Mystic shield on units with no save.

Razor32

Question

Hi guys and gals.

In my gaming group a question came up, and we can't really figure it out.

Can you cast mystic shield on a unit with no save to give them a 6+ save? Like let's say bloodreavers?

Does anybody know if it is stated somewhere?

Regards.

No, regardless of how many modifiers you use, a unit with a save of '-' cannot make a save roll. This is an excerpt from the "Hints and Tips" right before the warscrolls in one of the books...

Exactly. Important distinction.

If somehow it had a save of 7+ then that would be a whole different matter

I want this to be a thing. Want GW to release some 7+ save dudes for fun and buffing. Maybe make them amazing in terrain or something like camo skinks

Well fluff wise it makes much more sense.

Ive always had it that Bloodreavers have a - for their save due to a combination of no armor but most importantly lack of self preservation.

However to me as far as fluff goes anyway it would make alot more sense to have 7+ saves. Since even units with no self preservation can be protected by magic
