the much, much easier cliffside ideas. I will probably do the cliffsides in a sandstone like color to make it different from the granite ish stone. The first stone temple is going to be on a lower level, and the main temple is on the highest cliff, both with stairs leading up to it. Also painted three spirit hosts because I want to get back to painting figures, and test out my grass on a much wider base!
  18. Have you tried the chameleon paints? That is kinda dissapointing to hear otherwise. What is the colors you bought? and I heard that you can use a paint brush too.
  19. Also for more variety here is some more colorshift stuff. I'm planning on using some myself for the armor and weapons, but I wonder how the heck I will do that and the contrast paints I need for the faces
  20. Yea, we have an Extremis chamber thing on our hands I think. We have no clue when the next wave will drop, so it could be a while from now. Best case scenario is that the new models fit within the already established classes with Vanari and Aralith, worst case scenario is that there is absolutely no overlap.
  21. Well that Ziatrec thing is kinda cr@ppy then. I was really looking forward to being able to spread spells around and have redundency, like having both protection and blessings on the two squads and casting them as needed. it would have really cut down on the confusion too when I just tell my opponent "both those squads have heavenly blessings and protection of hysh" instead of "this squad has blessings and that squad has protection". It's a small thing but I would have appreciated it.
  22. Yea, that’s a big problem too, and one that seems to be Porting over from 40k just a bit. Alpha strike armies are really powerful and quite (dare I say) unfun. I saw a game where a tournament level hallowheart list won against a balloon boy army list turn 1 by using the comet, teleporting in and wiping out so much of the army the guy (a tourney player) called it. I played the same list with my Deepkin and I think that if I got the double turn and spaced my units out I would have won it, but I also had the first turn and can also arrive near target units. I dunno the point of this post is either. Teleporting a lot of high damage units is bad unless I am doing it?
  23. ....My friend, have you ever heard of the deepkin? Or do you wanna do these guys first and make some Deepkin later as a “before and after” kinda theme? Jokes aside it sounds like a really good color scheme! What I didn’t know is that it’s +1 to cast for each wizard! I thought it was only for 1 squad in the army, and the rest cast as usual! That changes how I look at them completely... heck, I may take them for my main army. I wanted to use the mages anyways, and I just hope I have enough battle shock nullifies and command points to cover me otherwise so I don’t miss that +2 to bravery.
  24. If I had more money than I set aside for this release I would make my character out of The Lord-Arcanum on Tauralon (without the wings obviously, which is a fairly big feat to remove in all honesty but doable) with a 3rd party elf Hero Riding it, or a Kitbashed Dreadlord being the rider on top. It would take some reworking, but I think it's feasible. In terms of rules I would just use Avalorn's Rules. He's a hero, he is good even without the stoneguard, and he certainly can pull his weight.
  25. “Hey gotrek... remember that time we teamed up and kicked ass against those tzeentch twins to save the world?” ”say no more, boyo, i’m In.”
