  1. It all depends on how warm or cold you want the model, also don't be afraid to mix washes or add some inks in. For instance my test model (on previous page) is done in a similar colour scheme washed with a blue/black mix, more in favour of the blue
  2. I don't think I will be getting on board the contrast hype train lol. In the time it takes to paint wraithbone base colour and apply the contrast I would be able to paint something more in my style I think. Having said that I might try it diluted for the was on the skin. But thats not using it as a contrast paint. Just diluting to a wash.
  3. My gut instinct was telling me, black. But I want to add black around the eyes and have like you said glowing eyes. Dark grey might be just the colour in after
  4. Can you post some pictures? I have a sizeable nurgle army
  5. Thank very much I will definitely add a little blood effect. I'm just trying to decide on a colour to make the spines stand out a bit. Instinct is telling me do black, but I'm unsure?
  6. Thoughts on colours for the spines. I'm drawing up blanks here 😕 I want to achieve a dark horror theme, but will still standout and look good on the table (high contrast) while maintaining a darkness about it. Please excuse the shoddy work this was a quick 15 minute splashing of colours to get a feel for the new army I am starting. Many thanks

  8. Ah right cool, I've only read the first 2 or 3 books (before the series came out) sounds like an ideal realm to theme my army. I am thinking of a reddish/brown desert for the basing as this should contrast nicely with the blue/grey skin.
  9. Awesome, is there more info on this in the malign sorcery book?
  10. I'm going to try do a game of thrones, army of the night king theme for my FEC. Havnt decided on colours etc I will be using but I will be going for a grey/blue skin with some purple/reds for contrast. No idea how I am going to put these colours into practice yet. Just waiting on the first few models I have ordered to arrive. If anyone has seen an army themed like this before if you could send me a link I would really appreciate it
  11. Thank god I will be doing most of the base coating etc with the air brush
  12. Thanks very much, this is perfect will be my first personal "hoard army" so looking forward to the painting aspect of things.
  13. What knights are these sorry? Thanks though, I wasnt sure if each courtier was necessary, or whether one would work better than the other. I'd rather have one of each as I love painting so more variety in my models is definitely better
  14. Hey folks, I have never played death (not since WHFB 6th ed) and wanted to get some advice on building a list. I wanted to start with 2 start collecting boxes as I love the zombie dragon/ terror ghiest. Apart from that what would be other worthwhile purchases to get me up to 2k points? Are the endless spells/terrain a worthwhile purchase? I'm sure this gets asked many times on here I couldn't find a link to a good starting guide. Thanks in advance
  15. So I started this project 11 months ago. I knew it would be a slow burn project. It has been plagued with fun, frolics, tears and joy. Lots of lessons learned and sometimes re-learned. I've also gradually pushed out of my comfort zone painting in quite a dark style. Upping my contrast and use of colour theory more. This is pretty evident looking at the blight kings. I've attached pictures with 2 miniatures from each of the 3 units. The first group is very dark and lacking contrast, the second group is a good middle ground and the final unit I think is spot on in terms of contrast and use of colour. Albeit they could still be painted better, they will do for table top standard 🤣 Can you tell I am critical of my own work? I usually just paint up an army to the clients specifics and then ship it on. So there is never really any way to gauge advances in painting skills. This project has certainly helped with that. And after each unit I've had a good think about how to improve on the next. Anyways enough of my ramblings. I would like to thank each and everyone of you who have stopped by to drop a like or a comment. It means a lot to know my painting brings joy to others. If you would like to ask questions or leave feedback, enquires etc drop a message on here or feel free to email me reanimatestudios@gmail.com Or follow me on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/reanimate_studios/ I will gladly talk paint, offer advice, or talk about projects etc Many thanks Happy painting, and enjoy the pictures
  16. Haha thank you I know you lurk about the maggotkin thread yourself, so any questions please feel free to ask 😇
  17. There are so many amazing parts on the nurgle sprues that never all get used. I thought it a shame to leave them there 😇
  18. First time playing with 2 part resin for water effect bases. Pretty happy with the results. Could be better and learned a lot from the process. Lots of work to do on the glottkin still (so many little details on this model) Next unit of blightkings finished apart from a tidy up on the bases. On wards and upwards 😊 Any feedback or questions greatly appreciated.
  19. Finished up a 10 man unit of blight kings. Really enjoyed the white armour on these guys.
  20. So the points reductions on blight/plague cyst worth the points now? I personally cant see the points be worth the investment still and I am a casual gamer lol
  21. So if you fail a save with 2 damage you make 2 saves thanks. I guess this works a bit better
  22. Quick question, despite playing for over a year with nurgle (just friendly social games) I'm not sure I have been playing disgustingly resilient properly. If hit by a weapon with 2 damage (for example) Do I make a save roll, if failed do I make 2 rolls one for each point of damage or make one roll, if failed again take 2 damage? I've been playing the second way up to now. I'm hoping to attend a tournament this year but want to make sure playing properly and also finish painting up my army first
  23. Here is list of the paints. I also glaze in a few greens or blues as I see fit for rot/bruising. The key I find with it is be quite random. Also be bold with the colours helps ALOT with nurgle Hope this helps some what. Anythi g else just ask.
  24. Not had the chance to work on my AoS stuff lately, got a little work done on my next unit of blight kings. Any comments or questions welcome
